I wanted to make a conjurer build that didnt really rely on any other magic.
i was wondering whats the closest "class" name to a build like this?should i add any more magic?
Conjuration/one handed/Alchemy/speech/sneak/light armor
i do want a challenge and plan on playing on expert or master.
tips for RP a build like this is appreciated

If you use Conjuration for zombies, it's called Necromancy. If you summon atronachs, I believe they (Bethesda) are calling it Atromancy. (I won't get into why the use of "-mancy" in this context is wrong, but it's what they're using.)

I think a Single Magicka School build is totally doable. It might require being more cautious, and picking your battles rather than storming all of Skyrim with your mighty power, but still doable.

The first thing that comes to mind for RP is the kind of character that either only excelled at the atromancy magics, or was maybe more of aa home-taught mage, with the secrets of alchemy and summoning passed down to them, rather than learned from any specific institution.

Hope you enjoy playing this build!

Absolutely agree with Cordelia. I might add Illusion though, if only because of courage and rally. They work on raised as well.

So... Are you going Necro or Antro? If Necro - go vamp (great bonuses), if Antro - go Dawnguard.

Mechanically a conjuration build is totally doable, but how you're going to go about it makes a difference in how you play. I'd suggest going with atronach's over raised corpses as you don't need a dead body to bring them about, and bound weapons for your damage output. Don't necessarily need to train or perk the relevant weapon skill as it'll raise naturally and the bound weapons are fairly potent. I might also suggest picking up sneak to keep the enemies attention off of you and on your summons, and give that bound bow some extra oomph.

If you don't feel too strongly about dabbling exclusively in a single magic school, I'd recommend adding Illusion or Alteration into the fray. Both are beneficial for this sort of build; Illusion for crowd control, the Quiet Casting perk, augmenting your Sneak skill with Muffle and/or Invisibility, and buffing any followers you may have; Alteration for added defense using Flesh spells, the incredibly fun-to-use Paralyze spell, and various utility spells such as Waterbreathing or Transmute Mineral Ore.

wasnt planning on going necromancy route. but was going to use most summons from the game and dlc.
was going to play him somewhat of a "bounty hunter" so the closest guild i could think of would be assassin guild.
dont want to use a bow so maybe illusion for the other magic slot.

If you're looking at a bounty hunter sort, you could hook up with the companions: "We show up to solve problems if the coin is good enough" and ANY mage will benefit from an association with the college. If you're looking at another magic spot, I will almost always recommend illusion, though it does take quite an investment so be careful trying to balance it with conjuration.

true.i thought about joining the companions until i read about the circle which would go against my possible Volkihar rp with this character.i might change it up to the companions though. im kind of new to all this whole RP thing. usually i would just run through the elder scrolls games as a hammer swinging nord

with the perks ive posted is there a "class" name for something like this or close to it?

Well, you don't necessarily have to join the circle, you can keep receiving work from the companion's leaders so long as you don't talk to Skjor. Use them just for the jobs and the pay. If you're looking to go Vamp Lord, you still can, just remember that's something you hide from folks. Hell, the companions could become your personal human cattle when you need to feed even!!

You can do both ya know. I often do the Companions early on as it's pretty easy and then go Volkahir. Plus I can always switch back if I want once I've done the Companions. On one build I changed 1/2 a dozen times from one monster to another. I always RP the Companions as no magic whatsoever so it's a great opportunity to build my hard skills and concentrate on magic later.

Also, if you want to conjure Bonemen or Wrathmen, keep in mind that they use the necromancy perks of the Conjuration tree since they're technically classified as undead.

thanks i was planning on using them lol.so looks like ill be using both
i was going to use
flame atronach/storm/dremora lord/mistman/boneman/ash guardian/seeker
thanks for all the replies from everyone so far.

The bound weapons idea is very interesting and I've never really used them. Going with a conjurer you don't have to stick with any particular play style unless its a pure mage. They will need more than just conjuration to be fun i think. But any type of warrior or thief based character works very well with a conjurer. And sticking with bound weapons would really help with leveling conjuration. As a warrior type you could still use smithing for armor building. Alchemy for healing, protection and magic replenishing potions. Enchanting works too for armor and jewelery. Use armor perks and blocking. Lots of choices. Let us know how you decided to go.

This is why i love this game and forum. So many possibilities!

I imagine a conjuror savant, who would summon flame-atronachs as a wailing infant, and was thus heavily medicated throughout his or her youth. This youth was dull, quiet, struggled to follow rational lines of thought, and was generally expected to amount to nothing. The child had no knowledge that it was being medicated by the alchemist mother that fed it, nor any knowledge of the innate powers lurking within. The child's true nature remained completely hidden from all including itself, until one day...

I like the conjuror savant idea. One day, as he/she is being attacked, they learn that they can conjure a flame atronach naturally. Maybe they start off as a warrior that gets cornered, and when cornered, with no way out of the mess, they conjure the atronach in their defense.

well if your going to have sneak in that build i highly recomend doing a bit into the illusion perk tree, because of quiet while casting, means you can sneak up on a group of enemies, get there numbers and location, then slink back into shadows to conjure up a nice flame thrall or maybe a zombie, let them run into battle and take one or two out, then when it dies, conjure another, or even better if an enemy dies, summon his corpse to kill his friends, give them a good ol scare. though if you are using sneak, i highly recomend learning the bound dagger, and invest into one handed enough to get the x30 sneak attack with dags, it'll work with bound daggers as well as normal ones, same for archery, again you get a bound bow, so using sneak and conjuration is a deadly combo. Though i got an awsome name for this build, it's been used but Shadow Warrior. fits very well because you never actualy carry a blade or bow on you, everything you dish out comes from you mind, making you able to blend in with the everyday villager, also in solitude you can common clothes, and enchant them so you blend in even more, awsome for roleplaying, you could be the best assisin ingame, and not every carry a metal blade.
