Share some of your greatest jump-scare stories while playing! :blackdragon:

Mine was when I was wandering across the map, when suddenly i turn around to see if lydia was with me but was greeted with a dragon 2 inches away from my face! There was no music change to warn me, there was nothing! Lets just say people 5 countries away could hear my shriek. :Dovahkiin:

Wauten Dayhil

Demon Hunter and Wordplay Extraordinaire
Believe it or not, it was the skeletons in the Midden. I was heading for the gauntlet from the Augur's area, and I was expecting one skeleton, so I killed it. Then I continued on, and got hit in the back. Turning around, I was face to face with the second skeleton. I very nearly had to change my pants.

Daelon DuLac

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Skeevers. Every time when they leap out unexpectedly. Every friggin' time! It's gotten so bad that when I squeek, my other 1/2 always says "Skeever attack, eh?" even if he's in another room completely. Apparently I'm not subtle. :)

I've told that story before somewhere, I think, but my greatest (and first) jumpscare was that god damned ice troll on the way to the Grey beards. In my first ever playthrough, which I was kinda forced into by my friends, being a teen girly at that time :D

The Dragon Knight
K so I was carefully creeping around in a quiet dungeon with my follower.. And suddenly my ears experienced possibly one of the most horrid sounds to date. One of those damn spike traps went off (the spears that emerge from the walls), and I had my headset up on a rather high volume too. I flung back as fast as I could IRL and threw my damn headset off like it was trying to probe my head.

T. Rakinson

A Brute among Beasts
Skeever attacks at night, Frostbite Spider falling from the ceiling in Bleak Falls Barrow, Ash Spawn popping up out of nowhere, Spriggan Earth Mother charging at me, Falmer leaping out of the shadows, Sabre Cat pouncing at me, death hounds on the roads and Gargoyle statues exploding in my face. Also, children pretending to be invisible, but I can hear them through the walls.
*shudders*

My gaming sessions are scary in general.

The first time I encountered Chauruses (Chauri?), in Frostflow Lighthouse. They were fast, spat poison, and could do real damage. After the first one I became really jumpy every time I heard that clicking sound.

I was in a Dwarven ruin. Just killed a bunch of spiders and spheres, and it had gone silent. Except for this distant clank, clank, clank. Figured I'd missed a spider somewhere and looked around a bit, but found nothing. It's getting louder now. Clank, clank, clank. Can't find what's making the noise for the life of me. Clank, clank, clank! Finally turn around and there's a DWARVEN CENTURION RIGHT THERE. Scared the hell out of me, and I am not one to get scared by video games!

Gregor Moon Fang

Champion of Azura
• Nimhe respawning and jumping on my head after I cleared out Nchuand-Zel (now that I think about it I had no problems with Frostbite Spiders until this moment)

• The very first time I encountered a Chaurus Hunter (the adult ones) I was going through Mzulft with my female Redguard Mage and about halfway through I open one of the doors and right behind the door I'm met with this giant ass flying bug right in my face. This honestly made me jump off my chair.

• A Lurker jumping out of the water in Apocrypha

• Running through the Pale and having a Revered Dragon spawn right in front of my face while getting blasted with fire

Mercutio

Assistant Regional Manager
I was walking through the forgotten vale, trying to find all the shrines to get auriel's bow, when I start across a mostly frozen lake. I approached a word wall, roughly halfway across the lake, when not one but two dragons leap from beneath the surface of the water and take flight, breathing flames and ice at me. I nearly crapped myself right then

Tosh Raka

Tiger Dragon of Ka'Po'Tun
Its tough to pick out a jump scare when there wasn't too many scary moments. But i do recall a moment where upon an icy shore, and with no warning, with his massive tusks and evil whiskers, i was caught with the cold beady death stare of a Hoarker.

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.
Falmer ambush, though I must admit, at the time of said ambush, I was getting pretty cocky waltzing through a random cave that never seemed to end. No conflict for a while. Never a good thing if you're already feeling cocky. Silent bastards until they decide to attack.

My biggest was my first meeting with the Traveller for some reason, I think because I completely wasn't expecting to be attacked in a city I'd already been wandering around in for a while. This was basically my thought process at the time:

"Okay, I've handed in that quest so now I guess I'll go to the inn...who's that? Travellor? It's a new Dawnguard NPC. How exciting, I'd better talk to him. Hey, he's looking at me and walking towards me! Sweet, he must have a new quest for me..."

And that's when he hissed: "I love it when dinner walks right into my arms" and bam, half my health was gone and I had contracted sanguinare vampiris. If Serana hadn't been there I'd have probably died while I was flailing trying to get my head around the fact I had to heal myself and prepare to fight back.

That fat spider Nimhe landing on my head on the first playthrough. And to this day there's always this one Falmer troll skulking towards me and me noticing in the last moment resulting in a near-heart attack.

Dabiene Caristiana

Your friendly neighborhood weirdo
I remember this one time, going into a dungeon I've been in a few times already. Usually I'm pretty good at remembering which enemies are where. This time though...

I was just dinking around, waltzing through the nordic ruin when the music stopped. I thought, "Huh, weird." I waited for a few seconds for the infamous sound of a draugr growling. Nothing. I continued down the corridor thinking "I got this. Ha, nothing is gonna get me." (Decent level character mind you)

Then all of a sudden, before my mind could process what was making that sound I heard running wet feet behind me, so I spun around and two big ass blue glowing eyes are right in my face, with rotten ugly teeth wide open along with a sword through my belly. Scared the FIDDLESTICKS out of me.

One might think, "How is that scary?" Well, no music, sound turned up to 30 on the tv which is LOUD due to 360 being loud in settings, having very loud footsteps that sound like they are literally RIGHT BEHIND YOU kinda freaks you out.

I was very thankful I invested in a good set of armor. Yesh. Afterwards I decked him and muttered, "son of a bitch, scaring me like that.." and went on my marry way.

Don't recall getting good loot though. You'd think you would get some good loot after nearly having your heart stop.
