How do you backstab a Dragon?
So... I've been playing on my first Skyrim disc for over 6000 hours now and have been noticing that it has been getting glitchier and glitchier.

I am considering just buying a new copy of Skyrim Legendary and using that.

Thoughts?

My reasoning is that, it is a DVD and, in the past I have had plenty of DVDs (and CDs) simply stop working due to overuse.

Mainly I'm noticing that there are now appearing to be grooves in the shiny surface.

Shiney, let's be bad guys.
Do you already have the DLCs?

Either way I'd say go for it. Iv bought Skyrim 2 extra times due to my disc getting damaged. And I'll probably buy it again if I ever get a PC that can run it.

xbox user here . Had what I thought was a similar issue with my 1st disc since some "laser burn" marks were evident.

Replacement of the disc itself did little , if anything , as far as improving performance.

New characters always seem to run more smoothly (at lower levels at least) so my deduction is that as saved files increase in total content , glitches/freezes/corruption opportunities also increase

I do already have them, but it can't hurt to have them again, eh? I bought them long ago as digital anyhow. I can afford a depreciated hit of $20 from 2 years ago.

Thanks for your opinion. It matters!

I was thinking about doing a system restore on my PS3 (I usually do it about once a year), which seems to clean up a lot of junk that's sitting in there.

If you mean me, I'm up to 6,784 hours as of last night. That would technically be about 9 hours a day, every day for the last 2 years, but, some days I only play 8 hours. :)

Always clean up your saves. If you pile them up, the risk of glitches and bugs become bigger it seems and what I understood from others.

If you have tons of saves, then you'll want to delete some of them because that alone will mess up the entire game on all saves. Otherwise, it doesn't hurt to replace the disk either way. Perhaps Skyrim breaks after too many hours of gameplay! ;] Haha, but I doubt that's true.

6,000 hours is a LOT of time to put into the game. And I thought I played a lot with Oblivion with 500 hours, and a lot with Skyrim with 300 hours.

Not to get off topic with your origional question, but had you thought about upgrading to a PC version? Not only can you mod the game to your hearts content (and thus adding more to the game), but you don't have to worry about wear and tear on your physical copy of the game as its entirely digital.

I actually do have the PC version although I've never gotten around to the mods, etc... I'm just a console kind of guy I guess. I already spend far too much time on Skyrim in any case and I'm afraid the PC w/mods would make that worse.
I am actually thinking about taking another 6 month break shortly and going off to play other things. While I love my character, I'm getting bored. No, it isn't the difficulty level or anything like that. I'm just getting bored of it.
