If you lived in the Rift, how would you feel if the line of Jarls passed from Nords to Argonians?

Surprised, honestly. The Argonian presence in the Rift isn't as large as it is in Windhelm, and they don't seem so badly treated. Were it to happen, my character would take the change with a grain of salt, to be honest. She's isn't racist, but it would be a big change from a native to, presumably, a foreigner on the throne. I would be less surprised if Markarth's next Jarl would be a Breton, or Solitude being ruled by an Imperial.

We've gone over this before. Ain't gonna happen.

They're still Nords in the rift and, apparently, the few argo's that are there don't really want power.

Besides, Maven would never put up with it, particularly if she was already Jarl.

My characters? I'd make boots.

Daelon has a point. Maven Black-Briar would never allow power to switch so easily, unless she had power over the situation and new Jarl. She's like that.

She doesn't have a problem with Keerava and Talen-Jei though - probably because of Keerava's connections though. Maybe Maven is considering an expansion in to Blackmarsh. :)

I wasn't saying that she has an issue with Argonians, Daelon. Maven seems to like being in power, so a new Jarl would throw her off-balance unless she was already in good with the Argonian in question. She is probably considering expanding her influence and/or business out of Skyrim as well. Since that takes a lot of time to accomplish, and since she doesn't seem to be expanding at this moment (as far as we know), I'd say that she either she's considering expanding in the future but hasn't started yet.

Sorry if you thought I was inferring that. I was not. Maven already has connections throughout the empire (as we are told), so, if she wasn't already Jarl and she could a) control the new Jarl (say he/she is or was a member of thieves guild or is bribeable, etc...) or b) the new Jarl has some pull elsewhere in the empire or the other provinces (say Blackmarsh), I can't see her really caring if he/she was an argo. She'd probably help get rid of the old Jarl if it suited her.

Still: As I said above: None of my characters would care either way who's Jarl. If it's an Argo, they'll make boots; if it's a Khajit, they'll make a rug; if it's a human, they'll extort them in to doing what they want them to do.

As you may have guessed, my characters tend to be a bit morally ambiguous. :)

Well, my do gooder lrc Berserker wouldn't care(he really doesn't care about race) and my Khajit rogue who's aspiring to emperorship would be proud and probably would to talk to him(he really supports "oppressed races" in high positions).

So he really likes Nords? According to most Nords I've dealt with they're oppressed. Don't ask me "how" they're oppressed, but they firmly believe that they are.

No, he does not like nords. Ateast no the stupid ones. If I gotta go moreb personally, nords drive me nuts, so thank god I made someone who doesn't give a damn about races.

EDIT: well, least nords should be thanking god, he is not someone you want to mess with.

I understand what you're saying Daelon. Well maybe not as de jure Jarl but perhaps as a de facto Jarl. Perhaps an Argo with many connections could groom a Nord up as a puppet Jarl who can then be used to back up the Argo's influence over the Rift. (A bit like Maven but an Argo instead) That way, the Jarl is a Nord but the Hold is mainly under Argonian influence.

Kalin of High Rock

Faal Lun Vahdin
My red guard character, Shian, is a pretty hearty supporter of the Stormcloaks. While she wouldn't personally care one way or another, she'd be ready to stack lizards ten high if Windhelm took up arms against this argonian "Jarl". Which they almost certainly would.

My vampire mage, Kalin, finds that contentment in the population is best for her lifestyle. She wants people in power to be fat, lazy and happy! That way they're less likely to notice when the local beggars start to vanish off the streets. She has good hunting in The Rift, but would probably abandon Riften if an argonian Jarl started to cause some manner of strife.

Probably head to Markarth. Lots of good potential cattle working the Silverblood smelters.

That is a really cool supposition! Now that's a fan fic I would definitely read. Game of Thrones: Skyrim

As much as it pains me to say this, I don't see any substantial Argonian presence coming out of Skyrim anytime soon, at least as far as politics goes. At the end of the day, Skyrim ardently sticks to tradition like Aerin obsesses over Mjoll. It just isn't feasible.

It would be creepy, because Argonians are creepy

I disagree severely, deadpool.. I find Argonians cool and mystifying. I've never had an Argonian character, and thus I don't know much about their history or racial tendencies. Perhaps I should make an Argonian nightblade for my ESO character, then.
