I've decided I don't want Dawnguard any more. But I'd like some advice.
If I remove the Dawnguard DLC, will it cause problems for the save files of the games I've saved so far?
Thanks for any help.

I play on the xbox 360 but I assume this will happen on ps3 as well. At oone point my dawngaurd dlc was taken of my hard drive, when I would go back to play my game file it would not allow me to. If you decide to get rid of dawngaurd any characters you hage saved with dawngaurd dlc it won't allow you to play.

Exactly what drem said. Only, possibly, you could try and remove all the items you got from Dawnguard and then delete the DLC. If you have spells or quests left over from it though, that may not work. Otherwise you would have to just make new characters after you delete Dawnguard. :/ So I would suggest, honestly, just not doing any quests or anything from them if you dislike it. Easier than deleting the Dawnguard DLC itself.

Thanks for the info. I do start new characters quite regularly now, and I RP with them. I don't try to reach level 80 with them or anything like that, I tend to play short games where I focus on the quests that suit the personal story for the character I've created. And none of the Dawnguard content really fits in with how i play, so I don't think I'll miss it.

I purchased Dawnguard on the 360 and I tend to delete and redownload it from time to time, simply because of the vampire attacks. What I started doing was when I start a new character, I make sure Dawnguard is deleted. I redownload it after I have finished a majority of the quests that require non-protected NPCs who can die. I also (depending on my character) try to make sure that the Thieves Guild quests are taken care of as well, all the traveling it requires to rebuild the guild (the Bedlam job, Fishing, Numbers, etc.) spawns many many vampire attacks for me. Once I am comfortable and feel as if no one "important" can die, I just redownload Dawnguard and I am good to go. Bring it on vampires

(on ps3) I uninstalled skyrim one time, months later decided to reinstall it and forgot the dlc's, loaded one of my old saves that ended after the dawnguard questline but appeared in the riverwood inn with ragged trousers on with all the quest completed that i did before i started dawnguard. I install dawnguard and load that save back up and its back at the castle with everything i completed and obtained. So for ps3 i can confirm no save files become unplayable or chaorrupted.

Finally pulled the plug on Dawnguard (I know, I brought this topic up ages ago, but I stuck it out until now) I had to delete all DLCs at once, including Hearthfire and Dragonborn. I reinstalled only Hearthfire for my newest game, because my immediate goal was to become thane of Dawnstar, and it turns out that I can still load my previous games, but any DLC related items I picked up were gone from my inventory. I'll probably bring back Dragonborn at some point, but good riddance to those cock sucking vampire c#nts.
