I am creating a new character, and believe it or not, I have never been a vampire. Had the game since it came out on PS3(quit after awhile due to the fact I wanted mods but couldn't afford a proper computer back then), and now I have it on PC(A little over 2 years now). I've never been interested in them until now, and I was wondering what your opinion on what type of character I should build if I do a vampire lord character. If there is anything I should focus more on if I plan to predominantly focus on being a vampire lord at almost all times? Also, I plan on searching for a mod that make being a vampire better(More realistic, harder, better looking character model[possibly], things like that) are there any suggestions for that?

I don't play abominations, I destroy them. Having said that, I've heard that dark elves make the best VL's since their natural resistance to fire offsets the weakness of vampires.

That has been noted, will try not to cross you at any point, fear for my vampire's life.

Mods aren't my field of expertise, but in general each class can benefit from Vampirism;

Melee Classes have frost resistance, which helps them to fight Frost-enhanced enemies (Frost giants, Draugr) be they ranged (frost has slowing effect). Also Frost resistance means you lose less Stamina, which is important for power attacks.

Mage classes get new spells, and obviously VL form is designed with magic in mind. You can use wards to offset your fire weakness too.

Thiefs who become Vampires get a sneak bonus. You stealth means that it shouldent be too hard to feed, and if you choose to starve yourself you even get an Invisibility power.

Thanks for the info! I will take note of that stuff!

Dunmer VL is awesome...all the powers of the vamp without the weakness to fire...add fire resist armor and fear no fire.....it's quite fun actually. Vampiric Grip is my favorite vamp spell...makes me feel like Darth Vader....if only u could use some of the spells outside of VL form* sigh*

I recommend Mist Form and of course Vampiric Grip :D
.......................u just became my favorite person in the whole world....I just bought Skyrim again after trading it in for Destiny and wiped my measly 20GB hard drive to make room for it so I'm starting completely over from scratch again but as soon as I get the DLC from my friend my Dunmer will be seeing a lot of play lol thanks

Here's my take on vamps, there only one vampire mod I use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9717/? Doesn't break quests, etc.

I play vampires that cannot heal (except thru vampire drain) and cannot use potions. Truly the 'life' of the undead.

My vampires don't rush in to slay dragons (esp fire dragons), they don't wear heavy armor, or use powerful 2H weapons. No, that's for other play thru's with other character types....
They are always round-the-corner where you least expect them.

My vamps do this
  • Sneak, master it, best to feed and for silent kills (bow esp)
  • Illusion, truly incredible to see other kill them selves first, also provides excellent feeding opportunities
  • Raise dead, never conjure
  • Master enchant
  • Enchanted Daggers / Bow for silence
  • Silent moons enchant has wonderful fit
Its a mistake to assume vampire lord as a regular form, I like to build it up and use it when I am alone (almost always -else cant sneak) and outnumbered.

Generally a sneaky illusion character makes the most of a vampire's abilities. If going out during the day is bad for a vampire then a sneaky character can make the most of the darkness, and since you get a boost to illusion and it pairs so well with sneak types it would seem a waste to be a vampire who isn't sneaking around casting illusion spells.
