The Golden Age of Piracy has come to Tamriel. Earn your ship fame, and your crew fortune as you Navigate the High Seas, and sail under the Black Flag.
It is 4E 414. Black Powder has been invented in Tamriel, and the Navies and the Armies of the Empire and the Dominion had their ships and soldiers equipped with cannons and muskets, as well as swords. For the past ten years, the Empire and Dominion had been raging war, and due to the invention of Black Powder, casualties had been high. Both countries took to a new form of Naval Warfare, hiring Privateers to supplement their Navies and raid enemy supply convoys. With the sudden end of the war due to a bunch of treaties signed, the Privateers where out of a job. Returning back to their home countries to be payed, they found out that both the Empire and the Dominion had nullified their contracts, and were not going to pay them. Upset, some Privateers began turning to Piracy, raiding both Imperial and Dominion naval convoys from the icy waters of the Sea of Ghosts all the way to the tropical Abecean Sea. Some pirates crews began to form alliances with each other, some sailed alone with only their crew. The most famous alliance was the Pirate Republic, which operated out of an Island, named Trinabad, which was located to the west of Tamriel. The location of this Island was unknown to all but the members of the Republic. They worked together and protected each other. It wasn't only Privateers who took to the Pirate Life. Many men and women of all species and races took up the life, as it offered freedom, and while the freedom came at the cost of being an outlaw, it was well worth it. The Pirate's Life was the life to live.

This is the first RP that I will be setting up. It is, in a way, similar to how the Kingdom RP's are run. Each person basically controls their Playable character, who would be the Captain of his or her ship, but they also get to control their own ship and crew (You don't need to make a Bio for every single member of your crew). It will be interesting to see what choices people make. If they want to be the Kind or Ruthless pirate, how they treat their crew, if they want to sail solo, or make an alliance. So, to be accepted, just post up a short character Bio of your captain, explaining maybe who he is, and how he treats his crew and such, and then in that bio, also add your ship and crew Bio. It is a little hard to explain, so I will go ahead and post up my bio first, as an example. I am expecting this to be a RP for mature people, as the Pirate life could be a violent one at times, which means gore. There will also, most likely, be drinking and drug use, as well as a possibility for sexual things. So, without further Adieu, recruiting for A Pirates Life is now open!

Ship Classifications:
Gunboat/Cutter: A small ship, with only eight cannons. The fastest of the ships, it is also the most vulnerable to damage, as it is barley able to take a few hits without sinking. But who is going to hit you when you are running circles around the enemy...
(Cutter/Gunboat)
Schooner: A schooner is a medium to small ship, ranging in size from 24 ft to 150 ft. While they may only have one gun deck, they are lower to the water, reducing their profile. It is easier to sneak up and attack people with Brigs, and it is harder to hit them due to their low profile as well. Because they don't have many guns, they can also carry more cargo than the brigantine, making them a favorite of merchants. Can have light armoring. Carries anywhere from 8-14 cannons.
(Schooner)
Brigantine: A Medium tier ship, it is a easy to manage ship, easily manageable, and requires a small crew for a ship of its size. Ranges from 60 ft to 156 ft. Can have two decks of gun, one gun deck, and then guns on the top deck. Can have anywhere from 14-20 cannons.
Brig: Considered a marvel of design, the brig was the perfect balance between speed, maneuverability, and firepower. Easy to handle, hold, and maintain, the brig was a rare, special ship. It could be anywhere from 60 ft to 180 ft long, and could hold up to 44 cannons total. Could have 3 to 4 decks, and could be equipped with heavy armoring.
(The Jackdaw, a small Brig at 60 ft long.)
Frigate: Frigates sacrificed speed for firepower. Going for a longer, lower to the water look, frigates were less maneuverable and Slower than the brig, but could carry more cannons. A frigate could have up to 5 decks, and anywhere from 32 to 60 cannons in total. They were good all around ships. Frigates ranged from 120 ft to 240 ft. Could use heavy armor.
Men-of-War: A Man-of-War was a floating fortress of a ship. It dwarfed all other ship classes, and were extremely durable and powerful. While almost all of them were not fast, they had incredible amounts of firepower. One of the largest had a little over 200 cannons... in one broadside. Men-of-War also have the strongest armor of any ship. They are very slow, however. But, hey, you have incredible firepower, and armor. Any sane sailor's darkest nightmare is of a pirate controlled Man-of-War. But luckily that will never happen... right?
