Game keeps crashing to desktop please HELP!

Alright, so my Skyrim crashes to the desktop right after the icon apears when the loading screen starts. I have about 140 mods, and have tried unactivating them all, besides the Update.esm. I don't have any dlc so that shouldnt be a problem. But the game still crashes even with just update.esm on. Is something worng with my files maybe, or my ini's? I haven't changed them recently. I seriously have no idea how to fix this. My drivers are up to date and my audio is set to below 48000hz.. anything else? any ideas? please help if you can, thanks in advance, also, I even deleted my saves and am starting a new game, still CTD's. Thanks

I've gotten the game running again, I was missing two files after verifying the integrity of the game through steam. However my SKSE is not running, or ENBoost, nor any of my other mods. Should I just try reactivating them all now? Thanks

I wish I knew about them, but I don't use either. I'm sorry. Maybe try them one at a time, but do a save first. If you run into trouble, I'd try to contact the guide authors, either ilja or Nazenn, on steam. They seem to know about all there is to know on these things.

ENBoost is just a series of .ini settings, so if the .ini changes have been made then ENBoost is "working". It isn't an actual mod.

As for SKSE, if you are not running it through MO, make sure you are using the launcher, and make sure you aren't removing the skse_loader.exe file from the skyrim folder if moving it to desktop, only making a copy of the shortcut.

Again, if you are not using MO, then just reinstall SKSE using the installer on the site, it should replace old files with the new ones.


Also, I know for a fact that there are many many mods that are DLC dependent, and the game may run into issues if you are not using DLC, especially DG and DB.
