Necromatic Mastermind
I just wanted to say that using the Ritual Stone power when you have killed 12-15 of the dragr in the boss fight chamber of Dead Man's Respite is the most awesome thing ever.

The exact reason why the world of necromancy is bliss !

Was going to post this in the Hearthfire forum, but am going to post it here. The houses in HF are actually pretty freaking awesome when you finish them all up, better than most of the player homes on the nexus. I was using Elysium Estate for so long, but it really felt overpowered, not because it gave you anything, but in one room you ostensibly had all of the crafting tables and such you could need.

I like the Hearthfire houses. Sorry, I know they can be glitchy, but I still like them. At Lakeview, I now have 2 tame skeever in the basement.

You play on PC now, correct?
No. Too much trouble not enough time.

Boo! Just do it. You won't regret it. Get an HDMI cable and play it on your TV with a controller. BAM! Fresh Skyrim experience that acts like the console version.

On a side note (I am going to treat this like a General Discussion thread), I am getting tired of trying to help out in the Mods forum and having people just disappear! I actually enjoy helping people out, and do it all the time on the nexus forums, but here, people post and disappear forever!! Grrr

Well that's 'cause you help them so much that they never to talk to any of us again!

Time for some ale
I'm sure others have seen something like this happen, but it was a first for me.

I had just exited the Keep in Markarth, a gaggle of guards were ambulating up the stairs when suddenly one of them went airborne. In the standing position, he just sort of floated up. Way up. Didn't struggle; it was as if he were just standing there and had inadvertently activated his rocket boots. And then he fell to his death.

I of course went to see if he had any gold, arrows, or ale, (after I'd stopped laughing), and some of the guards were crouched around him going, "Oh, what happened?" What happened indeed!

I fast traveled to Kynesgrove during the main quest. People were running away because of the dragon at the nearby dragon mound. I have done this quest before but I noticed there was a random dead stormcloak soldier nearby. I went to take the gold from his inventory, and when I exited out two stormcloaks fell out of the sky and landed where the other one was. Random and hilarious.

Funny, I was just there and noticed after killing the dragon, two or three stormcloaks on the path that I don't recall seeing before. Are they always there, and I just didn't notice? Even more strange is they were naked, (except the loin cloth), but had armor in their inventory. Taking your armor off to fight a dragon is bold.. must be on some of that sleeping tree sap!

I decided to mix things up on my current playthrough after I murdered Grelod. I went to Lakeview Manor to go to bed, and deposited everything in my inventory in a chest, even my armor and gold. So when I was kidnapped by Astrid, I was in my skivvies. Luckily I had learned a lot of magic, so I wasn't defenseless. Unluckily, I hadn't leveled up my Magicka, but I'll get to that later. So I kill the three people and leave the shack, but I don't fast travel. Instead I wander into Morthal into Morside Inn. I go from room to room stealing gold, a blacksmith's apron, boots and a hat so I'm exposed to the elements. Then I hoof it to Solitude planning on hiring a carriage to Falkreath. I'm ambushed by a troll in the swamp, and since my Magicka is low, I'm unarmed, and I have no potions, I do the only thing I can do-flee. Luckily, it looks like trolls can't swim, since he didn't follow me, and I hired a carriage with my stolen gold.

On a side note, I always forget to do Narfi's mini-quest before joining the DB.

The Stormcloaks are always there; they're the same ones who act as Kynesgrove's guards. Presumably they run up to fight Alduin, who destroys them.
I always use a batch file that makes all guards essential (hate losing NPCs, even respawning ones), so those three Stormcloaks usually show up to help defeat Sahloknir. Like last night, for example. :D

I'm currently playing a heavy armour warrior who uses no potions OR poisons whatsoever (except Cure Disease ones). Currently level 30, with tons of difficulty mods, and I'm having an absolute blast. Having low stamina or health (not to mention both) is a death sentence, because my movement speed goes down as those two stats go down.
Not having to carry around dozens of potions/poisons also leaves plenty of room for other items, which is great because my character is a former merchant, so he loots everything worth taking. I also skin, harvest and sometimes butcher all the dead animals I come across/"produce" (mod), so I end up with tons of bones, ingredients and pelts. Not to mention I need to carry around food, water and other survival supplies.

tl;dr: Playing without potions/poisons (I do use Alchemy, but always sell everything I craft) is worth a try, if you've never done it. :)

Playing without potions or poisons does sound like a lot of fun. I absolutely hate having to carry a crapload of potions around.

Here's For Your Trouble
Ran into a nightlord vampire for the first time yesterday . I was at level 60 and not super powerful; started two handed recently so my sword only did 350 damage, wore armour for the aesthetic mostly so my armour was only 450, but I did have max magic resistance, 550 health and the elemental fury shout.

That vampire was killing me with two or three swings! She was running around much faster than most characters and getting animation kills on me most times. Insane... eventually I ran away until a couple of frost trolls attacked her, summoned a frost atronach to join in and then finished her off when her health was down and she was distracted

In any case, nightlord vampires have my respect. The damage it was dishing out was ridiculous

I really need to vent about what an awful awful daedra Meridia is. Most characters she throws her stupid beacon at me when they are really not interested in her quest, but I've created two characters for whom it was crucial it get Dawnbreaker who had Meridia hide the beacon from once they hit the right level! And these characters were made months apart. It's like she knows how badly they'll need that sword so she's making them trek to her temple twice because she knows she can. Meridia, has it occurred to you that the reason mortals let your temple fall to ruins is because you are complete jerk?

I was attacking the Haafingar Imperial camp when I passed her ruins, the sudden voice made me nearly s*** myself, Still, I got a birds eye view of the fort prior to the battle.

I had purposely avoided going near Whitewatch Tower until just now, and I've already helped the Stormcloaks take over Whiterun.

So what did I see at the tower?
First off, it was flying both the Whiterun AND the Stormcloak banners.
Secondly, there were three Whiterun guards AND three Stormcloaks there, fighting each other. Of course the usual bandit trio had spawned as well, so I took care of them while the Stormcloak guards defeated the Whiterun guards. :D

It was quite an interesting encounter, I have to say. I wonder whether it always happens if you only discover/go near the watchtower after taking over Whiterun...

I wish there was an emoticon that stood for, "Hmmm, interesting." Since there isn't, you get a :beermug:

Funny, I do that same thing, but mostly with any NPCs my character cares about that die. For example, her fellow Bosmer follower Faendal who died while guarding her homestead at Lakeview Manor. She gave him a water burial.
She'll also do this with any really tough enemies or people she dislikes. The tough ones she does this as a way to honor their skill and bravery in battle; the people she dislikes she does this because she feels they don't deserve a proper burial. Usually these are villains of some type. :) RPing is fun. lol
