Since reading the black book which allows the strengthening of Unrelenting Force, I can now vaporize skeletons and bunnies.
That is so mean, you heartless bastard.

I can't believe you would take joy in vaporizing nice, fuzzy, cute, friendly little skeletons.

A lot, especially early on. My shout is usually my opening shot, followed up with sword and board.
Considering we all know you dual-wield axes in as near nudity as possible, I really don't want to consider where you might keep the shield stashed

Zero cool down shouts is fun.
It got old for me quick though. I despise "Menu Fighting" so I found myself only using Dragonrend & Marked for Death.
yeah. It does get old and annoying to have to keep going to the favorites menu to change shouts (or magic since I'm a mage and I change my magic a lot). But the zero cooldown has helped me really appreciate the shouts more.

Do you guys not use the numbers 1 through 9 to quick favorite stuff? Switching through spells is a breeze now and I use quite a bit of 'em. Switching through different powers is also now really handy (compared to xbox with only 2 hot keys).

XBox...

How are Fire Breath, Frost Breath and Ice Form with all 3 words???? I've only ever gotten one word of each I believe, and always wondered how powerful they would be with all 3 words but never got around to looking for them.

Couldn't tell ya. I only have two words for each at the moment, still working on getting the last one. I will say that even with only two words they're pretty powerful. I've killed Draugrs with one hit of Fire Breath before. :D

*Reanimates 10 skeletons*, then commands them to throw rocks at Kohlar the Unkilled. Lmao

Seriously tho, I'm really surprised at how many ppl don't use shouts, I have a select five in my quickmenu, that I frequently use. Slow time, Ice Form, Elemental Fury, Ethreal Shout and Beserker Rage (Racial Ability).

I hardly use Unrelenting Force because its just a powerful push, doesn't really do much damage on harder difficulties.

To the topic creator - Ice form gets a little stronger and the freeze lasts longer with max words, its only really useful for paralyzing a particularly tough twat while you prepare for their demise. I like freezing Snow trolls because of the Irony, its also fun to try on Greybeards. Not recommended though...haha.

Considering that Arngeir is tied with Miraak as the highest leveled NPC, not doing it is probably good advice

Someone lured a Frost Troll back to the Greybeards, and hahahaha. It was just stuck laying on its back in the frozen state.

IMO, Fire and Frost Breath are both pretty weak, even with 3 words. Ice form is potent with all 3, but it takes too long to recharge. The biggest advantage to a shout, to me, is that it interrupts an attack instantly, so I use ice form with 1 word only. It freezes them solid, knocks them over, just for not as long, but it recharges quicker. I also very much like one-word Cyclone. It literally picks them up and dumps them on their heads, so you get the same effect as a 3-word Unrelenting Force, but nowhere near the recharge time. :D

When I'm fighting seriously, I use them religiously. Become Ethereal and Unrelenting Force are by far some of the most useful.

Become Ethereal is great for obvious reasons, and is basically Jesus on higher difficulties.

Unrelenting Force, I see, is getting dissed a lot. It's first word has a short cooldown, is easy to obtain, and functions like a shield bash (EXTREMELY useful, that stagger will save your life and give you some free hits depending on what weapon you use).

Both of these are extremely useful methods of damage avoidance. Even the full Fus Ro Dah shout is extremely useful depending on where you aim it.

I use Dragon Aspect religiously when I have it, but it is usually obtained too late to matter.

Dragonrend, when it is obtained, is invaluable. It is basically a free stagger on a dragon to interrupt their attacks, as well as keeping them grounded. I advice only using the first word, as it has a fast cool down and the stagger is more useful than keeping them grounded for a longer duration.

If I'm being mobbed, I also use Ice Form to get some of them off me.

The nordic racial power is also basically Jesus on higher difficulties (Fu** you, Krev the Skinner!)

All the time!

The only Shouts I never use are Call of Valor, Battle Fury (don't use followers) and Dragonrend (except against Alduin ofc; it takes all the fun and most challenge out of dragon battles).

Some, like Aura Whisper, Become Ethereal, Cyclone, Disarm, Fire Breath, Ice Form, Slow Time, Unrelenting Force and Whirlwind Sprint I use a LOT - regardless of how many Words I have.
I also really like the Phantom Form Shout (the one the Greybeards use to conjure the targets during "Way of the Voice"), but since it's only made acquirable by a mod...

Ah yeah...... I use an xbox controller to play. I suck at using the keyboard and only use it for my journal mod. Although I might try using the keyboard and mouse on my next game play since Oblivion forces me to play that way

Ah I see. But I would definitely try it!! I SUCKED ASS the first time I tried to play with my mouse and keyboard. But after a couple days, I was loving it because there are so many more options. And some mods come with hot keys that you can assign, so you will have way more than just 1 through 9. So helpful.

Wyrmstooth. There might be others, but WT is the only one I know of. Awesome mod, btw, though not quite as awesome as Falskaar. :D

Besides unrelenting Force, Become Ethereal is useful for when you just want to jump off a cliff instead of looking for a path, and Clear Skies is good for getting rid of those pesky snow storms. I also like the shout that turns enemies to ice, useful for when I'm weak and fighting enemies who are considerably bigger and meaner than I am.
But there are things that prevent me from making use of shouts.

If I'm playing a character who uses archery and sneaking to pick off enemies from afar, then I won't really need to use shouts unless the enemies detect me and all come running at once.

Also if I'm playing a mage, it seems a bit redundant to have shouts for harming enemies when I'm flinging spells at them, although shouts do make good back up spells for when I've used up all my magica.

Plus I use followers a lot, so I will avoid using powers that risk damaging my allies.

Shouts will normally be most useful if I'm playing a berserker who doesn't want to sneak around shooting people or use magic, just rushing forward and killing whatever's in my path. Sometimes it's good to have a supernatural power that does not affect unwanted magic skills.

Forgot to mention 2 others I use, 1 I use frequently the other not so much but enjoy using when I do anyway....

I use Elemental Fury a lot now on my main character as I've went to using an unenchanted version of his katana as he's at a level now that an enchanted weapon is considerable OP. The boosted attack speed on a sword that weighs very little to begin with makes him a walking food processor

Having console added Dragon Storm Call, i.e. Alduin's meteor storm, it really takes he joy of flinging people around with unrelenting force to a new level. Obviously collateral damage is a problem so you have to pick your spots, but the enjoyment you get with it is priceless.

It's really twofold. You get a giant shockwave when you call it and then hell rains down from above.

I arm my vampires with the amulet of Talos and the blessing of Talos. Then I pepper fire dragons with 1 or 2 word version of unrelenting force before they can breath. My vamps also use whirl wind sprint when caught by surprise outdoors (esp during the day). Nothing like having all 3 words of that. Gives you a chance to get out of immediate harms way and think.
