The Dark Brotherhood cannot survive without financial assistance. If you start making a habit of "off the clock" kill then eventually the word will spread around. People aren't going to perform the Black Sacrament if they know that the assassin is going to kill them after the contract has been completed. It's extremely bad for business... which is exactly what the Dark brotherhood is... a business. People pay the Dark Brotherhood hood to have other people murdered.

Imperial supporter or not.. The Emperor wanted you to kill the person whom is going to pay you plops loads of money to have him killed. Hell he didn't even offer you anything as of compensation for your time. He expected you to do his bidding.

The Emperor could of given me his ship as payment for killing Amaund, but no. He didn't even offer anything.

Harkin

Necromatic Mastermind
Maybe. Though you are immune to most words like that. So it would be surprising for it to suddenly work. I know you Harkin!

But that is interesting. I guess the question is: did he just offer you what you wanted? Since the DB is defined by the bloodthirsty nature of their members (Even Lachance was a barely contained psycho)

Plus if you notice it is a different guy the second time. Free money, higher kill count and no skin off your teeth. Win win win.

!!! Wait, You know me? !?!?

I think I remember killing the guy, he's that one that hands you the Jeweled amulet to give delvin ain't he. The Emperor seemed like he was ready to embrace death, and that was respectable... Amaund to me was the kinda guy that someone who a poster above stated - a loose end. Lol@ everyone killing him 4 tha lootz.

Word will spread around? Dead men don't tell tales.

You actually make more money killing Motierre than not. He has a good number of gems on his person. Consider that payment.

The dead man in his living life could of told a friend, out of anger, that he's going to perform the Black Sacrament to get rid of rival competition, or a troublesome.

150 - Flawless Garnet
350 - Flawless Ruby
400 - Sapphire
600 - Emerald
800 - Diamond

Total value = 2300 gold minus the amount that merchants haggles you with prior the final transaction.

I tell you what... add an additional 0 to that total amount, and without the haggling bs with the merchants, and the Emperor has himself a deal. In fact I would even go as far as to spare his life, and go after Motierre instead.

Or the other option that I find satisfaction.... I can spare the Emperor's life by forcing him to walk the fricken plank, and keeping his ship as payment for killing Motierre.

The ironic part is the entire payment is used to rebuild the Dark Brotherhood after this contract destroyed what was left so.. you kinda basically worked for free unless you killed him.

Not really. You're rebuilding an organization that you now own. The Dark Brotherhood becomes your personal business. You're using the gold to make the sanctuary a bit more comfortable, and homie like, and you're using the gold to recruit new assassins to be part of your new family.

Yeah, I killed him. He had a hand in the destruction of the DBH. Not intentionally, but his contract ended the DBH as I joined it, so he had to go once the real emperor was dead. Besides, the amulet he gives you came from power, so, unless I want someone having the power to blackmail me with what I have done for him, as politicians are known to do, he needs to disappear, permanently.

When the emperor is killed Amaund could gain some more power in the empire, not to mention that he could possibly now have the DBH at his side, knowing they are still alive and functional, he will grow power hungry, not only that but at any time he could just turn against the DBH knowing that they could pose a threat to his coming power, I wouldnt want someone like that in the empire, he's also a bit of a douche bag. Its better to silence him.

Even though after the destruction of the DBH, the contract was still open, in any case it was sort of personal at the same time, that quest almost got you killed and destroyed most of your family.

I honored his request. Amaund is a condescending douche that talks bad about the DBH right to your face and is simply a politician that will turn on you if it benefits him

Every single politicians are that way. They all crave for power and lust for it at every wimp. As the new owner of a well known assassin organization, why is bad to have someone who is either a member of the Elder counsel or have connections to them on their side? In fact that is a plus for the organization considering the fact that both parties can both benefit from it a great deal.

Amaund is a business man. I don't think he'll turn against the Dark brotherhood. He even acknowledge through dialogue that he isn't that dumb to double cross them.

Besides what makes you think you, as the new Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, any better than Amaund? Look at what you've done, as a result of not killing Astrid when you had a chance? Instead you obeyed her orders by killing an innocent of more people just to be set free.

When I do the Dark Brotherhood questline, I kill Amaund, mostly because he is a loose end, and loose ends need to be tied up (dealt with). Not to mention that if you do not actually wear the armor, people logically would not know that you are Dark Brotherhood.

This was the most disappointing quest line ever. Well this and the thieves guild. I mean what happened to the innovation in Oblivion? Anyways yes I kill that useless piece of garbage every time. I know an assassin isn't suppose to discriminate against clients but this guy had it coming. On a side note I loved poisoning the emperor's body double.:p

Business is business, someone might want Amaund dead, someone might just contact the DBH....you get the picture.

I just wanted to say, Amaund kind of pays you before you decide to kill him or not, so that decision is more personal than practical.

Yes, amaund needed to die, trying to raise his position he should have seen it coming, and you have to honor a dying mans last wish don't you?

How do you backstab a Dragon?

Why? That's like honoring the last request of your mark if your a grifter.

While I admit that I do always kill Armaud - it's because he's a douche, not because the Emperor requested it. I could give a flyin' fig about the Emperor. He was just another mark. He was a job.

Armaud I kill strictly for pleasure.

hmm.. pretty sure I did kill that dude once, but I never actually let the Emperor speak. One time, I accidentally had my bow drawn before I went through the load screen and I shot the Emperor in the head the instant I walked through the door. The next time, I did the same thing just to see if I could pull off such an assy shot again. Seems I could, so I did that ever since. Heh.
