I'm ready to get one of the Skyrim DLC's. From what I've read and seen on YT.
Dawnguard looks lackluster, and can be a pain in the ass. With all the Vampires.
But it looks like it has some good content... Dragonborn looks more enticing in many ways!

Just getting an opinion, which one is better to get first
?

They are equally good DLCs. I got lucky and they were both on sale. Personally, I like Dragonborn. It comes with a lot of cool features

I'd get both, but I feel that Dragonborn is overall a better DLC.

Well, once you complete the DG questline, no more vampires attack towns and stuff, regardless of who you join. Both are beneficial, though. DB gives you werewolf rings, the Bend Will shout which can be used on dragons, and a huge map to explore, with relatively new enemies to fight. DG gives you the VL, and werewolf perks to boot. It takes place mostly in Skyrim, but you can get two powerful shouts, and a few good conjuration spells. I would pick DG because I've had more fun on it, but they're both very good additions to vanilla Skyrim.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Get both! Get both!

One has vampires, werewolves and really cool armor and weapons along with an awesome land forgotten by time and the other has Dunmer, Dragons and a bad guy that puts Alduin to shame.

Get both! They're so cheap now it's silly.

Oh, and you can make arrows too and use crossbows and get even more SHOUTS!

Buy both, but do the Dawnguard questline first, followed by Dragonborn - I did that and I felt that the story flowed quite well considering the interlocking storylines of both DLCs. :D

I think they're both equally good DLCs, if you can, get both.
Dawnguard DLC has fully upgradable werewolf and vampire perk trees, the Dawnguard faction and the Volkihar Clan, the Soul Cairn and the Forgotten Vale, Dragonbone weapons and Auriel's Bow and Shield, and the Lost to the Ages quest.
Dragonborn DLC has the island of Solstheim and Apocrypha, Black Books, Stalhrim, Nordic and Bonemold armor and weapons, Deathbrand armor set, and unique dragon priest masks.

It's all up to you and what you prefer.

Dawnguard is the only DLC I deleted because I hate the vampire attacks and the main quest is tedious as sh!t and I never intend to go through all that bollocks with the vampire princess again. Dawnguard does offer alternative storylines depending on whether you choose to side with the vampires or vampire hunters, but you still have to go through the same major quest, and it's all totally unrelated to everything else that's going on in Skyrim (you know, like civil wars and dragons) and does nothing for my role-play style except ruin it by trying to force me into pursuing an irrelevant vampire quest. Yes, there are some fun features if you're a casual gamer, including crossbows and different types of explosive bolts and dogs and trolls that can be used as followers and spells and items that work well against undead enemies, but ultimately I'm glad to be rid of it. Try it out as a Halloween decoration and see if you like it.

Dragonborn is much better because it actually goes into the history of the Dragonborn and ancient Nord culture and lets you explore some Dunmer culture and there are some great new NPCs to meet. and of course, lots of new shouts and powers to gain. Only problem is there's not much reason to head back there if you start another character, there's not many things you can play out differently, no new factions to join or alternative storyline events. But again, good for casual gaming, and Dragonborn doesn't force itself on you as badly as Dawnguard does.

Hearthfire is my fave DLC, it doesn't offer much to PC gamers with their fancy mods, but us lowly console gamers get to enjoy having new customizable houses that can enhance our role-playing and some new housecarls (I do love my followers) and the option to recruit stewards and grow your own ingredients - a must for alchemy fans, or if you fancy taking a break from adventuring to do some farming and cooking and raising a family. Ultimately Hearthfire is what I want in a DLC - added features, not whole new quests because Skyrim already has enough quests and dungeons and factions as it is.

I agree with you completely - Dawnguard has its positives, but is weighed down by a lot of negatives.:D:coffee:

Right now I only have Dawnguard, and while I do enjoy it a lot, having crossbows, werewolf perks, vampire lord, etc. I find that the main questline doesn't have very much replay value. I often find myself starting it just to get Vampire Lord, dropping Serana off somewhere (I don't really like her as a follower, other than her voice), then just doing whatever and not touching it again. So take that for what you will.

Also, if you're anything like me, if you only get one you're going to wish you got the other instead.

Time for some ale
I had to get all three. If for some reason I was limited to one, I suppose I'd grudgingly pick Dragonborn, mainly for the added content. Yet Hearthfire would be a close second. With my own Great Hall, I can feel as though I've truly become someone of renown in Skyrim, since most great deeds go ignored and unacknowledged within the game. I can have my own steward, my own housecarl, and even my own bard, along with a fully equipped forge and an armory in which to display the myriad armor and weapons that I've crafted, (and bottles of mead and ale that I've collected). I can have separate towers for both enchanting and alchemy, complete with all the storage one could want for soul gems, ingredients, and crafting accessories. I simply can't fathom the negativity that I occasionally see expressed toward this essential DLC.
