How do you backstab a Dragon?
So... My Ulv Tordenfodt, a Nord 2 handed, heavy armor warrior is looking to plan his future fashion choices.

In your opinion, without looking like the Black Night (ebony), a possessed demon (Daedric), a pretentious fop (Dragon Bone), an Orc (Orcish - obviously) or an Oscar Award (Dwarvish); which would you choose: Steel, Wolf or Nordic Carved? Steel looks great, but is kind of generic; Wolf doesn't weigh as much, but it's really a hairy situation to get it; and Nordic Carved can sometimes look un"bear"able.

I would go Ancient Nord/Hero, but it's a touch revealing and Ulv is a shy guy.

Thoughts?

Ah! Forgot about Steel Plate. Only looks good on chicks. I mean, it's got the best breast plate of all of them. It makes a guys chest look really strange and let's not even mention the loincloth effect!

I don't know if it would count as the "Black Knight", but how about Nordic Gauntlets and boots with Ebony armor and a Penitus Oculatus helm? I remember that looked good as well as having good stats.

....plus the PO helmet is easy to upgrade and allows you to have two enchantments. ;)

Well, technically you can exceed the cap on console. You just need the relevant smithing perks, high Fortify Smithing enchantments on hands, body, and necklace, and drink a high Fortify Smithing potion before you improve what you've got. You can improve it beyond normal Legendary and break the cap. (At which point it's still all 80% reduction, anyway.)

Personally, I'd go with Carved Nord. It's novel, compared to Steel, which any old mercenary and bandit can wear (and you see a lot of orcs in it, too). At least when they wear Carved Nord armor, you know it was made by Nords for Nords.

And the Wolf armor is more than just inconvenient to acquire. The Wolf armor specifically says "I am a member of the Companions' inner circle". It's a set designed just for them. Choosing Wolf armor to be the quintessential "Nord Armor" would be like picking the guard armor from any hold and calling it (colors and all) the universal "Nord Look". It has very specific meaning.

Fair enough observation, I still like the look of the stuff personally. If I were to choose between those though, I'd say to do a mash up: Steel plate boots and gauntlets, Nordic Carved armor and the heavy dawnguard helmet.

That might actually work great! although I would amend it slightly. I would make it the Ebony Mail. I know it's poisonous, but it just looks so dern cool!

I just thought of something! What about Dawnguard Heavy or Blades armor? They're viable as well and I particularly like the Dawnguard Heavy on a Nord.

You can also do a nice looking armor mesh consisting of Shouldered Steel armor, Imperial bracers, steel plate boots and heavy Dawnguard helm. :)

I went with the Stalhrim Heavy set on my Nord. It's essentially a dragonplate equivalent with only the ebony smithing perk required to tamper it! Plus, the lore behind the armor is fascinating, and pretty suitable for a Nord in my opinion. You also get the added bonus of a +25% magnitude to any frost enchantments applied to this brand of equipment. So, if you have DB, I highly recommend this armor.

You need to complete a quest before you're able to smith it, though. Definitely worth it if you ask me.

But that would mean going all the way to Solstheim and exacerbating my Asthma!

Thank you. I missed that one. It's a little shiny for my taste though.

True, I am of the opinion that this armor set is reserved only for the most stylish of Nords...
