Talsgar the Wanderer is bad news. Whenever you see him, run...in the opposite direction.

Every single freaking time I see this dude I get attacked by wild animals. For instance...

Wandering through the Rift, just past Riften, past the farm with the only clucking chickens in all of Skyrim, and I see him on the road up ahead. "This dude is trouble" I think to myself.. right as four red dots appear. Four giant frostbite spiders attack. So Lydia and I are fighting them off..suddenly I am spun around and the Fugitive is shoving a stolen weapon into my hands..
"DUDE! GIANT SPIDERS!...." I turn around and in front of me are the spiders...and now a bear.
"...AND A BEAR!!" We finish them off.. with no thanks from that wandering Bard. During the fray the thief got himself killed. (may or may not have been due to a well placed crossbow bolt to the head) Then the owner of the weapon runs up and I hand over his sword.
"I'm going to find that thief and I'm going to murder him!" declares the hunter hotly.
Dude look down.. no seriously.. he's there, dead, right at your feet. For the love of Tal... wait.. why is the dragon music starting..? familiar roar of fire
AW COM' ON!!!

The Rift is always trouble. When I was last in the Rift fighting a Legendary Dragon... Three trolls decide to rush me. THREE GOD DAMN TROLLS.

How is it that Riverwood, a miserable little village just south of Whiterun, plays an inconceivably huge significance to the main storyline, but Markarth plays no role, despite being a major hold capitol, whatsoever.

I love Talsgar! Whenever I come across him, he's usually kicking the total crap out of something. I watched him take down two bears and a group of bandits singlehandedly once. And then he's just like HAIL FRIEND! LET ME SING YOU A SONG!

I hate Nazeer. I just hate him. Believe me, I'm not an aggressive person but I swear tomorrow I'm going to kill him. I don't how, but who cares, there's a post for that. And I'll probably quick save just before so I can repeat it over and over again.
I also hate the companions. You think you're better than me because I'm new? Well, you know what I'm not giving you the war axe, just stay in that cave 'till you rot or something. The other day I turned into a werewolf and killed everyone in Jorrvarsk. So much for great warriors...
And what's with the lexicon mission anyway? What kinda plopsy reward is that? I was expecting to discover the dwarven's history, and all I get is a lousy bonus for dwarven armor? Who uses dwarven armor anyway?

Random enough?

So I just re-started playing the Dawnguard DLC on my main character, this time on the Dawnguards' side instead of the vampires, due to a bug I ran into on the vampire side the last time I played.
I also recently made the decision to up the difficulty to Expert instead of Adept (my previously played on difficulty). My character is level 58 now, almost level 59, and is up past 90 (or close to 90) in more than one skill tree. Adept has become way to easy. I like to slowly upgrade my difficulty as my character gets stronger in RPGs anyway, so.
I must say its brought back the fun in Skyrim. That and not wearing mage robes - she was wearing the Arch-Mage Robes, Morokei, and a ring that boosted her magicka regen 80 percent, plus using an ebony mace that took away magicka on contact from her enemies; it took away all the fun being in virtual mage god mode. :/
Anyway to my point. I'm not sure if it's because I upped the difficulty or because it's my second time playing on the same character, but I think I discovered a way to get the Necromantic Healing spell tome for free without buying it from the College or the Volkihars. In the room in Dimhollow Crypt, the one after you get you-know-who out of the obelisk thing, and after you kill the Draugr in the Word Wall area, in the room right after that one? On a little table below the steps in a small alcove near the entrance of the room, is the Necromantic Healing spell tome. I'm not sure if it's just in my game or if it's there in every game, or even if it changes randomly to a different spell book. But if it's always the same, this'd be a good way to get it for free and without joining the Volkihars or risking it not being at the College - or at the very least not having to spend the coin on it. Thought I should share. :)
Funny though, I never found that alcove my first time through Dimhollow. Go figure!

Apologies for posting twice in a row but speaking of the Dawnguard DLC, I've discovered a few things while re-playing it. For one, while solving the puzzle to get you-know-who out of the obelisk, I noticed that whenever the area lit up with that purple glow, a blue aura would appear around my character and move towards the purple glow. It was really neat looking, and it didn't happen the last time I played through Dimhollow.
Also I never realized before that in a way, the Vigilant did know something about Dimhollow, just not what the vampires were looking for. And that the Vigilants were probably killed for it. I also wonder if the Volkihars who killed Vigilant Tyranus bothered to read the book he had with him? If so, why bother asking him about Dimhollow? If not, how did the book just happen to fall out of his pocket? Game mechanics or something else?
Finally maybe it's because I'm on Expert difficulty now but the enemies were fighting much differently than last time. Instead of rushing to their deaths in the form of charging at my character, they actually seemed to be using strategy. More than once if they were in pairs, one would hit me with a weapon while the other kept their distance and hit me with spells. In the room before the obelisk puzzle, the Ancient Vampire kept her distance and hit my character and her follower with Chain Lightning, after sending resurrected skeletons after us.
I wonder what else will be different this time around? Time will tell I suppose. :)

I was doing the Alduin-raises-Sahloknir quest yesterday. After Alduin flew off, Sahloknir circled the hill and attacked Delphine and I once... then started flying southeast, away from Kynesgrove. I thought he'd circle back around, but he landed down in the marshes. I ran after him, and found him battling with a traveling Khajiit caravan, a giant, and a couple of mammoths.

Moral of the story: Sahloknir has ADD.

I finally did it, I killed Nazeer. And I enjoyed every second of it. In the process I discovered just how strong the vampire lord form is, I killed all the guards of whiterun and still was able to revert the transformation and leave in a slow badass way of walking.

So as I have said previously, I'm re-playing the Dawnguard DLC on my main character. Well I was just finishing up the part of the main quest that takes place in the (spoiler warning!)..

Soul Cairn. You know, the part where you've just received the scroll and "defeated" Durnehviir (defeated in quotes because he can't really be killed)? Well see, I have a habit of going through the dialog menus over again at times. Sometimes it's for RP reasons, sometimes just because I haven't heard said dialog in a while and want to hear it again, and sometimes just out of boredom or to feel like I've completed everything.
So I've walked out of the Boneyard and I'm at the part where Durnehviir names my character Qahnaarhin (spelling?) and has given me the Shout to call him into Tamriel. Just for fun mostly and partly because even though I've played through it once already, I'm still trying to roleplay - I select the part of his dialogue where your character asks him why he decided to name said character Qahnaarin. He says something about acknowledging her as a fellow dovah and my character says, "But I'm not a dragon." And this is where Durnehviir's dialogue changed for me from what it was last time. He says (I'm paraphrasing obviously), "Even down here in the Soul Cairn, I have heard of your defeat of Alduin. Your defeat of the World Eater has earned you the title of dovah."
It's funny because on my last play through, I hadn't killed Alduin just yet - in fact I was playing the Dawnguard DLC first in order to get some gear to help my character get ready to do just that. So it was kinda cool to not only hear how his dialogue changed, but also to be acknowledged by an awesome undead zombie dragon. lol
I just thought that was a really nice touch by Bethesda. Wanted to share it. :)

I wonder how Heimskr is doing these days - on some great adventure, no doubt.

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.
So I noticed shortly after I got the Hearthfire DLC, I also lost Shadowmere. Now, the horses that were purchased for me were fine. But every time I dismounted, they'd start their slow stroll back home. Or worse, die in battle. Right.

So I went back to the destroyed DB hideout and waited for Shadowmere to rise from the pool. And waited. And waited. Then I started walking around the premises, acting like I was even remotely interested in harvesting Deathbells, etc.

DISCO!!! Here comes the bubbling pool. And my bestest buddy in the game. <3

Several mods involved in this story.

I started yet another new game, and went through Helgen using nothing but Flames (plus a little Healing). Once we got out of the cave, we started fighting a pack of seven wolves placed on the path not far from the cave entrance. That was the beginning of a 43-minute period during which I faced 11 wolves, a Stormcloak patrol (complete with an armoured wolf) that was hostile for some unknown reason, a bear, a bandit and an Ancient Spriggan Matriarch (basically a Giant with a Spriggan appearance).

And I only used Flames throughout the battles. My Destruction went from 10 to 24 between Alduin's appearance and reaching Riverwood. Was epic! :D

Went back to trying to 100% my Skyrim copy on XBOX 360 this time since I already did on PS3, I will say it's been fun and not too much of a chore. Fallout 3 has already become a chore and I hardly started playing it again. Vampire Lord mastered was the last one I got and all I did was turn it to Novice difficulty and spammed the right hand. Also as Vampire Lord, I came across a spirit that lead me to his grave that was being ransacked by bandits, I got to level up my VL thanks to this ghost calling for help and the one thing that I like about being forced to explore in order to continue leveling my Vampire Lord or Werewolf (since map is inaccessible), I can fill my map out no problem. I went through many locations looking for victims in one night, filling in 4 holds with no problem at all. From Dawnstar down to Whiterun and out from Morthal to Solitude to the northern Falkreath borders. I had fun this time. :p
