Would a Skyrim Community member help me install a buttload of mods in Skyrim?

I think with the amount of mods I'm trying to get working on my Skyrim, I may need someone else who's experience with running a buttload of mods in tandem, and by buttload I mean 150+.

The issues at the moment, are CTD's between Riverwood and the Guardian Stones (this has often became an issue after installing lots of mods) but right now the big problem would be that my night skies, even with darkest settings on Climates of Tamriel and Realistic Nights mods installed, is not making my nights any darker and it's super immersion breaking when I can see at night just as easily as I can see in the day-time.

If someone could contact me on skype who has experience in getting lots of mods to work, I was thinking we could get our two heads working together so I can get this thing working.

I can explain all I've done so far to get Skyrim to work with multiple mods, but if anyone has experience in running Wrye Bash or Mod Organizer, I'd love to get some input from them.

BTW PC HARDWARE IS NOT AN ISSUE. I have 2 GTX 970's in an SLI setup, an i7 4790k CPU (basically the best quadcore on the market) 16gb of 2400mhz Ram, a 2 TB Harddrive, and an 850w EVGA powersupply, all hooked up to a Samsung 28" 4k monitor. So hardware is not the problem here as I got a top 2% PC or so. I just need help getting all the mods to run stably and correctly, 2 heads would really help on this problem.

Any volunteers? Skype name is superjew113, James Stewart, and my AIM name is SuperJew113. See if someone could help me and maybe make a new Skyrim friend.

I know there are some folks here who can help you, though it's above my head, but if you don't have any luck then try steam forums. There are quite a few people there, who can almost build your load order from memory, but there are a couple of really good guides on how to install and use LOOT, TES5edit, and stuff like that, to get your load order sorted out perfectly.

I'm still not getting the darker nights which I want really bad. I'm clueless at this point, the darker night mods are installed but they're not registerring with the game for some reason. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to remove the darker nights mod and reinstall CoT using only default settings, then download the CoT Weather Patch (seperate mod) and choose a night darkness level. CoT and the other night mod are probably conflicting. When using CoT you cant use any other mod that alters outdoor lighting or weather.

was testing my Skyrim out in the road between riverwood and the guardian stones area because if I'm going to get a CTD that's the place it's most definitely going to had. It CTD'd sure enough, even on a new character who had just left Helgen.

I tried starting a brand new character. As he rode the wagon and was just about to get off the wagon, I had a CTD, so I can't even start new characters with my Skyrim in it's current form. I completely uninstalled every mod through NMM and am redownloading Skyrim for a fresh install right now as we speak.

I have around 170 mods installed, I suspect some are conflicting, some I knew might conflict but it was the only way to get the desired result in my game (such as darker nights, CoT's darker nights wasn't working so I installed Realistic Nights and then I had the dark nights I strongly desired).

If someone could help me narrow it down, I'd be real appreciative and what I can do to get some stability. BTW, I had SKSE and ENBoost running and atm it did not fix the problem. I use LOOT to set up my load order and it helps tons and has made the difference between a game that is playable and unplayable, but right now I may have modded my Skyrim to the point that it's now broken.

Ok after typing out every single mod in 2 folders that I own, I found a couple duplicates but one thing I think that is going to help a lot is to organize all my skyrim mods into ONE folder. My organization is crap. This is why you see lists in alphabetical order 2-3x after going through my list of mods.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Dude! With all those mods installed, are you even playing Skyrim anymore? It seems so much more epic after looking up the affects!

With all the expansion mods I've been seeing, I think it's time to boot up that new TByte system I bought for the purpose with all the slammin' graphics and sound cards and get to work.

Query: Where is the best place to pick up mods? I've got quite a list going as suggested by all you fellow forumers.

Thanks!

When in doubt, follow the fox.
Your CTD between Riverwood and the stones is likely just due to a bad mod (corrupted, or dirty). Otherwise the typical CTD comes right away, before you can hit "continue". I think that you're bound to have issues with that many mods no matter how good you are with mods. Mods are made by amateurs. Many of them don't go through rigorous design and test phases. Additionally, the more you load, the harder it becomes to find the culprit mod. You would need to disable all your mods, one or a few at a time, until the issue no longer exists. Then test the mod you just disabled by enabling it again, to see if you've pinpointed the bad mod. Tough job. I know with my 30 or so mods, all stable, I still sometimes have to troubleshoot for up to an hour before I can login and play. Sort of defeats the purpose, don't you think?

Daelon, get your mods from nexusmods.com. Install Steam. Install the Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) and the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) and LOOT. Then we'll talk!

Cool! Thank you. I will do so over the weekend, after, of course, I clean the inch and a half of dust off the poor thing. :)

Big NO for Nexus Modmanager. Mod Organizer is far more better. It wont break game totally when removing mods. It uses virtual system, no files go to game directory or write over other files in physigally.

Loot is not best, it wont regonize all mods. Same go with BOSS.

Then we may need Wrye Bash or something like that to make bashed batch and Levelled item lists

I just need someone to help me get through this process without spending the next month modding, I'd like to get back to gaming.

Currently the problem is (I did a fresh install and took NMM off as my go to for installing mods and am trying to use Wrye Bash as well as MO), is that when I install Climates of Tamriel and it's Weatherpatch (as well as Dragonborn) the Nights DO NOT GET ANY DARKER. I made a clean modless save from a fresh install right outside the cave from Helgen so I can test out the nights, plus that whole Falkreath area, particularly between Riverwood and the Guardian Stones are excellent places to test for CTD's.

Right now I just have a couple of CoT mods, ELFX and Moonpath to Elseweyr installed and it's just not doing anything about the nights. I'll be honest though I think Realistic Nights might do a better job of making the nights darker as CoT has made torches and the alteration lighting spells rather useless by making them darker as well.

I do not know how to deal with this the only mod that seems to get me darker nights, which are much more immersive too btw, is Realistic Nights. I was afraid of a Mod Conflict but it's the only way I can easily get the desired results it seems.

Anyways, if any of you have Skype, I left my name and screen name, would anyone help me get through this so the learning curve isn't quite so steep? I really want to get back to gaming, not messing around with software.

Well, first of all, you can definitely have a stable mod setup with that many mods, I currently have around 220-230 depending on the MO profile.

I also noticed a lot of old, unsupported ESPs. You REALLY have to read a lot about the mods you are using and conflicts that can arise. A conflict with a mod and Falskar, for example, can cause a game to CTD even in Tamriel.

Are you making sure you are installing ONLY THE DEFAULTS when installing CoT and then adding on the darker nights (use option 3) and other mod support only when installing the CoT Weather Patch (which will be a separate mod, on a separate page)? Because installing overlapping ESPs is a common cause of in-game CTDs. The areas where you are talking about, and the times you are describing them occurring, are consistent with conflicting weather ESPs.

It is also a good idea (and really easy to do with MO) to not use script-heavy mods (or any at all, other than Race Menu mods) until you leave the cave after the Unbound quest.

Also, are you running LooT as an exe only through MO? Are you making sure you are only launching the game through SKSE within MO?

If you are using wrye bash and MO, are you installing mods using both? If so, you are doing it wrong. Wrye Bash is only to be in concert with MO to make bashed patches.

I seriously recommend you take a look at the STEP guides for MO and such, because from what I am reading there could be a million things you could be doing wrong and you seem to be ignoring some of my points and repeating some of your mistakes.

I've been modding for years and years so I would gladly help. I recommend a fresh start (which should be REALLY easy if you have used MO correctly) and try to read up on MO and Wrye Bash.

And good lord ignore the point about LooT. Boss hasn't updated it's masterlist in forever and will ruin your game. DO.NOT.USE.BOSS. Use LooT. As someone who tests and works with many authors of many extremely popular mods. LooT is the way to go. BOSS is useless now.

EDIT: Just ran BOSS on my MO profile with 249 mods, and it didn't recognize 29 of them. LooT Recognized them all.

I use LooT, Boss, Advices from mod makers and Try and error method to get right order. I never trust a program.

I just try, I made new profile in MO and put LooT organize mods. It results sevral CTDs after that. I played to level 166 two CTD. From 166,5 to 167 (4 hours) with loot order and 20 CTDs.

Basically just read the readme's for each mod, know what's compatible and what isn't, and make sure to change your .ini's if required (graphics enhancing mods).

Careful: Disaster upon disaster. You'll find out after spending hours getting to level 15 and a key quest breaks.

I run about 25. Combat mods break things. Basic item, texture mods don't. Vampire mods work best alone.

1/3 of my mods fix bugs, the others are appearance mods, map mods and a single vampire mod.
