The title kind of explains it all. I open Skyrim, hit start, watch Bethesda's logo, and PUM, CTD.

I checked my mods uninstalled one by one the mods I had added in the last days, no results.

I have an idea of what may be the cause, but who knows. While being killed in a killcam I opened the console and tried to resurrect myself(stupid, I know), the game immediately crashed and since then I've been having such problem.

Some help please pleasity please?

Having your idea of the cause might still be helpful.

My first option would be to disable all mods except the base game, turning on mods until you reach another CTD. It may just require uninstalling and reinstalling that specific mod to fix the issue.

Guess I'll have to do that then. Thanks for the help.

I just hope it works, since I don't have any better solutions without more information.

Oh don't worry, it's helpful, I'll get to it tomorrow. Only problem I find is it's a pain in the ass reinstalling one by one over 60 mods.

If you're tech savvy in understanding computers to a medium degree, you can do what I do.

Play the game as Administrator (assuming you know how to do that) until the crash event happens. When that happens, immediately open "Event Viewer". This can be accessed by the computers 'Run' or 'Search' function when you open up the windows menu (or whatever system you operate.

At the front you'll see Summary of Administrated events. Error will be listed in that box along with other things. Double click the one that is most relevant to the event of the crash (time, name, etc). Once there, there will be a list of errors.

Usually after looking through each one I can find the one that explains the crash. Or the computer's explanation as to why it happened. It helps me out in a pinch and after I solve the specific problem I don't have problems afterward.

It may seem complicated and not help much if at all, but it's worth a shot. I'll give more help if I can. Sorry this happened to ya.

*just throwing ideas out there*
if you have enb installed and have msi afterburner or some sorta overlay running in the background the game will crash on startup

unfortunately I don't know how to open the game in administrator, if you could explain it to me, I'll certainly give it a shot.

EDIT: don't worry mytrhol, I'm not ignoring your answer. The only thing I remember having on background were google and NMM, but I tend to have those two opened and never have problems.

Mith'rol also has a point. Make sure there are mods that aren't crashing against each other first. That's the one problem with mods. That have to colab correctly with each other. Most do but others don't mix well.

Onto the Admin thing:

First try it without opening it as Administrator. I only mentioned running it in admin mode just to be safe.

Should you try it without Admin and are not getting results, here's how to run it in admin mode:

Since it's on steam (assuming since you kinda have to have it) find the file of Skyrim under SteamApps > Common under the Steam program files(x86) (Local Disk). Open that up and find TESV.exe. That's the game launcher that steam uses (pretty sure anyway). Right click it, and click Run as Administrator (make sure it's highlighted/selected so it shows up). If that doesn't work, try the same with the Skyrim Launcher. exe just in case.

If THAT doesn't work:

Running steam on admin will also help. If you have a desktop icon, just do the same thing you did with the launchers.

Hopefully if all goes well, the game will launch and if a crash appears, the computer will report the findings in the Event Viewer. Then we can figure out what's going on.

Since you have NMM, you don't have to uninstall any mods. You just click on the Plugins tab, and uncheck everybox next to every mod except the base game. This disables them without uninstalling. It's still a tedious process, but way less involved than uninstalling and reinstalling 60+ mods.

Alright, I opened the game in administrator and did the event viewer thingy. Problem is, when I go to error, I see a whole bunch of stuff that is in no way related to Skyrim. Most of them ying something about Kernel-event something.

there is another way to log skyrim errors, which I forgot. but you should be able to find it if you google logging skyrim errors or something like that. used that to tell me which mod was messing up once. papyrus or something like that.

Thanks for the help, I googled it and find one that mentions papyrus and seems rather useful. Couldn't read it or try it since I didn't have time but I'll get to it tomorrow.

Weird. Kernel events usually refer to reboots are unexpected shut downs. o_O

But darn. I thought that it would work. Most of the time it does anyway. Only thing I can think of is backing up character saves and uninstall and reinstall everything. That's the only thing I've got. Unless you already did that then... No idea what to tell ya. Sorry I couldn't be of anymore help!

Well I'll try the papyrus thing first and if it doesn't work I'll uninstall it and reinstall it. I was just hoping to fix without losing everything so let's hope papyrus works.

Hey guys I've finally solved it!!

Neither papyrus or reinstalling worked, so I said" remember that sentence from Albert Einstein: madness is repeating the same process expecting different results? Well let's get mad"

I desactivated all mods once again and it so how worked!! Then it was very simple, reactivate mods one by one until I knew which ones caused the CTD. I realized that a few mods that had never caused any problem were now amongst the troublemakers, odd.

Well, thank you all for the help you've giving me and let's hope I don't have any more problems.
