So, I'm rooming with a friend for an unknown amount of time. He has wifi in the house, but the router is on the first. He can connect to this router from his room on the second floor and I can connect with my laptop and Xbox One, but on my xbox one when I connect, it tells me the Service Info is unavailable and I can't use any online functions. My friend suggested it may be because of my laptop being connected while my xbox is on, but I don't think that's the problem considering my laptop is on whenever he uses his xbox One and he has no problems whatsoever. Is there something blocking the internet, or is it cause of my laptop or is it something entirely different?

Hmm. I doubt the laptop being on simultaneously has anything to do with it, but just to be sure have you tried shutting the laptop off then running internet on the Xbox? Have you tried the usual internet fixes - restarting the modem and the router (by restart I mean unplug and plug in again, that clears the cache and helps them run)? Have you tried double checking you're typing in the correct password on your Xbox? Have you tried toggling the wifi on and off on the Xbox? Have you tried turning the wifi off on both the Xbox and then restarting both the router and modem, then restarting the Xbox, turn the wifi back on all three and then running it?
If none of that has worked I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe it's out of range, have you tried moving the Xbox in the same room as the wifi and see if that works? Wifi antennas on consoles tend to be finnicky. I have to have my wireless modem in the same room as my PS3 or it gets to weak of a signal to work.
