Heh, well i decided a few weeks ago that I would trade in my manly man for a new Character. I figured, what the heck, lets go a bit nuts.

"Hot Chick" was the result. She's currently level 17 and a mixture of mage/thief/archer.

Anyone have opposite sex characters? It's kind of fun lol.

yeah I often play characters of the opposite sex. I never quite understand why not or why some people find it strange or anything. there are discussions about this in any forum of any rpg i've ever played. I'm playing a magic sword wielding murdering undead archer thief magician necromancer priest cat druid (or whatever it might be in that particular instance :p), why wouldnt I also vary the sexes :/

it all depends on the mood I'm in for an rp character

Rarely. If I wanna make a hot chick, I'll just improve some Forsworn and give it to Serana or something. At least that way I can see it. :)

I'm a woman, and I have always played female characters when possible. I can really identify with a female char, a lot more than with a male.

BUT ... I have been curious to play a male for quite some time and will probably try it out soon. I have some big brute Nord beefcake in mind, which I can drool over, haha --- I'm no better than all the male gamers playing with a "hot chick" and ogling the boobies, lol

I'm female and I always go for females when given the chance to choose a gender, mostly because a great deal of games out there don't give you a choice about what gender the player character is. And a depressing amount of the ones that do give you a choice about what gender you want to be only too obviously assumed that mostly straight guys would be playing this game, so all the male NPCs treat you like a brother and all the female NPCs treat you like a love interest, and not a female love interest either.

So with this gaming background, I'm inclined not to play as a character contrary to my own gender and orientation because Skyrim is the first game I've played where my character finally has a chance to match my own. If I want to play as a guy there are about six million other games out there I can do that.

Yeah, I think most people will play a character of the opposite sex in a Resident Evil game or a beat-'em-up or something and not think anything of it, because the whole story is predetermined and you're just following it like you would a movie. But with a very open game like Skyrim you do get to make your own decisions and determine the outcome of certain events and it's entirely up to you how you interact with the world and its people so a lot of players will feel more comfortable doing these things as a character with the same sex.

Plus the ability to have a same sex marriage makes me feel even more connected to my male characters. I'll play a lesbian character from time to time, but naturally I'm going to prefer playing as a man who likes men.

Well, yes. Playing as a woman in gaming just feels kinda awkward, unless I'm playing a game online and I want other players to know that I am a female. Although it does get pretty annoying after a while…

Random player: "Whoa, you're a girl?"
Me: "Yeah, so?"
Random player: "Are ya hot?"
Me: "…." *leaves lobby, gets friend request moments later* "… Nope." *deletes*

I prefer to play as a male (in most games) just so I can ogle over my man's charming good-looks, haha. What can I say I enjoy having something nice to look at. :D

I generally play a male char, so I can pretend to voice them.

Since it statistically doesn't matter usually I will play a male. Because I feel weird playing a characature of a woman. As that guy who hates over sexualization in everything I try to avoid the whole "virtual Sex doll" character. I want to develop her as a person before I play.

This was an issue in fighting games when I had to balance the hate of over sexualized against the fact the girl wearing just a bra and pants having that awesome moveset That clicks with me.

Yeah, when i made "Hot Chick", i figured that she'd be a character that used whatever she picked up, with no enchanting or smithing. Alchemy, yes. I actually don't run around with the Foresworn armor on much (had to take a picture because i'm your typical male lol), but am wearing the thieves guild armor, soon to be the nightingale armor.

Part of the appeal of playing a female character is trying to make her a bit more realistic with light armor only, light on her feet, quick, etc... Instead of my super Voorth Dragon Armor Bash Your Head In character.

Why change the past when you can own this day?
I have fun creating female characters because I feel more connected to them. I have two males and like three females haha. My archer is a female bosmer, my spellsword is a female nord, my evil dark mage is a vampire Dunmer. As for roleplaying, I have an even mix.

I really play both because I don't understand why it's strange lol. I've been raisedby my mother who is tough, hard working, and amazing. In Mortal Kombat X, I'm loving playing as Cassie Cage. I love her personality her moves, she is great in the story and is not irritating like her parents lol.

My first and longest played character is a female. Mainly because who doesn't love a badass woman :) I don't immerse myself into the story, in the sense of putting myself in the game. "What would I do?"

so it doesn't really matter what gender I play. I make a character and create a story for that character.

As a girl, I usually play girl characters. I do have male characters but only very few compared to the females. I think it's because I like to identify with my characters and how their environment reacts towards them.

I don't pick an backstory to begin with, I just start. And along the way I create the character. Reverse creating haha
