The Golden Age of Piracy has come to Tamriel. Earn your ship fame, and your crew fortune as you Navigate the High Seas, and sail under the Black Flag.

It is 4E 414. Black Powder has been invented in Tamriel, and the Navies and the Armies of the Empire and the Dominion had their ships and soldiers equipped with cannons and muskets, as well as swords. For the past ten years, the Empire and Dominion had been raging war, and due to the invention of Black Powder, casualties had been high. Both countries took to a new form of Naval Warfare, hiring Privateers to supplement their Navies and raid enemy supply convoys. With the sudden end of the war due to a bunch of treaties signed, the Privateers where out of a job. Returning back to their home countries to be payed, they found out that both the Empire and the Dominion had nullified their contracts, and were not going to pay them. Upset, some Privateers began turning to Piracy, raiding both Imperial and Dominion naval convoys from the icy waters of the Sea of Ghosts all the way to the tropical Abecean Sea. Some pirates crews began to form alliances with each other, some sailed alone with only their crew. The most famous alliance was the Pirate Republic, which operated out of an Island, named Trinabad, which was located to the west of Tamriel. The location of this Island was unknown to all but the members of the Republic. They worked together and protected each other. It wasn't only Privateers who took to the Pirate Life. Many men and women of all species and races took up the life, as it offered freedom, and while the freedom came at the cost of being an outlaw, it was well worth it. The Pirate's Life was the life to live.

    *Currently Recruiting*

This is the first RP that I will be setting up. It is, in a way, similar to how the Kingdom RP's are run. Each person basically controls their Playable character, who would be the Captain of his or her ship, but they also get to control their own ship and crew (You don't need to make a Bio for every single member of your crew). It will be interesting to see what choices people make. If they want to be the Kind or Ruthless pirate, how they treat their crew, if they want to sail solo, or make an alliance. So, to be accepted, just post up a short character Bio of your captain, explaining maybe who he is, and how he treats his crew and such, and then in that bio, also add your ship and crew Bio. It is a little hard to explain, so I will go ahead and post up my bio first, as an example. I am expecting this to be a RP for mature people, as the Pirate life could be a violent one at times, which means gore. There will also, most likely, be drinking and drug use, as well as a possibility for sexual things. So, without further Adieu, recruiting for A Pirates Life is now open!

    Ship Classifications:

Gunboat/Cutter: A small ship, with only eight cannons. The fastest of the ships, it is also the most vulnerable to damage, as it is barley able to take a few hits without sinking. But who is going to hit you when you are running circles around the enemy...

    pilot%20cutter%20race%20see%20derek%20holman_3.jpg

    (Cutter/Gunboat)

Schooner: A schooner is a medium to small ship, ranging in size from 24 ft to 150 ft. While they may only have one gun deck, they are lower to the water, reducing their profile. It is easier to sneak up and attack people with Brigs, and it is harder to hit them due to their low profile as well. Because they don't have many guns, they can also carry more cargo than the brigantine, making them a favorite of merchants. Can have light armoring. Carries anywhere from 8-14 cannons.
    OAYAmistadOPA.jpg

    (Schooner)

Brigantine: A Medium tier ship, it is a easy to manage ship, easily manageable, and requires a small crew for a ship of its size. Ranges from 60 ft to 156 ft. Can have two decks of gun, one gun deck, and then guns on the top deck. Can have anywhere from 14-20 cannons.

    brigantine.jpg

Brig: Considered a marvel of design, the brig was the perfect balance between speed, maneuverability, and firepower. Easy to handle, hold, and maintain, the brig was a rare, special ship. It could be anywhere from 60 ft to 180 ft long, and could hold up to 44 cannons total. Could have 3 to 4 decks, and could be equipped with heavy armoring.
    AC4_Jackdaw.png

(The Jackdaw, a small Brig at 60 ft long.)

Frigate: Frigates sacrificed speed for firepower. Going for a longer, lower to the water look, frigates were less maneuverable and Slower than the brig, but could carry more cannons. A frigate could have up to 5 decks, and anywhere from 32 to 60 cannons in total. They were good all around ships. Frigates ranged from 120 ft to 240 ft. Could use heavy armor.
    frigate.jpg

Men-of-War: A Man-of-War was a floating fortress of a ship. It dwarfed all other ship classes, and were extremely durable and powerful. While almost all of them were not fast, they had incredible amounts of firepower. One of the largest had a little over 200 cannons... in one broadside. Men-of-War also have the strongest armor of any ship. They are very slow, however. But, hey, you have incredible firepower, and armor. Any sane sailor's darkest nightmare is of a pirate controlled Man-of-War. But luckily that will never happen... right?

    Scars: He has a few

Face: Strong, Nordic structure, with hints of Imperial here and there.

Unique Features: He's was also unusually dark for a Nord, but this could be due to the fact that he was half Imperial as well. He has a burn mark on his left hand. His Extremely light blue eyes.

Tattoos: None, though he plans to get some at some point.

Personality: Marek is a very laid back man. He likes to drink, and have fun. He is shy around women he thinks are attractive, but other than that, he is a very talkative person. Likes to make jokes, and can be sarcastic, too.

Attitude towards Crew: Marek is very fond of his crew. He would do anything for them, and does his best to take care of them. Indeed, he has done a few crazy things for the sake of his crew. Because of his deep devotion, his crew respect and likes him, and would follow him to the ends of Nirn and beyond, if that was possible.

Attitude to his Enemies: Marek is a relentless hunter, and he is relentless in combat, too. After boarding and subduing a ship, his tendencies tend to lean different ways depending on who owns the ship. Merchant Ships he tends to always let go, as there is no honor in killing unarmed, untrained people. The Empire and Dominion, however, he is pretty ruthless against. He tends to show a little more leniency to the Empire than the Dominion, however, after the enemy ship surrenders to him. Occasionally, he will ask if someone wants to join up with him. This has earned him the nickname Death.

Dislikes: Liars, Racists, Thalmor, The Aldmeri Dominion, The Empire

    Fears:
Disappointing his crew, letting his crew down

Aspirations: He hopes to one day Marry, and have children.

Quirks: He doesn't wear a typical outfit you would expect from a Pirate.

Armor: Marek wears a hide armor set, with chainmail, and tunic thrown over his upper body. The Coloration of it all is dark brown, almost black, and he has a hood he pulls up over his head that he added recently to amp up his scare factor in boarding actions.

Weapons: Marek's main weapon is a one-handed sword in his right hand, and a dagger in his left. He also carries a Two-Handed sword on his back, but that is more for show than for use, as he prefers the Sword and Dagger combo. He also carries two Flintlock Pistols.

Fighting Style - Land/on boarding actions: Marek prefers to get up close and personal. He will use his sword and dagger to carve into the enemy, and may even shoot off one of his pistols in the midst of melee combat.

Ship to Ship battles: Marek lets the Relentless pound away on her enemies, she is fast, and hits hard, so he uses that to their advantage. He also has a flag for both the Dominion and the Empire, which he will also use to his advantage, as he will fly the flag, and sneak into enemy convoys, and then let out devastating first salvos, catching ships off guard.

    History/Biography:

Marek was born to his parents, who he didn't know to well at all. He new his father used to be an Admiral, and his mother had been a mercenary. His parents died for standing up against the current Emperor, who was not good at all, and his corrupted Government. The Emperor had them executed. Marek was handed off to his Uncle to be raised. Growing into a strong young man, Marek joined his aunt and uncle's Privateer crew at the age of 14, right as the war between the Dominion and the Empire was brewing. His uncle always used to tell him with a wink: "I have no love for this Empire, but they are paying well, so I took the job.". Marek would laugh every time. Eventually, as time went on, Marek began turning into a fine sailor. He became his Uncle's Quartermaster, or second in command, and the duo terrorized the Abecean Sea and the Dominion for Six years until the war between the Empire and the Dominion ended. Realizing that they weren't going to get paid for their hard work in the war, his uncle launched a vote on his ship about what to do next. It was a unanimous vote, even Marek's aunt voted in favor of the idea. The plan was to raid an Imperial Convoy, and get their dues. Teaming up with a few other privateer ships, they raided the convoy, and got lots of gold from it. Realizing this could be a good way of earning a living, the Privateers continued raiding and plundering, both Imperial and Dominion ships now. They were getting good at their jobs, but they needed to find a place to lay all their loot, as they had gotten so much that their ships were actually slowing down from the weight. With that in mind, the Privateers, now deemed Pirates, set sail to the west, looking for a place to call home. Eventually, they stumbled upon a deserted, lush jungle island, with a natural harbor. Naming it Trinabad, they settled there, building a small village and a few docks. Marek was among the original founders of the Pirate Republic. As they prepared to set out raiding again, his Uncle informed Marek that he was going to retire, and that Marek will be getting to command his ship from now on. The crew, who Marek had known his whole life, approved, and so Marek came to be the captain of his own ship.

    Crew Members and Ship Bio:
    battleships-remnants-battle-pirate-ships-war-1080x1920.jpg

(The Relentless using its superior speed to annihilate a fleet of Dominion ships.)

Ship Name: The Relentless (Given the Nickname Death's Vessel by both the Empire and Dominion)

Ship Alias (or Aliases if you have more than one): "Death's Vessel"

Ship Classification: Brig (Classified as a Third-rate Ship of the Line)

Schematics: Length - 164 ft (50 m), Decks - Four decks. One oar deck close to the surface of the water, two gun decks, and the top deck, Crew Quarters - Second deck from the top, in the middle of the ship, Captain's Cabin - Captain's Cabin is of small to medium size, but it set up as a war and map room because Marek sleeps with his crew.

Armament: 80 Cannons (40 Per side. 12 on the lowest gun deck, 20 on the second deck, and 6 jury rigged into spots on the top deck.), four swivel guns (Two in the back, two at the front on the top deck), and two Mortar Launchers (At the front on the top deck). Cannons could fire round shot, grapeshot, chain-shot, or heat shot. It also has a Naval Ram on the front, used to ram other ships, and do more damage.

Armor: The Relentless had an ample amount of Mercanite (A metal native to Trinabad. Same strength as ebony, but lighter) armor overlain on the wood to help protect the ship, giving it a darker, almost even black look. While it was hard work to both mine the ore, and convert it into actual ingots to be used to make the plating, it certainly paid off, as the armor can shrug off some considerable hits.

    Sail Color: Faded White

Figurehead: The Relentless's figurehead is made to represent a Dragon. Whether made to mock the Imperials now, or for a salute to previous times, one thing for sure is know about the figurehead... it inspires fear.
    ac4-ship-jackdaw-figureheadpart2_zpsewljkjvd.jpg

Flag Design: Marek's flag took the Standard Black Flag, and created a master piece. The flag of "Death's Vessel" has spread fear throughout all of the waters of Tamriel.
    Refuge_Pirate_Flag.jpg

Important Crew Members: Rord Demon-Lizard (Quartermaster of the Relentless. He is a humongous male Argonian who stands at 7'2", and wears steel armor. His eyes are a bright orange, and can appear to glow red. Is actually a pretty nice guy if you get to know him. Former slave of the Dominion until Marek and the Relentless captured the ship he was being transported on), Do'Bako (Short, scrawny male Khajiit. Has Grey fur. Likes to sing, and leads the crew in Shanties all the time.), Shurik (Male Orc, average build. Is a good warrior, and an even better cook.), Ardwen Eagle-Eyes(Female Bosmer. Ok in melee combot, but hand her a rifle, and she is insanely accurate. Ship's Marksman. Stay's in the crow's nest in boarding actions, and snipes enemies from above.), Selveni (Female Dunmer. Doesn't fight much, but loves to create illusions. Her most famous one, and one that helps build the Relentless's reputation as "Death's Vessel", is her ability to conjure a black "dragon" with glowing red eyes that flies alongside the Relentless as it sails.

Hmm. Damnit. I've been planning a pirate RP since early January, but you beat me to it. Thankfully, this is a kingdom-style RP, whereas mine is more conventional, though it will be similar. Just wanted to let you know, since (and don't take this the wrong way) I can prove I've been planning mine for about a month. I have no doubt you've been planning too, and I'm not going to come out and say "STOP", because that would make me a real dick :p All I'm saying is, make sure you're aware of it when mine is opened to the world. Good luck with your RP, anyway :)

The OOC for mine will be going up next Monday, along with everything you'll need to know to apply and join. Don't give up on this so quickly though; some people might not have seen it yet.

Ok, well, I am going to go ahead and cancel out this thread here. I have come up with a batter Idea anyways, that I will start working on. Sifu and Write, if you want, I can save you a spot in that RP. It involves the Falmer...

Well... its a shame then :/ I think it had potential. When you do create it, I will indeed have a look. Good luck ;)
