We are currently in need of members. The premise of the RP is some arena combat which will eventually escalate into conflicts that stretch across countries, and eventually, even the continent. Maybe even beyond. I have a story clearly in mind, and I have multiple paths that can be taken. ANY and ALL creative, unique, and/or new ideas on your part are not just welcome, but encouraged. I grant complete creative freedom, as long as it is within the rules and is not unreasonable.

me, @Skyrimosity, @Blackdoom59, @CapObvious, @fellowknight, @Daryl Dixon will be judging your CCs and worthiness of membership. Entrance will require unanimous acceptance in all cases except when many of us are unavailable for a long period of time.

    http://skyrimforum.com/sf/threads/the-corrupted-guardian-death-in-the-family.46991/

In order to give a summary to save you some time reading through everything, our characters are, for some reason or another, are in an arena facing death by combat. But this arena isn't just any arena, it's THE Arena in Cyrodiil. But this isn't the same Cyrodiil we all know and love, it's degenerated greatly under a new emperor, poverty and crime both rising exponentially. The people, however, find solace in an old form of entertainment presented in a way it has never been before. The Arena has been expanded upon and built anew, with an astronomical amount of resources being put behind it.

The Emperor, Frigus Furor Acerbus, has two daughters. Both of them are widely hated and serve as a scapegoat, and outlet for most of the Empire's problems. There are exorbitant bounties placed on both of them. However, the younger of the two, Skadi, rarely saw the light of day, and so she remains largely an unknown. There isn't even a depiction of her on the bounty posters. It is also largely unclear whether the Emperor himself even acknowledges her.

My character has more or less been forced to get her out of her current circumstances, and was thrown into the arena (where most, if not all of the Empire's criminals, are thrown. Justly or not). All of the participants so far have been thrown in wrongly for some crime or another, however the circumstances of your entrance are completely up to you. You may even be a volunteer or an individual who chooses this life as a profession, or lifestyle. Maybe you volunteered yourself in place of another. Whatever the case, you get thrown in, and you probably have some beef with the current emperor. Or maybe your in it for the thrill? The money? Whatever. Your motivations are completely up to you as well.

Rules: Standard RP rules apply, but be warned that this is an 18+ RP, and it is rather dark. I will actively be doing my best to test you as we get further into it. This will not be for the feint of heart.

I am rather lenient when it comes to activity. As long as you let me know you are alive periodically, you're good. If you begin to hinder the RP's progress however, and do not give proper notice, you're gone and will have to reapply.

Proper grammar skills are not optional, though honest mistakes are acceptable.

Do not hesitate to speak up if you have an idea or any input, and you are to CALL ME OUT if you EVER see me making a mistake. Don't worry, I'm a big boy, I can take it.

Any CC format is acceptable as long as you provide an adequate amount of information. If you do not have an adequate amount of information, I will inform you of what you need.

This RP is going to get rather intense as it goes on, and so a powerful character is more acceptable. DO NOT however, give me some uninteresting and boring Gary Stu or Mary Sue. I am working actively to prevent even myself from falling into such a trap, so I can relate to any of your difficulties. But ultimately, if we see you tripping, we will tell you.

Keep it friendly in the OOC. You guys might be working with each other for awhile, and if you get to know each other and all that, it will make this experience something you enjoy doing rather than something that will eventually become a chore.

And another thing to note is that any of the story premises presented in the OOC thread can be changed (and are usually changing, due to all the time I get in between posts) at the drop of a hat. I have had about a year now to brainstorm countless ideas and ways to torture your characters.

I'd like to reapply. Will post a better version of my CC later, rather than just copy pasting the old one.

I hope we will continue from where we left off and not start over, right?

Was hoping you would reapply! Yes, I had a plan in case no one reapplied where it could have continued rather seamlessly, and still left it open for the characters to return in the future.

Hey there, Gidian! You may not remember me, but I believe that at one point, you gave me luck on my first RP thread I made, Fading Hope. I thank you for that, by the way :) But anyhow, it fell asleep sometime later on and now there's talk of a reboot.

    But that's besides the point!

I was hoping I could sign up here for this thread, as I know I'll have plenty of spare time over the holidays. Obviously, i'll be absent on the holidays themselves, but otherwise, i will do my utmost to be present for the progression of this story. I have utter faith in this RP and it's thrills to come.

Below, I've included the shortest, most explanatory CC I have on record for Baroth. If you require it to be shortened, that's no problem.

    Player Name: Fellowknight

    Character Name: Baroth Hermingfel

    Gender: Male

Race: He can be classified as a Nord, but recognizes himself of Nedic descent.

Age and Date of Birth: ???, looks 43, Born 5th of Morning Star, Turdas.

    Marital Status: Single.

    Sexual Preference:
    Straight.

Class and Combat Preference: Baroth is, or can be closely classified as, a knight. In any large crisis or sudden outbreak of chaos, Baroth does his utmost to be there or at the very least attempt prevent it. Now, this doesn't mean he runs around the planet, flailing his sword at every wasp destined to sting someone. People die, and most of the time, there's nothing you can do about it. Baroth has accepted this. But, that said, Baroth does his best to prevent, control, contain, or at least fight the major epidemics that happen to spring up in Skyrim, and in a few cases, the world.

In combat, Baroth tries to subdue the attacker into submission in order to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. But this is not always the best route, as the assailant may have a group of friends. If and when forced to fight, Baroth prefers to get in close with his trusted sword and shield, so as to either overwhelm, or 'suffocate' his attacker with flurries of counters, slashes, uppercuts, and shield-bashes. Baroth has learned that he can't spend an entire battle behind his shield, and needs to be prepared to have it flailed or disarmed from him. And when it is, Baroth always has a thick and sharp tungsten knife hidden in his right boot and another in a small sheathe buried in his left gauntlet. Baroth has also learned a small selection of basic and advanced skills and methods in Archery, Spell-casting, Stealth, Hand-to-hand, and Free-running (despite his growing size.) On an off-note, Baroth has also learned about the human anatomy, how long bodies have been deceased, and multiple languages commonly spoken.

Character Appearance: Being of pure Nedic decent, Baroth has retained his strong masculine features, such as his jawline, his nose, his dirty-blonde colored hair, etc. Over the time he has spent in Skyrim, Baroth has devoted time aside to retain his built frame and muscles by exercising, eating healthy, drinking less mead, and waking up earlier. Aside from a white scorch mark on his right shoulder, a thin vertical scar running from just above his belly button to his mid-stomach, and three scars intersecting his back, Baroth is so far unscaved, ignoring the few cuts and scratches he's earned. Standing at Five-foot-six and weighing in at two-hundred twenty-five pounds, Baroth sports a groomed and trimmed beard, tweezed eyebrows, and shoulder-length dirty-blonde hair with one braid on the left side. (His left.)

    Character Image:
    OlderLookingNord.jpg

    Personality:
Baroth, in all his entirety, is a down-to-earth person who only asks that you be yourself and treat others fairly. He knows the habits of other people and has considered them to be natural, but he has a tolerance level for everyone. Baroth doesn't get angry 'too' often, as he often tries to 'mask' his emotions, but when he does get angry it takes more than a cheap ale and a back-pat to calm him down. And given his acquired mind-frame, heightened senses, and illegal resources, he can be a deadly, ruthless adversary.

With an intricate acumen for death, after countless years experiencing/dealing it, he has a warped his view on society, and feels his place in it has dissolved. To rectify this, he typically acts with altruistic judgement, consequentially causing trouble. He can become emotionally unstable and even outright impulsive when he loses someone close to him, a heartless rage threatening to consume him. His abnormal grieving process has all but matured to solitary contemplation.

Over the years, Baroth has developed a mutual respect for the unknown despite his natural curiosity. Though he still has wishes to learn, Baroth knows the danger Nirn wields and how quickly it consumes people. A handful of millennia gave him enough insight to evade this demise, but he can't undo the blood sacrament his body requires. Equipped with a photographic memory, Baroth subconsciously remembers each of his victims faces. Because of this, though down-to-earth, Baroth has convinced himself to do what he must to save lives.

History: Baroth Hermingfel was born the fifth of Morning Star on Turdas, in Atmora, before it became the frozen deathland it's known as today. He was raised by his mother and father, two hard-working laborers in Atmora's early reign, and was their only child. During this time, there was a brewing civil war moving towards their home but they remained oblivious and continued to live out their lives, up until the morning their house was ransacked and burned down, and Baroth's parents were brutally executed.

So, forced to live on his own, Baroth ran from inn to inn, and town to town, just narrowly escaping the ensuing war. Baroth sought refuge in the capital city of Evensdale, but was forced off the path to save a 'damsel in distress'. During the battle, Baroth was badly wounded and was hurried off to Evensdale' palace to be healed.

Over his years of rest and healing, Baroth and the damsel, (whom he now knew as Joldi, princess to the to the throne), formed a liking toward each other which eventually turned into a full-fleshed relationship. At the age of 36, Baroth left Atmora to protect the lands from war unimaginable and remained at war for four years, before finally returning home. There was a great celebration that lasted for days before the city decided to finally start cleaning itself up and reorganizing Atmora. However, before the city could do this entirely, it suffered a deadly blow.

It was the fourth of Morning Star, Mondas. The city slept at midnight. One of it's gravest mistakes. Little can be said of that night, only that princess Joldi lost her life in a vicious attack and Baroth was mortally wounded. Only those who were there, truly knew what happened.

    But they're all dead now.

Baroth was so taken by shock and grief, he didn't speak for days, even on the journey out of Atmora, when it truly plunged into chaos. And when the boat touched shore in Skyrim, Baroth did not linger with his kin for long. He made haste towards the mountains and within two years, he stumbled upon a civilization that would later become known as the most advanced in all of Tamriel.

The Dwemer people, surprisingly without question or remorse, took Baroth into their culture and allowed him to live among them. And while he would never be nearly as smart, skilled, or powerful as they were, they treated him fair all the same. And for years, this unsteady alliance continued, up until the climax of the latest war, topped only with the Dwemer's extinction.

So, Baroth made his journey back to the surface world with little hurry, only to find that the world had changed more than he could have ever fathomed. History had passed and the world had formed. He saw inventions that his kin would've never even thought up only a few centuries back.

The times had changed, and Baroth did his best to keep up with the ever growing and changing civilizations and cultures.

And so it was that he molded with the people once more, and was forgotten both as a hero, and an immortal.

Currently, Baroth is delved in the Imperial City, covertly investigating the cause of the poverty and sudden drop in civilian morale and rise in the activity at the Arena itself. Recently however, he was 'apprehended' and arrested by the city guard, under the charge of unrightful and unauthorized investigation of private affairs, along with trespassing, suspected thieving, murder of an innocent citizen, and unproven arguments against high ranking nobles. Shortly after being thrown in the mudhole that passed as the Arena's prison, Baroth was selected to battle in a three-on-one death match.

I like it! I do remember Fading Hope. I ALMOST applied, but had issues with time xD I kept up with it and read it for awhile.

I think I remember this character when you stored it in the Characters thread, I think i liked it, repped it, and rated it then too xD

I have no problem with the CC. You got my vote.

    :D Yay!
For a second, I thought I'd have to... :ashstab:

    BUT ANYWAYS!

It is sad, Fading Hope going like that, but I have a few plans in place to revive it in time. But that's a different story for another time ;)

So, am I correct in saying that I am to set my intro in the midst of my arena deathmatch, or should I perhaps hold off on that?

Skyrimosity still has to give you a yes or a no. The vote has to be unanimous. Then, you can do your intro however you want. If you would like to coordinate it, then that's a matter for the OOC or PMs :p

    OH!

Also, sifting through the pages of the OOC here, reading up on the plot line I assume this is based off of. So, we're engaged in a player-driven story where we start out in the Arena in Cyrodiil and eventually venture out in a party of some sort across the world?

Sorry if I may have missed a major plot point or if I come off as an ass, just trying to get an outlook on what I can expect, though I know you have plenty of twists of your own :p

Garret likes to think he is funny, as he will always tell jokes no matter who hears them, he is quick to make friends but he can also anger the wrong people.

Aspirations: To become rich and powerful, To uncover all alchemy mixtures, To make up with the guild.
Quirks: Will always make jokes, and people won't always find them funny.
Philosophy: Garret is not a man of principle, he dislikes solders and people who throw their life away on an idea. Garret lives live for what it's worth, enjoying the small things and ignoring the big ones. He can sometimes be sympathetic to those in need, but other times he can be cruel and ruthless. He never lets his emotions get the best of him, and, in the end, if he has to pick, he'l chose the side that pays.
    Skills
    Master:
Alchemy: Garret was mixing ingredients since he was a kid, and he kept doing it for his entire life. An alchemist as skilled as him is hard to find in Tamriel.
Stealth: Garret has spent enough of his time in the guild to understand how one can blend in with shadows, crowds and foliage. He can be very sneaky and hard to detect.
Fingersmith: Having spent most of his time as a thief doing fishing and heist jobs, Garret is a Master pickpocket and lock picker.
    Expert:
Light Weaponry: Even if he will most likely try and avoid combat, if the situation calls for it, Garret is a master Swordsman, as he had spent countless hours training in the art of dagger and sword.
Speech: Garret has developed an expertise in Speech Craft over time. He can barter with you and make you give your most precious and expensive item for almost nothing, he can persuade you into doing what he wants and if you don’t seem to be able to handle yourself, Garret can also be quite intimidating.
    Adept:
Free Running/Parkour/Climbing: Garret dislikes riding horses, you would rather find him in a carriage rather than on a horse. However he has enough stamina to climb and run, as sometimes he is forced to escape certain situations.
Light Armor: Garret never wore a plate mail, as he finds the weight of such armors too big for his liking. He has used light armor as a mean of defense for as long as he’s been a thief.
Marksmanship: Garret understands how strong an arrow can be. It can apply a strong poison, it can trigger a trap, it can open a door, it can distract, it can kill. Even if he’s not the combat archer type, Garret won’t hesitate to use his bow at any given point.
    Perks
    Appearance
    Height: 1.86 M
    Weight: 85 Kg
    Build: Fit, Athletic
    Hair Length: Short
    Hair Color: Crimson
    Facial Hair: Short Beard
    Eye Color: Green
Scars: Large scar on left eye, mostly covered by his eyepatch.
    2049-1-1322603360.jpg

    leather_steampunk_eyepatch_by_drocan-d46ja2i.jpg

    Gear
Armor: Just like in the pic, however the color is dark green instead of black.
Weapons: Ebony Bow, Ebony Longsword, With a dwarven dagger hidden in his boot for harsh times.
Misc: If engaged in combat, Garret’s left arm will be empty, leaving him space to disarm, break defence or grab a potion.
    History/Biography
Childhood: Garret was born in Evermor, High Rock. He dosen’t know much about his past. His mother, Felicia, was a Breton alchemist and his father was a forsworn. At his birth his father was assassinated for betraying the forsworn, and Garret took his father’s only known name. After giving birth, Felicia started to suffer from a terrible disease, and she died when Garret was only 10, leaving him the alchemy shop.
Teenager: His teen years started tough, as he had to take care of an adult’s business. That, however, strengthened him, making him much more mature for his age. As he grew up, he became quite popular among the youth at the inns, as he always had money to spend, his alchemy paid off well.
Adult: When he reached adulthood, Garret sold his old shop and went to Markarth, To set his new shop there. He encountered the Thief Guild in that city, and he left selling potions behind, and became a full on thief. In the guild he learned a lot, and made many good friends. After a couple of years with the Guild, Garret was already somewhat rich. He was building a manor next to Riften, he was engaged to a lovely maiden, and life was good for him. However Garret is a curios fellow. He heard rambling in the guild about nightingales, and he went to a temple of Nocturnal to check it out. There the daedric princess revealed him the truth about the Guild and how the nightingales were formed. Garret wanted to share this information with his fellow guild mates, however the leader didn’t share his enthusiasm. He was framed for betraying the guild, his house under construction was burned down, and his future wife left him. He had nothing left, and so he went back to his old business - Alchemy. He gained quite a reputation, as his years in the Guild did nothing but empower his alchemist abilities. Garret became renowed as The Cold Benefactor, and contracts from around Tamriel started using his services.

You're correct about the idea of the story. And questions are good. I love when people get involved with it because it's a chance for improvement.

And your intro mostly depends on what you want to do. You could do a post where you come in now or we could coordinate and set it up for your character to come in in the future. You could have freshly been thrown in, and post your character catching up to ours. You could already be in the arena, and run into us. You could be one of our opponents in the arena, and seek to join us afterwards. There's plenty of options here, as I am only railroading the story when necessary.

Alrighty then! I'll tell you what I was thinking of doing for my intro post, and you can tell me if it'll be good to use or not. For Baroth, I was thinking I could have him just entering the Arena itself, where he fights those three men and is promptly returned to his cell, maybe even running into one of the other combatants.

Would this be ok to do or should I try something else? I did see that the 'games' were designed as a sort of Hunger Games, if I'm correct, where we as combaters are forced to face each other, though we forge alliances behind the scenes. Am I correct so far?

That would be fine. And it is similar to the Hunger Games in several ways (except actually being bloody and violent). A few differences being it is possible to form groups and teams. We won't always be fighting solo, though we may each be forced to at some point. I do warn you, that the harder you make your character, the harder the opponents the arena overseers throw at you are.

Ahh, ok. I got it. Well, in the meantime, i'll be going over the OOC and IC thread so I can get a handle on the background of the story and figure out what happened so far, so I can fit Baroth in without disrupting anything. I won't start writing my post until I'm fully accepted, to be fair and not get ahead of myself.

Thanks for the help, Gidian :)

Yippies! Alrighty then, i'll get started on my intro post in that case. I'll position myself to not disrupt the progress so far. I have it all planned out...mostly. But it'll come to me. Also, I'd like to reserve Crisp Raspberry? for Baroth's dialogue. I've come to the decision of making Baroth fight before a selectively large audience of 'evaluators' in a fairly large room, much like the mess hall, where he would kill those men before being taken somewhere else.

I was contemplating on tackling the arena, but personally voted against it, what with all the planning and having to describe such a large, filled structure. Also, it seems awfully self-absorbed and kind of meaningless for him to fight in such a large empty space, against so few opponents. I'll leave it up to you guys to describe the arena space itself, as I respect the mental image you might have for it.
