It depends on the path you want your character to follow. If you were planning to join the companions, you can get a Skyforge steel greatsword (Elven quality) from Eorlund. If not, you might try Redoran's Retreat, out between Fort Greymoor and Dustman's Cairn. It's a small bandit cave with usually 3 bandits and a dog. You can sneak-shoot the dog and the first two bandits, and only have the bandit chief to deal with after that. They usually have a two-handed weapon on them. I'd save after you've disposed of the two main bandits, then take on the bandit chief alone. If there's no 2-Handed weapon on them, reload your save and kill them again. (paralysis potions strongly recommended for dealing with chiefs...canis root, imp stool.)

I'm trying to think of an easily-obtained 2H weapon, laying about Skyrim, and I'm drawing a blank. I'll post again, if/when one comes to mind that is guaranteed 2H.

Oh crap, the steel battleaxe of fiery souls. Derp. I forgot all about it. Go to Ironbind Barrow, up near the Nightgate Inn. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Ironbind_Barrow

Short dungeon, with two helpers.
The argonian mage and human adventurer will help you all the way until the end. When you've killed the warlord, get to
where you can pick up the battleaxe off the back of his throne. The mage will betray you, and will raise the warlord to try to kill you. Best bet is to kill the mage first, and the warlord
will fizzle out. Then you've got a steel battleaxe that does both fire damage and soul trap. :D

There's also the Ebony Blade, a daedric artifact. That one is tied to a quest though.

Try the war-hammer from the The Cursed Tribe quest..... Volendrung NOTE it is a war-hammer, but has the speed of a greatswrd = more damage per second than any other war-hammers & drains stamina so you can do more power attacks (cant remember how much):)

Go to Lost Valkygg and take on the Deathlord in the lower tier that uses an Ebony Greatsword. You better have some help, because he's quite brutal.

You can also smith to get different types of two handed weapons it is optional my suggestions are 1# Defeat bandit chiefs for their two handed weapons. 2# Daedric artifacts have powerful enchantments on them. And 3# Smith for the two handed weapons. Either way you can get what you want. :Dovahkiin:

There's an Elven Greatsword on the plaque in the Riften Jarl's quarters. Also if you have Dragonborn dlc, you may acquire Stormfang and the Bloodskal Blade.
The last one I can think of is the Axe of Whiterun. The Jarl will give it to you after the first dragon is killed if you haven't passed that point. Make a save and reload it if he doesn't give you a TH. Oh wait, I almost forgot the Hamvir's Rest weapon. Just defeat a few skeletons and a leveled Draugr Scourge, and take the weapon lying on the left. Unless it's always a Iron Battle Axe. I don't remember.

If you're looking to increase the skill, then you can always train with Farkas. But that gets expensive. Unless you want to use exploits in which....

The Kajhiit Caravan hidden chest in Dawnstar always carries leveled weapons.

Hope this helped.

When Farkas is your follower, you can get your money back :D

Atleast, that worked with Aela for me.

I'm sorry I didn't think of this sooner. As soon as you're out of Helgen, on your way to Riverwood, you'll cross Embershard mine. Remember where it is, go to Riverwood, meet Sven and take his mean note to Camilla, but tell her the truth. She'll ask you talk to Faendal who will now follow you.(And give you free archery training up to l 50 :D) Take Faendal's key, go to his house and get
yourself some armor, shields, etc. Then go sneak-raid the mine.

There's one bandit outside, two in the "lobby" and then a few across the bridge, but nobody particularly hard to handle. In the cage, there is a weapon rack, which seems to always have a 2H weapon on it, as well as a treasure chest, spellbook, and some other helpful items.

If you aren't confident raiding mines yet, make your way to Whiterun, ask Adrienne if she works the forge all day, and she should ask you to deliver the jarl's sword to her father. It's a 2H steel
sword. She never said when it had to get to her father, so there's nothing wrong with testing it out. :D

The same thing with Vilkas's sword...;)

Joining the Companions not only get you free training for your warrior but a decent 2h weapon from Eorlund Gray-Mane. After doing a couple of quest for the Companions, Eorlund will craft a Skyforge weapon for you.

Especially deadly against elves. When I played a Nord Brute, I used that particular weapon to sack Northwatch Keep, a promise I made to Eorlund's family.

I cant believe none of you have recomended The Longhammer!

It has the fastest warhammer swing in the game (even quicker than most if not all greatswords) which means that after it is tempered its DPS surpasses a Daedric Warhammer! Not only that, but it is unenchanted which means you can enchant it yourself (thats a positive and a negative, depends what your going for).

The only real downside is that the dungeon in which you find it, is actually quite challanging.

You don't need a fancy shmancy weapon, what's wrong with a good old Iron Greatsword? I've taken down Draugr Wrights and Scouges with it, even a Death Overlord. :p
