Hi all! This is my first post and actually my first time role playing in skyrim. I've decided to be a very old vampire who unlike most has respect and compassion for humans and believes they should be treated as equals and helped not dominated. My question is who would this vampire worship because the obvious choice molag bal is out seeing as he's into rape and domination. So who then..other deadric princes..possibly even some of the nine divines? Eager to hear some thoughts. Thanks!

Namira? Hircine?

Bothia would be a good choice IMHO if Molag Bol is out, after all, they are enemies. Of course, Bothia is terribly manipulative.

Definately not Mephala though. There is absolutely no respect for people with Mephala.

Probably Namira then, since she does have some respect for people, she just advocates eating them.

Perhaps Kynareth or Akatosh. I would guess almost any of the divines would be fine, as long as it wasn't Stendarr or Arkay.

My vamp is a follower of Dibella and Mara (all about sex and love), not death and destruction.

Just my opinion.

Vampire? No Molag Bal? Okay, seems weird that a vampire would not worship the one who created his/her vampirism, unless he/she never wanted to be one, but whatever.

Actually its not that weird that a vamp wouldn't worship molag bal.. The very first vamp that was turned by him (can't recall her name) turned her back o on him.. Even had her followers desecrate his shrines, but thanks for the input. Dealon thanks for your insights namira could be interesting, respects them just wants to eat them lol. I was also thinking boethia but its hard to get around her manipulation.. Maybe Nocturnal or clavicus vile since he could offer the ability to blend with the humans and coexist... Lol oh the possibilities!

I just can't imagine a Vampire not worshiping the being that created them. Just going to say right now, Stendarr, Arkay, and Meridia are out entirely because they are anti-undead.

How "good" should the divine/prince be morally? For the divines I think of Mara first. Erandur was accepted by her after turning from Vaermina. Depending on what other stuff your character values, any of the divines could work really, with the exception of Arkay and Stendarr. For daedra it really depends on the rest of your character. Clavicus Vile would be a gamble since you never know how he goes about granting your wish. It could have some really good roleplay opportunities though. The "insanity" of a vampire befriending its prey could appeal to Sheogorath. Nocturnal could help hide the visible vampiric traits? I also like Hermaeous Mora. He could grant the knowledge needed for a vampire to blend in or find feeding alternatives.

Someone has poor imagination :)

I know, I just can't see an undead creature worshiping a deity who is inherently Anti-Undead. I also cannot see a vampire not worship Molag Bal, who is the progenitor of the vampirism that is inherent in all vampires.

Consider that for npc's, it is impossible to be cured of vampirism. So whether they want to be a vampire or not, they are stuck. For someone who doesn't want to be a vampire, it would make sense that they would turn to other deities to worship, particularly if they wish to redeem themselves.

My 2 cents: No vampire should never consider their food as equal. Respect means a nice cage. Remember, when you feed your drain their spirit to maintain yourself.

A very old vampire is one who has feed for years without being noticed and hunted. Thus the character profile of Silence, Mind Control and Raising the dead.

Silence and Mind Control I get, but, why Raising the Dead? I realize that that seems to be something that Beth seems to push in ES, but, personally, I rarely, if ever use it. Frankly, they're just not that powerful or useful. I'll stick with conjuration. :)

Speaking for me in general - this is how I play vamps - summing is about the plain of oblivion, etc... If your dead, it's only natural (my take of courser) that you are closed to those plains, so I can only raise the dead. It makes for a nice character weakness. Alone and no dead around and no companion? You can't get off the hook and summon --- unless you get a summon staff!!!!!! Having a staff that can summon (you know the quest) allows me to transcend that weakness.

As for zombie power, once you get enough perks up the necromancy tree, they do a great job. Don't get me started with the ritual stone (oh army come forth)

As for being respectful older vampire - which there could be many good reasons - it could work. After all, your are trying to save the world. But there have to be flaws, or limits due to your nature. Something to think about.

Actually just stopped being a vampire with my latest. Simply couldn't justify the RP given her personality. Far too messy and far to chummy. She's back to being simple little, anti-social, homicidal, philanthropic Ingin.

Thanks for all the replies guys didn't mean to disappear after asking for input. I like thoughts so far and realize its an odd character but I figured hey food for thought.. Anyway I keep going back to herma mora, clavicus vile, and nocturnal none of which really fall in line with respecting humans but I'm still thinking about some of the nine devines and hiw that could fit except arkay or stendarr for the obvious reasons. By the way Pete I lost a gulp of dew through my nose when I read respecting your prey is a nice cage! Funny as hell but you make a good point..this character is making me think too much lol.
