DON'T EXPECT SPOILER WARNINGS FROM ME
Thalmor are mine favorite faction,... for killing, that is ;)

Reaper87

I like the Dark Botherhood, because if you join them, you actually feel like you're in a secret organisation and both feared and respected. Plus, the payouts are good hehe ;)

LuChao

The Martial artist
I loved all of them in Oblivion and in Skyrim I like the thieves guild the DB and Companions I not asmuch of a fan of the Mages guild in Skyrim it feels to short and not many good perks from it tbh

Mighty Pecan Pie

The secret American
Nightingales from Skyrim.

Kohlar the Unkilled

I agree that the Mage's Guild in Cyrodiil, is satisfying and fulfilling. My current character got his admission into Arcane University before going to Kvatch and finding Martin. :beermug:

I hear that Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood is very good, but I'm waiting on that for the time being. I just killed the first guy, and somehow everyone seems to know... I keep getting, "I used to think you were some kind of hero.." from just about everybody! Yesterday, a highway man said it to me..! He didn't even attack, just ran up, said that line and went on his way.

Really? I've never had that happen to me. Of course, I have only ever played a mage once, and a dozen or so sneakystabbylooty :ashstab: guys in Oblivion...

As for the thread.... definitely the Oblivion TG. Sooo much more interesting than Skyrim's. Not to mention you eventually become a ghost ;)

In vanilla, I like the Nightingales, and by extension the Thieves Guild. They actually feel like they truly represent what they stand for. I want to like the Dark Brotherhood more, but meh. They just don't cut the mustard for me. (Though they do cut other things.)

DLC-wise, both the Volkihar and the Dawnguard are enjoyable factions for me, with a fairly rich history to explore. Both strongholds for said factions are arguably the best-looking ones aesthetically and design-wise, and I felt truly immersed in the atmosphere that Bethesda was going for.

-The Ice Queen-

Rightful Queen of Skyrim
Thieves Guild/Nightingales. I love Karliah and the quest in the Dwarven ruins, sneaking past Falmer and enjoying the epic atmosphere.

Yeh I know how you feel your suppose to be a stealthy assassin yet the whole of cyrodill knows about the people you killed, it kinda ruins the feeling of being an assassin.

I've only played Skyrim so I don't 'bout the rest, but in Skyrim definitely DB. All characters except Cicero and Festus are great and the questline is pretty epic.

The thieves guild would be cool too but they're just a low-class mob with uncountable internal issues who blame a curse for they're lact of success.

Okay I don't want to go off topic so I won't go any further but they are a mob. They beat up and send to jail people for control and they Allie with the powerful guys of the area.

I can only talk about Skyrim's factions, and my favourite is the Dawnguard by default because I feel all the rest have massive flaws.

I hate the Thieves Guild because I dislike being forced to sell your soul to Nocturnal to finish the questline, and working to help Maven Black-Briar, Olfrid Battle-Born and Erikur makes me sick. I also dislike how the Thieves Guild think they are such admirable moral people because they only steal and frame people but draw the line at murder.

The Companions infuriate me because I hate that you are forced to become a werewolf, slay a fort of Silverhands to celebrate my transformation and help Aela on her quest for vengeance without the chance to say no, suggest that maybe the Silverhands hate werewolves because we keep killing them or dob her into Kodlak.

The 1021 pages of the Imperials vs Stormcloaks thread have eloquently stated the reasons both these sides are immoral idiots who deserve nothing but scorn, so I won't repeat myself.

The Mage College might have been my favourite. I find their dedication to knowledge admirable and I love going through the Labyrinthian while Morokei taunts you. But I was pretty taken aback when I was made Archmage the first time. I couldn't believe they overlooked all the professors and students who'd been there way longer than me when I'd been there less than a week.

Volkihar vampires and the Dark Brotherhood I hate for subjective reasons: I find it strangely hard to hurt or kill innocent NPCs. I knew I was sticking with the Dawnguard when I walked in and saw the vampires chomping at people lying on tables.

It was really hard for me to kill Narfi and the ex-millworker and Maro's much loved son. But I did. And I felt I was rewarded emotionally as well as financially. The Dark Brotherhood was the only faction whose NPCs I felt a genuine connection with. I really did feel I was part of a family. I loved how they welcomed me, and how I earned the respect and affection of them all, even the crankier ones. Then they all got killed except my two least favourite. fluff you Bethesda.

And on the subject of Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood, I have to share this. Oblivion was apparently identical to Skyrim in the NPC AI being as dumb as rocks and a profession that had a strange aversion to wearing pants: http://cowboypunk.deviantart.com/art/Lets-Play-Oblivion-MURDERER-274012539

Yeh, I agree with some of the points you make about the factions of skyrim like you having to become a werewolf to finsh the companion's quest line and you being practically a deadra's servant towards the end of the thieves guild questline but I don't quite understand what you mean about finding it hard to hurt or kill innocent NPC'S , why do you find it hard?

Maybe his moral compass is wonky and telling him that NPCs aren't almost slightly human which means they can't be considered "innocent."

What I mean is on skyrim why can't they kill random NPC'S in Skyrim. I understand not killing NPC'S you've grown an attachment to like follower 's or spouse's but random NPC'S who you have no connection to and they may not be as innocent as they've been shown to be, why is it hard to hurt/kill them?
