The Balance

Own Face.
So - I've gotten rather stale in Skyrim. Made a few characters, beat all of the quests I found interesting and enjoyable. Blindly adventured, distributed wholesale destruction through most of the land, etc. But I'm at a point where character development isn't really doing it for me anymore (the incentive to level is gone because I destroy anything ~level 35+ anyway)

What does everyone else here do to keep the game fresh and new? I've tried modding and new content, and some of that is pretty fun - but I'm also struggling to find good mods or player developed content that actually makes sense and is fun. Any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

I guess, not much else, I keep on changing builds.
If you are too much bored change game for a while and come back to skyrim after a couple of months

are you playing on the highest difficulty?? I also found it very refreshing to start a new game w/ a completely different type of character than I was used to playing with.

Put the game into master level difficulty, start a new character and roleplay it like some of the stories on here. Make the character only use one weapon until very proficent in it, then switch up.
Start as a pure mage and only use magic, no armor.
Start as an archer and only use a bow.
Play as a Paladine of old D&D style. Pray only to one god, wear heavy armor, swing a sword and a shield.
Play as ONLY a good person. Don't kill the innoncent but help them all.
You say you only did the quests you found enjoyable, ok, now go as one of the above, but go get them all, the trick there being to do a little of one and then go to another and another and then come back to the other ones.

Bad to the Dragonbone.
Don't level up. Try the game as a level 1 character. Unless you just have to have high level treasure you're not missing much and the game can still be challenging. Plus, if that becomes boring you can level up all at once and pick and choose the kind of build and perks you want to try. I haven't played this style on a higher difficulty than Adept.

I suggest turning up the difficulty and completing all of the quests except the radiant ones. There are a lot of quests to be completed besides the ones that go on indefinitely. That is what I have done with my first character and am working on the same thing with my level 26. As it becomes less challenging I turn up the difficulty.

One of my favorite things to do is enter a town and go on a rampage slaying everyone I can find. It's a great way to try out new weapon combos, spells etc. Be sure to save before you go on your killing spree, though. My assassin has also enjoyed murdering a guard from each city and collecting their armor. I now have a complete set of guard armor from each Skyrim city. I display the various armors on the mannequins in my homes. Sometimes for humor, I have my assassin girl raid dungeons in her underwear with no armor at all. It's hilarious watching her kick the crap out of bandits and undead in what amounts to a bikini. My character is now 60th level, so as you can see, you have to really get creative for the game not to grow stale. Lately, I've had fun using the Unrelenting Force shout to kill bad guys who are standing near ledges etc. I've managed to knock off quite a few of them from the fall itself.

DovahCap

The one cube to rule them all.
Markarth Undercity mod, a good few hours of entertainment before it gets boring, but it's well modded and adds new enemies, yay.

Katastrophe

King of Tales
Up difficulty, self-imposed rules...
I've found the creative aspect of character journals and such to also keep the game interesting.

Play as a completely passive monk. Calm/frenzy/Conjuration/followers only. No weapons, no kills. If u kill anything you have to stay at the temple of the divines in solitude for a week n game and repent. thus also means u must destroy dark brotherhood. Or never deal with them.
