im sure this stuff has been discussed but wasnt able to find it.
i was wondering are any of the elder scrolls races based off real life ones? i know its a fantasy game but some of them seem to be based off real life cultures.
alsomight be a dumb question but i was wondering being German/russian/polish/Irish/Austrian
which elder scrolls races are closest to any of those?

Aren't German, Russian, Polish and Austrian pretty much the same anyhow? Okay, maybe not Polish, they tend to be the subjagees, rather than the subjagators.

Perhaps we should broaden the base here?

To me: Redguards are obviously middle eastern/northern african; Khajit are obviously middle eastern/far eastern (probably India); Altmer - Germanic/possibly far eastern (japanese, chinese); Breton's - Celtic/Pictish/Druidic; Nords - Scandanavian; Orcs - Russian, particularly Siberian plains, possibly Ural Mountains peoples as well; etc...

I don't really think the races in skyrim are based of particular races of modern men, just influenced by them. The politics, on the other hand....

There's a really good thread about this that was running about a year ago.

If I find it I'll post the link for you.

Those guys KNOW their lore, let me tell you.
