For my main character, it would have to be Massive Attack - Paradise Circus. Really had to think about this one because my character is rather complicated and a whole mess of seeming contradictions. The lyrics and sound of this song match her very well though. She's a Bosmer nightblade werewolf named Serah Estiph (if you were wondering). Here's a link to the video of the song - just so ya'll can see what it sounds like. Haven't watched the video myself, tbh.

Man, this is tough. Let's be honest. If we have a character with in-depth background, they would have multiple songs describing them as they go through high and low points in their life.
MAIN THEME however...
... That's a toughy.
Since I have so many in game characters, I'll just go with Role playing characters that I use on the forums. Since I can't narrow it down to one.. I'll put the main song first, and any sub themes thereafter.. As well as reasons. Enjoy.

- Coming from an aristocratic family that was snobbish, abusive and neglectful she did not want to become them or a politician. Rather preferring to work on the arcane arts as well as finding herself. Nevertheless, although things ended very badly between her and her parents, she wishes them the best.

- She has her demons to face such as lycanthropy, or the beast. As well as her past. However she will constantly "stand her ground", knowing it is pointless to run. This also including standing her ground and defending friends and loved ones.

- He has done a lot of bad stuff in his life in retaliation on what happened to his friends, family, and his village. And now he has to live with them.
Pull Me Under - Dream Theater -
- He has accepted whatever fate faces him as well as his actions, for better or worse, and is no longer afraid. This happens later in his life.
