It honestly doesn't matter. It's just there to butter the man up and get him to drop some information about the Grey Mane son that's been taken prisoner. I always say Battle-born just because.

The Gray Manes support the storm Cloaks while the Battleborns support the Empire. But telling Idalof you support Battleborn allows you to get info for rescuing a Grey Mane during the Missing in Action quest. I think it may also add progress to your speech skill.

Neither. Battle-Borns are arrogant, Grey-Manes whiny and holier-than-thou.
If anything, Jon & Olfina's Juliet and Romeo story plz.

Olfina: "So have you spoken to that man from the Bards College?"
Jon: "No, not yet. But I will. I just haven't... gotten around to it yet."
Olfina: "Oh Jon, stop dallying. You know you have to go. It's why Mara put you on this earth. You think a few miles can truly keep us apart?"
Jon: "You mean you won't forget about me the moment I'm out of sight? Get yourself a nice old rich husband, have sixteen babies?"
Olfina: "Tsk. You've uncovered my master plan. Now I suppose you'll never leave."
Jon: "Harlot."

How do you backstab a Dragon?
99% of the time it's Battle-born, although I do love Eorland and his wife and always help them too, but I'm an Imperialist at heart. Doing a runthrough as a Nord Heavy/2 handed as a Stormcloak though and, necessarily, he had to be a xenophobic a**ho**, so it's been fun. Just kill every non-human you run across and everything in an imperial uniform and you're good to go. It's simple, it's mindless and it's a hoot. Plus you don't have to worry about magic, enchanting or alchemy.

Talk about brainless fun. :)
