T. Rakinson

A Brute among Beasts
I like Erandur. He has an in-depth history, and is one of those followers that comments on the environments. True, you do have to pass on a Daedric Artifact to keep him, and he uses Melee alongside spells, but definately one of my Favourites. DB assasins are good too, if only because of their disposability.

Someone else to consider, is Brother Verulus. I actually didn't know until reading about him just now that he's considered an essential quest item that cannot be killed while following you to Reachcliff Cave. Just don't go there, and he'll follow and fight for you, and can be commanded to pick up and equip armor and weapons. All this even if you already have a follower. I've obviously not done this, but perhaps someone else could comment on weather or not he's any good.

Dabiene Caristiana

Your friendly neighborhood weirdo
Taken from skyrim.uesp page:

"He wears a set of hooded monk robes along with a pair of boots. He carries the key to the Hall of the Dead along with a selection of common loot and gold. In combat, he relies on an iron dagger or a staff of frostbite. Being a priest he knows a decent set of spells. From the school of Alteration, he knows Oakflesh and Stoneflesh. From the school of Destruction, he knows Lightning Bolt and Sparks. From the school of Restoration, he knows Healing, Grand Healing, Lesser Ward, Turn Undead, Fast Healing, and Turn Lesser Undead."

Notes:

"While on the quest The Taste of Death, and having asked him to accompany you to Reachcliff Cave, Brother Verulus will follow you everywhere until he is brought to Eola. Thus, he may be used as a powerful follower in addition to any follower you may already have if you postpone returning to Reachcliff Cave."

Looks like you were right, Harkin :p I should try it out sometime.

Ah, I forgot about him! Take him, Serana, Esbern, an animal companion and another companion of your choice you got a pretty powerful party. They tend to block corridors a lot, though.

Onmund is hot, but he's not an ideal choice for a follower, mainly because he becomes overpowered and kills everything in sight before I get a chance to do any fighting.
Talvas on Solstheim is pretty much the same.

Valdimar is pretty good if you don't mind having a spell sword at your side. He gets a bit trigger happy with the ice spike spell, but he does switch to banish undead spells if you go up against draugr.

Harkin

Necromatic Mastermind
Hahaha, I can think off the top of my head how to get a party of 20 no mods/PC, and thats b4 I give them stuff. XD

If you can get past the robe wearing, then I highly recommend Valdimar. He is the housecarl (Sorcerer Class) you get from Morthal. He has a wicked Ice Spike spell (which can actually predict a dragon's trajectory and NEVER misses) He will also use any scrolls you give him and levels up magicka. He uses Turn Undead on Draugr and undead enemies. He uses Close Wounds and Healing on himself. He is quite pleasant to be around and is my favourite follower. He wont wear robes though.

I've always used Serana, as she can't be killed :D

How do you backstab a Dragon?
I think I'm going to go for Onmund. While I like Erandur, he's OLD! Onmund is young and pliable, although I worry, that, because I did his quests at about level 20 that he won't be leveled up for me (I've never taken him as a follower). I have an awesome set of armor he can use that will keep him in the game. Plus he's cute and will make a good spouse and vampire companion.

I love Serana and am going to use her as much as possible, but my Ingin needs some passion and a fellow Nord mage would be ideal.

Question though: Does he use staves well? I have the Sanguine Rose and a number of high level staves (incinerate, thunderbolt and all three wall spell staves).
