Why does everyone in skyrim hate the khajiits

I think the khajiits were dealt a bad hand in skyrim and are known as thieves and assassins when all the thieves you see are human, and all the assassins in the dark brotherhood are every race except khajiit.

There is the fact you can sell stolen objects to the caravans. It is more stereotyping but there are grains of truth.

Khajiit =/= Dark Brotherhood Assassin

The Dark Brotherhood is quite obviously a very selective organization in whom they choose to have as members. They're not just going to let some cutthroat Khajiit in because he's handy with a dagger and a well placed shadow.

And do you know how many thieves I encountered on the road that were Khajiit? All of them. ALL. And hell, the one's who didn't trying slitting my throat and taking my things were trying to sell me skooma and moon sugar.

Sure, I know there are Khajiit who are "good guys" and follow the law and whatnot, but it's because the other members in their race are dumb enough to go about making themselves a bad name, then why not hate them? Any one would be wary of their pockets with a Khajiit around when you know there are bad apples in the bunch.

I have nothing against Khajiit, to be honest. The merchants do sell some fine stuff, and most of the ones I've met were friendly. But remember, one bad apple spoils the bunch.

Well, there's two main reasons:

1-They're part of the aldmeri dominion, so Nords have some resentment against them

2-What they say about them is true.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not dissing them, i'm their beat defender here(seriously read around and you'll see). But Khajits have a greatly osculating personality and, actually, they don't even have a solid personality. So they may be really friendly and cut you a good deal, but when you then around they change their mind and pickpocket you.
Most of their decisions don't involve killing or stealing, but people don't want to risk it.

And for the fact that there's so many thieves, assassins, skooma dealers and trafficants that are Khajits is also very simple:

ASSASINS: they have a gift for being sneaky, so when they need money, this is always a viable and easy option

THIEVES: same as above

SKOOMA DEALERS: To Khajits, skooma isn't bad, so they have no problems selling it.

TRAFFICANTS: Khajit caravans can't enter cities and are constantly robbed. Imagine how hard it is to them to make a living. So they work as trafficants.

So you see, people have their motives to diss Khajits, although they are way too hard.

You know I hear this a lot. But doesn't your character have to be a Thieves Guild member and do a corresponding quest before you can sell the caravans stolen goods? Maybe I'm wrong, but last I checked I think that was how it worked. So technically if that's the case, they don't unless your character makes them.
I think Khajiits get a really bad rap. I mean yeah there are some bad ones, but others, like the ones in the caravans, are trying to get away from that kind of life and get others of their race away from it. Granted it doesn't always work, but to me they're a good example that not all Khajiit are bad.
I mean, if anything, the Nords are bad for being so racist. These are the same people that look at your character sideways and crack jokes if they happen to be an elf or Argonian. But even the Nords aren't all bad. It's just that very few see things differently.
The unfortunate thing is, some people see a couple bad things going on and that person happens to be a certain race, and if it happens often enough it ends up spoiling things for everyone else. Sad but true.

There's a lot of unexplained racial prejudice here on the forums. What has Bethesda done to such good folk? I'm talking in general, not to you eashwell25.

Most of it is in good fun, at least when relating to the fictional races of TES. It should be noted that many have different reasons for out of universe "hating" a race. And using words like "everyone" and "hate" itself give the query far too much implied weight.

I mean that is a very common issue of any world, because thinking of people as individuals is hard especially when you dont understand them, but this is something a friend pointed out and I feel it is a decent enough point. If you are a Khajiit in Skyrim, chances you are a crimminal because it is obvious they are in a form of exile and detest Skyrim. Now shady dealings aside, there is the question of "Why are they here?"

In story, asides from the nordic racism that seems more like a "we got all this political talk so race is popping up" most people really don't care. And I think it is true in general, people make jokes but overall there isn't any real malice towards Khajii. (I like calling them that, but its personal preference.)

If you played Oblivion, you had an interesting view of most people's prejudices in an environment that isn't pushing these ideas of race to a key pillar of the thought process.

I didn't use either terms.I only imply that a lot of members are prejudiced against the "beast" races. I'm asked these people if they're serious and what they're reasons are, and they just say something like "they're furry" or "they look gross." I suppose that's as good a reason as any for a racist, but I'm wondering if this is Skyrim influence speaking or their actual thoughts. Does that make sense? I'm not as serious about this as it seems, just curious if people actually dislike Khajiit and Argonians.

"Now shady dealings aside, there is the question of "Why are they here?"" Usually exile or caravan business, though some actually want to travel. (I'm probably only bringing this up because I lore Tamriel lore. A lot of people see Khajiit as furry kitties and Argonians as slimy reptiles, whereas I see misunderstood people. It might seem like I'm taking this too far, but that's what fiction writers do. We take things too damn far and annoy people.)
