I go to the above mentioned shrine ( I think), It was at shearpoint and I see a dead dragon on top. So I think until the "Dead" dragon is actually a living dragon and I'm battling for my life. I fire a lightning bolt and summon two Flame atronachs(Sp?) that furiously attacks the dragon with fireballs. The dragon lands and I put two Dremora lords on the ground to attack it. An epic battle starts with swords and Bound arrows, I win.
I quickly run over to the wall as a Dragon priest jumps up in a scene I'd almost describe funny. But I have no such time to ponder as it fires some spells at me with the ferocity of the killed dragon. I call my two Dremora lords and they fight him while I sit and enjoy the splendid view while firing some apprentice destruction spells for fun. I loot 'da A-hole and take the word.

Being a Thane of Winterhold has its perks as I found out as I once again inadvertently committed a crime. The guard went to arrest me and I was like "Hey don't you know I'm the thane of Winterhold" and he was like "Oh, okay then I'll look away this time". LOL that was awesome. Or after fixing up my Steel Plate Armor and I walk by a guard and he compliments me on it. Or when I stopped in a dungeon to read a book and while reading Lydia has a little bit of a coughing fit, that was awesome. It's the little things that really are starting to give me WOW moments.

BTW - Does anyone know if bodies decompose over time? I notice that they don't just disappear like in other games, which is more realistic. I'm pretty methodical when I kill people in the open world as I have taken to disposing of their bodies.
they eventually disappear but only if empty if anything is left in them they stay forever I used a dead trader guard as a bank for awhile when overloaded

I have a couple as well. The whole Random/infinite dragons is freakin stupendous! And I always hate other games and how they make DRAGONS so freakin easy to kill. In Skyrim, they are tough, and I LOVE that. Also, that they are intelligent. Kinda reminds me of dragon movies, liek dragon heart (Sean Connery) =)

In one such random dragon encounter, I was on my way to fight a dragon at some watchtower for a quest. I am sprinting on my horse, still a good ways away, and a dragon pops up. I think "I must have been closer than I thought," long battle, I'm a fairly weak pure mage, so it was a good 5-10 minute fight, with bears and wolves jumping in to hassle me. AfterI kill the dragon, I check my journal, and still have the quest, and realize this was a different dragon. THIS, by the way, was I discovered the whole random/infinite dragons, so the magic was captivating. I make it to the watchtower shortly after, to find the second dragon. During the fight, he kept flying behind a mountain, apparently landing back there where I could not get him, and was taking damage, battling something else. I actually did not even get more than a few shorts in with my bow, and lightening bolts. When he died, I was pissed that I didn't get to kill him and absorb his soul, so I bee-lined around the mountain, found a path up, made my way to the spot where the dragon had died, still laying there, next to a (now) dead wolf. "No way that wolf killed the dragon." I found, to my relief, that I could still absorb the soul. No sooner had I finished absorbing the soul, than I was assaulted by the true killer of my dragon, ANOTHER DRAGON! 3rd fight back to back to back. Killed him too, though he was HARD since I was out of magicka and health potions from the first two. He seriously probably took 15 minutes.

I am sure I will find more, (hopefully less lengthy) and I'll post them later!

I had a "wow" moment last night. My archer had just interrogated Nepos (sp?) in Markath. After he confessed to being the mastermind behind all the strange murders and informed me I wouldn't leave his home alive, I did just that...running my ass off.

Of course, his lackeys came after me, so I led them on a merry chase around Markath, stopping every once in a while to put an arrow into one of them. Finally I ran out of running room at the top of a set of stairs with one of his lackeys left. She rushed me with her dagger, deftly sidestepping my shot. After she connected with a few quick slashes, I stepped back and got another arrow off, just wounding her. She rushed me again and I bow-bashed her, knocking her back a few steps. Rather than fire another shot, I charged her and bow-bashed her again, sending her falling backwards from the high landing we were on, crashing to her death in a rushing torrent of water below.

I stopped and watched her lifeless body flow down stream with the water and thought, "Wow...that was eff'ing awesome...would've made a wicked movie."

It may not be a "wow" moment, but I absolutely love it when I fire an arrow at an unsuspecting bandit from behind and they face-plant Peter Griffin style, lol. Makes me laugh every time.

I have had more than a few but my favorite was a guard he was all psst....I know who you are, Hail Sithis. it caught me off-guard and was a nice little detail I thought added to the game.

I suppose the first thing that made me pause the game to take in what just happened was nearly the first thing I did in the game. When I got out of the "tutorial cave" I felt this amazing sense of freedom and instead of following the path to Riverwood I ended up hopping over a log and wandering West. I came upon a small fort and decided to test my luck with the Bandits. So I end up making it through their forces on the outside and I decide to clear out the inside as well. Big mistake. I walk up the stairs and their leader walks right up to me with a battle axe and in one swing takes my head clean off in a third person execution camera. I couldn't help but laugh when it happened and decided to just make a new character and start the main quest. =)

I must say, almost every time I turn the game on and start playing there is a "wow" moment. But, one the most "wow" moments for me was when I was just trekking through a mountain, suddenly I see a huge dragon flapping it's wings right in my face giving me quite the jump, after killing it and absorbing it's soul I decide to fast travel to Winterhold. Once there, I notice the guards freaking out and pulling out their bows, I hear a screech and feel a violent shake from behind me as a dragon lands on a roof. As I pull out my bow it takes off and starts swooping down at me and the guards. As we finally kill it I realize how random dragons can be.

I was standing in front of the smiths house in Whiterun, selling stuff. Accidentally "took off" my armor, so I stood there in my undies. And imagine my surprise when some guy walks by and I hear him commenting "You should get some clothes or people will start looking weird at you" (or something along those lines).
I was actually feeling embarassed in my chair for a moment (no, I had clothes on!)

The other time was more of a WTF *HEARTATTACK* moment, but I'd say if a game gets you there, it's worth a WOW. So I was in a cave, killing the casual draugrs. Cleared the area, was looting the burial urns when this "RAGHHH" made me freaking jump in my chair! I literally paniced for a moment! I had not seen this one draugr and his shout caught me completly off-guard! Did I mention I had some pretty decent quality headphones?

Well done, Elders, well done!

So last night was not only awesome, but very satisfying as well! I've been working on the "Forbidden Legend" quest for a couple of nights now (I get side-tracked very easily) and last night I finally beat it. I'll try not to spoil it for anyone, but let's just say 5 dungeons later, the reward was pretty good, but the questing through the dungeons was reward enough! I highly recommend to listen and read everything through that quest because it's very interesting and has a great plot line to it! So far, that was one of the most satisfying quests (at least that I can think of) not only because of the fighting, but the great plot behind it! I should've called into work today...

My first "wow" moment, probably happens to everyone (happened to all my friends) is right at the beginning when u leave Helgen or any town to b exact. Your following a path, going who knows wheres, u see a rabbit and u go "OMG A BUNNY!!! MUST KILL!!!" you chase it down, kill it and then "wtf, where am i???" Happened to me right at start, i completely missed the 3 stones (warrior, mage and theif) from the path cuse of that little bunny :p

My maybe favourite "wow" moment was when i was doing some thieves guild missions and i was near windhelm and on the road i spot this Khajiit guy and sneak to him and i was blown away when i found who he was! HE WAS THE ONE AND ONLY M'AIQ THE LIAR! i was so happy that they bringed him from oblivion :) But he must be very old if Skyrims events are 200 years after Oblivion Crisis but anyways well played Bethesda well played!

My two biggest wow moments so far.

1. Looking up into the night sky and seeing the Aurora.

2. SPOILERS:

There is a lighthouse near the north where you find a family murdered. If you hunt around you find their journals, which detail little bits about their lives and make exploring the lighthouse easier (where to find the key to the basement etc). Without revealing too much, after you discover what killed them, you are rewarded with the typical chest and boss loots. However, if you paid attention to the journals, you can get a little something extra. You would never be able to get the something extra without reading each journal thoroughly, and thus, the game is rewarding you for having an eye for detail....this tiny, intricate level of detail completely validated everything I had been praising the game for up to this point.

I've been playing skyrim for 173 hours. not constantly but enough to know skyrim like the back of my hand. I can't get enough of my level 56 assassin with a little restoration and illusion.

All i can say is my biggest WOW moment was when i first just decided to explore the world and i see a couple bandits i the distance and i begin to sneak in and out of nowhere a dragon picks one up and tosses him. Luckily i hid and the dragon wiped out all the bandits and i stood there shocked at how great the NPC dragons react to the land of skyrim. The end:)
