Since I'm a little rusty on the lore can you send me a link to this history of the Nords telling others what gods they can and cannot worship? Who were these Priests that they were burning to the steak? What religion were they worshiping?
This was our land. We were here first. Then the Nords came and put chains on us. Forbid us from worshipping our gods." - Madanach
Immediately thereafter the scribes wrote down the first new law of his reign: a fiery reinstatement of the traditional Nordic pantheon. The Edicts were outlawed, their priests put to the stake, and their halls set ablaze. - Five Songs of King Wulfhharth
While the Stormcloaks sole religion is Talos I do not see them pushing the other Divines to the side. I might be wrong, but I do not have to be pro Nord for me to be Pro Stormcloak.
I'm sure religious militants will be understanding and open minded to others worshipping something else. The Alessian Order had a sole religion, a religious military arm and well... Lets just say they weren't too friendly.
About the Priestess of Talos in Riften I wouldn't take her dialogue too seriously with regards to Mara. Everyone is overly emotional at this point. The Empire essentially surrendered to the Aldmeri Dominion to end the Great war at a great price of banning a popular religion that was the heart of the Empire itself. Everyone is on edge fearing what will come next.
It happened twenty six years ago. I would take her dialogue as a sign to come, that the other Divines will get pushed aside one way or another.
Who is this ethnic group you speak of? I assume you're talking about the Forsworn, right? The ethic group that goes around murdering innocent travelers? While I do not fully support the Silver-bloods I do support the concept of enslaving criminals for profit. The Forsworn do not have my sympathy, not a drop of tear. One Forsworn in particular said in the prison that if he gets out the first thing hes going to do is to kill a random Nord.
Except the Silver-Bloods are creating the Forsworn, many who were sent to that prison weren't Forsworn but they became it inside.
Enslaving criminals for profit doesn't make you better than the criminal, and what do you do when demand for silver increases and you need more prisoners? Just throw who you want in there next? That silver is your largest source of wealth, and people die all the time in TES prisons due to poor health and what not. So you'll require a constant flow of "criminals".
There is a huge difference between RL religion and the religion that takes place in The elders scrolls I don't need to explain much, but Elders scrolls gods are actually real considering the fictional gods in real life I wont speak much on that matters because I would be sure to offend the religious people here
Elder Scrolls Gods are all aspects of each other. You don't need to scream about them and force them onto anyone who can hear you. Worshipping quietly is quite a good practice.
Though RL religion... Can't we get a Concordat on them?
