Why did you change the health regen to zero? A lot of games do that already. To me it doesn't make sense. After I get injured in real life, I am not, forever more injured. I do recover eventually, albeit slowly. I don't need to quaff some potion or visit some healer.
It was one part of the Requiem mod that I really liked. Of course, Requiem added healing poultices which would heal you very slowly over time. It increases the difficulty without changing damage or health levels.

And realistically, if you get a large gash in your leg it is not just going to get better by itself. It is going to get infected and eventually turn to blood poisoning or gangrene.

I'm surprised you find them so uncommon. I end up with hundreds since I don't really use them, even on my non-magical characters. I just avoid being hit. :)
As did I. It wasn't until turning off regen that I realized how quickly all those little scrapes, that you forget about when you do regenerate, added up. When you are having to use a couple potions in a fight just to stay on your feet and then more afterward to return to full strength they go quick.

What is interesting is that I turned off regen for a mage I created (running the two characters simultaneously) and discovered I actually appreciate the restoration tree now. Potions aren't a problem with this character, but he has a legitimate use for a branch of magic that tended to be superfluous before.

Going back to unarmed, I was playing with a high level nord once and was behind a draugr. Didn't realise I had no weapons equipped. Went for a power attack, then I randomly did some weird suplex thing and killed it. I was utterly baffled.

Also, I found that mammoth in the ice on release day. It was a total suprise and amazed me. knew I'd love this game right there and then.

Why is the alto wine always gone?
i discovered that after thousands of hours(literaly thousands), reality has become a dull, nasty grey, pointless chore. when im not playing skyrim, i eat, bathroom shower and dream about skyrim. Currently I am writing a book to compile the elder scroll lore and history into a nice book. upon playing skyrim for first time, i discovered several awsome things. Mammoth in ice was awsome and a cool thing, the books you can read ingame, omg such detail in the books, i highly recomend taking a few mins from adventuring and reading some random books you find ingame. I don't have an addictive personality, and i don't get addicted to such things as drugs, booze, smoking, and ive done all the above, but this game has drawn me in since day 1, i got it pre launch, got all dlc's on the day they came out on xbox played several times through, sometimes as fast play through other times, to just take my time and do simple side quests, i have a character that literally lives in whhiterun, the first dragon battle scared him so much, all he can do is chop wood for money at the local tavern, only to buy booze to drown out the memry of the evil dragon.

The lord stone is an incredible buff if you go directly to it after Helgen. +50 armour and 25% magic resistance is massive early in the game.

I've been doing a tank build on legendary using a Breton with heavy armour, two handed and alteration and it's been a surprisingly powerful build! In fact it's probably the strongest early game character I've had- unsmithed iron armour with the lord stone and oakflesh is great protection, and 50% magic resistance makes a character who has no fear of mages and spriggans. Naturally I then had steel armour and stoneflesh with perks in heavy armour, smithing, two handed and alteration. Level 30 alteration for another 10% magic resistance and so on.

My guy is now level 30 and with the lord stone and ironflesh his armour (without a shield) is about 500, which is pretty crazy for that stage in the game. I haven't even had to bother finishing the Agent of Mara quest because 50, 60 then 70% magic resistance has been more than adequate so far. I'll probably get on with that soon before I head to Solstheim

Forget the guardian stones, hit up the lord stone.

Mine is rather embarassing....I played for quite a long time before I knew there was a sprint option. And found it by accident.
Don't feel too bad. I played it for 18 months and then found the sprint option AND that you could fast travel.

Couple of minor things today.

You can jump up to the summit of Volskygge where you fight Volsung(?) without going through the Volskygge ruins. I would have though the game developers would make stuff like that harder since it's obviously something you aren't meant to do, but it wasn't even particularly difficult- I'd just never tried it before

Hag Rock Redoubt (???) the place where you fight a hagraven for the pommel of Mehrun's Razor and get one of the Stones of Barenziah... you can jump up there too without going through any of the Forsworn dungeons beneath it. That one is a bit harder but I swear Bethesda deliberately made that short cut possible given how conveniently placed the rubble/roofs you jump up are

Disarm with all three words is a great shout for tackling tough enemies!

After nearly 2 years of owning Dawnguard I had a character discover Zephyr for the first time. Too bad he isn't an archer. . .

To top it all off, that same character discovered and used the Aetherium forge (also a first for myself). Too bad he shuns magical items. . .

Ultimately, I think I've discovered that it might be time to create a new character who isn't so stuffy about such things.

I handed Gregor, the housecarl of The Pale, a whole bunch of crap I can't get rid of for roleplay reasons today. One piece of crap was the Fine Hat, the one with a fluffy brim and silly tassel hanging across the face. And I discovered he looks surprisingly adorkable wearing that hat. I'm not giving him a helmet ever. In fact, I think I'm going to marry him.

Get to High Hrothgar faster!

Head slightly north and then north east of Orphan Rock on a horse and head up the snowy slope. It brings you onto the trail slightly past the point where that frost troll drops off a ledge to attack you, which I think is probably just past halfway or maybe even further. I'll definitely do that route in the future, I hate going all the way to Ivarstead and then doing the 7000 steps.

Anyway, I think the big discovery for me was how easy it is to navigate steep inclines on a horse.

In the future if I want to do High Hrothgar early but don't want to pay 1000 septims for a horse I'll either steal one from the Stormcloak camp nearby or maybe that hunter who is always walking past Haemar's Shame on a horse

I finally realized that the voice of the male human characters issss....

Faendal. Yup. Your character sounds like Faendal if your character could talk.

I took Faendal with me to Bleak Falls Barrow and I listened closely to his grunts and voice. Then I was like:

"Faendal, you are Dragonborn."

The male elves (all) Sounds like Ondolemar from Markarth, Female elves sound like Taarie, Female humans sound like Ria, and the others well... Obvious what they sound like.

i never realized how much i needed the candlelight spell tbh until i realized how dark some of the dungeons were and how much i was burning through torches..
plus even with characters who've never improved their magicka it's a really cheap spell to cast and lasts a while!
