The Benevolent One
After playing this game for so long, I've discovered a plethora of locations all over Skyrim, many of them unmarked and difficult to locate. But with a bit of patience, you'll find them worth the effort. So, here are some that I've found:
1. Kjenstag Ruins & Unmarked Nordic Ruin
You'll find this place northeast of Morthal and northwest of Stonehills, right when the snowy terrain merges with the marshlands.
As soon as you approach this ruin, a ghost bearing the ancient nordic armor will appear and immediately run off, follow him. After maybe a few hundred meters the ghost will stop in front of a small nordic burial site and disappear shortly thereafter.
Approach this site and you'll find two leveled bandits and a shovel nearby, indicating that they have dug up the site. Deal with the bandits and head down a short spiral staircase and you'll find a single sarcophagus with a draugr wrapped in linen. There will be a leveled item, an iron shield and a silver sapphire necklace on the corpse.
I believe this ghost wanted you to follow him so you could kill the bandits desecrating his grave site, I think it's kinda cool.
2. Unmarked Frozen Mammoth in Glacier
This location may take a while to find, it's west of Saarthal, tuck away in one of the many glaciers in the area (it helps if you follow the snowy trail leading through there).
You'll find a mammoth halfway frozen in the glacial wall with dwarves spears and arrows embedded in it. As we all know from the lore the Dwemers disappeared in the 1st era, so we can only imagine how long this mammoth has been here.
3. Unmarked Boat w/ Gems
This boat is located slightly southwest of Kolskeggr Mine and west of Sky Haven Temple.
Travel south down the river and you'll find a boat along the side of the mountain. In the boat you'll find a strongbox and various gems in the boat. There is also two mead barrels and a chest in the water as well. Easy money!
4. Chicken Necromancer & Altar
That's right, this is a thing. It's located southeast of Ivarstead and west of Honeystrand Cave, it sits on top of a small hill.
Once you approach this altar, you'll see a Altmer necromancer and of course he will immediately attack you. Finish him off, and nearby are some dead chickens and an altar, once you remove the chicken egg from the nest the chickens will reanimate. Unfortunately, you cannot do this process again, so enjoy it while it lasts.
So those are the few interesting locations I've discovered while exploring Skyrim. I'll probably continue adding to this thread later on. What are some fascinating places you've stumbled upon?
