How do you backstab a Dragon?
I have played a lot of games in the last 18 months and keep coming back to Skyrim.

It's love!

I realize that this is not an exhaustive list, but, these are just the ones I have actually played.

Anyhoo - I would be interested to know which, if any of these games you consider to be the worth your time, if you would or are planning to replay them or if not, why not?

If you've come back to Skyrim, I would also like to know why?

I haven't played any of the games that have been released this last year but I have tried a lot of games the last few months.

Amongst them, the ones I'd mention are:
Deadspace 2
Dark Souls
Oblivion
Total War Rome II

Dark Souls
The Witcher 2: AoK
ESO: Tamriel Unlimited
Oblivion
...aannddd who could forget... Skyrim!

For me, every time I exit Helgen I step out of that cave and say to my character, "Now what kind of adventure will you have?" Whether I'm going to grind my dovahkiin into a lvl 200 one-hitting badass or make a modest Argonian who only wants to be the best chef in the land, Skyrims captivating landscapes and intricate characters always seem to pull me right back in.

Only new game I played this year was Resident Evil Revelations 2. I was actually quite impressed with it, considering how abysmal RE games have been in recent years. The story basically felt like a poor retelling of Code Veronica, but it was nice that they brought back exploration and walking back and forth and reading files (things that were missing from RE6) and the best thing about the game was the long over due return of Barry Burton. I did enjoy the weekly episodic format as well, but unfortunately a lot of RE fans bitched about having to wait a whole week to play the next level because children are so bloody impatient, so Capcom probably won't do that again.
I am currently replaying it to get the alternative ending, which was another thing that surprised me - been a long time since RE had alternative outcomes!

TESO. Quit after reaching level 12 though.

Other than that I don't play much anymore except Alicia Online, but I watch plenty of walkthroughs still. The Last Of Us got me hooked again in the past week. I'm also eagerly awaiting the release of The Last Guardian and Horizon - Zero Dawn.

GoT Telltale (highly recommend)
Borderlands 2 (not recent, but a phenomenally hilarious and engaging game nonetheless)
Town of Salem
Don't Starve Together (to be enjoyed with friends/enemies/spouses/second cousins/other)
TESO (I kind of enjoy it. Kind of.)
Far Cry 3
Batman Arkham City / Knight
Life is Strange

Annnnnd that's about it for the time being.

I have to disagree with GoT by Telltale. To me it was awful. I can't stand games that force actions. I'll admit that the choice system was great, but I got so tired of all the dialogue and being spoonfed the action over and over and over.

I finished Divinity: Original Sin and I'm about to finish DA:Inquisition. Other than that I haven't played many games this year - I've still got The Witcher 3 sat on my HDD pretty much unplayed which will take me years to finish. Literally; that game is massive.

Tbh, I don't find the games in the poll much interesting other than B:AK, TW3 and ESO.

Although, I can't seem to get into ESO as much as I got into Skyrim (talking about immersion here) (I know ESO is supposed to be a MMO but I don't find it better than Skyrim) however The Witcher 3 and Batman Arkham Knight are awesome!

Though no matter what, Fallout 4 will be my game of the year :).

Of course not, because ESO didn't have Bethesdas touch [emoji16]. It was made by Zenimax [emoji28]

BTW, I was disappointed to find out that Elenwyn in ESO wasn't the same Elenwyn from Skyrim. I had an awesome backstory prepared for my ex-Thalmor Den Moria, but, oh well...

I know that but when they announced it, I was so excited but after it's horrible reviews I read and some playthroughs of mine, I was highly disappointed . Bethesda is muuuuuch better!

Bloodborne, Dark Souls II, Witcher 3, and possibly in the future- Fallout 4 were newly released games I played this year. The next few games I played were released in earlier times: Mario 3D World
Fallout 1 & 2 (this wasn't released this year), Final Fantasy 8 and FF13. :D

I've played Alien Isolation, Telltale's Game of Thrones and Witcher III. I keep coming back to Skyrim, though. When I play another game, I have these thoughts. "Wouldn't it be great if _____." And whatever that blank is, nine times out of ten there's a mod for Skyrim that's exactly what I was looking for and puts a brand new spin on a four year old game I know inside and out.

A lot of these newer games have greatness within them. They just need developers to release a creation kit and nurture a modding community around them.
