So I wanted to make my cities a bit more beautiful. Researched city&town mods a bit, and decided I like JK's Skyrim best (going by screenshots). But after installing it just feels a bit...off. Like its just a bit over the top. I want cities to look like theres a bit more life, maybe a bit more plants and stuff, but still keep the somewhat barren feel of Skyrim. Plus Markath now looks like its some tropical city. And the performance hit, especially in open / non loading screen cities is massive. (Riverwood&Dragonsbridge at least) So I went over my files with SMCO, but the loss in quality is visible.

Now I'm not sure if I'll keep this, or restore my backup data folder & slightly better quality and live with vanilla cities, or continue my search. Thing is, Sexy Cities mods series looks ugly to me, and expanded towns (cant remember the excact title) seems to be only for villages.

So, dear Skyrimforums people, do you use any mods that change the cities? If so, which are your favourites? And what would you do in my place?

JK's city mods are indeed over the top, plus they add so much that only a beast PC can run them without falling to like 20 fps.
The Sexy series are downright ugly, I agree on that as well.

Have never used either series myself, bu have seen them in other peoples' games.

The only city mods I run are Trees in Cities, Beautiful Whiterun and Markarth - The White City. Negligible fps loss, and my cities look great. :D
If only I could use Realistic Aspen Trees to add variety to the aspens in Whiterun and Riften, it would be perfection.

Fills some of the empty spaces, but keeps the original feel of the cities - brilliant. Cheers mate!

this one agrees with Sir Mithro'l , the Mods make the city's look unreal...this one used a city mod that turned....every city into a carnival...then came a lag OMG.... it comes to personal preference....this one likes the vanilla city look so the mod would have to fit that description :)

One thing this one found is when installing city mods, there is now an abundance of ingredients & barrels with loot that would not be there in the first place:sadface:....some moders fill these barrels with things that can unbalance the game...example a barrel full of Iron ore or empty soul gems:confused:.....but its the ingredients that do it for this one...things you have to wait & travel to Raven Rock to get are now growing in Whiterun!
:p
