    upload_2014-10-22_10-32-14.png

Shaved brown hair, Dark blue eyes, pale complexion. Short ears, & stretching Flame tattoo along back of left arm (rarely seen). Slightly above average muscle density, weight of 92.2kg.

    Squad Role: Assault, Leader

    Apparel

Backpack: Pair of fragmentation grenades, Medkit.

Current Alien kill count: 16, 11 assists.

    Personality

Very independent in thought, often anylising the field with incredible detail. Looks out for squadmates with great care, & is willing to risk his own position & sometimes even the mission objective to keep his men & women alive. Despite fighting the aliens to the best of his ability, he also posseses a curiosity to their appearance, sometimes waiting to fire to cause maximum damage. Vicious in melee combat, even when facing physically superior opponents.
Outside of the battlefield Mac is an approachable & intelligent character, able to form a connection with almost anyone, including the brutal, sociopathic Sergeant. Social groups tend to be his squadmates, hence his fierce protection of them the field. Not overly talkative, but has the respect of many recruits & civillian personnel throughout XCOM.

Likes: Exploration of new areas, travel, his personal knife & his team.

Dislikes: Overwhelming odds against him, Poison, melee based enemies, particularily Berserkers after one fateful encounter.

Fears: Death. Selfless though he may be, the idea that he could die any day now causes him Insomia. Also incredibly vary of Mind-control, brought on by the tales of Sergeant Field.

Aspirations: All of Mac's past relationships have failed, & he seeks an understanding partner in the future, but only when the invasion has ended.

    Bio

    Childhood:

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in a relatively peaceful time, Duncan's family were caring yet poor, with his unemployed father being forced to join the Army. Having to take on a full-time role, Duncan never got to see his Father, despite remaining in contact with him throughout the years. During his education the boy earned good grades in physical education, science & social studies, yet always saw his absent Father as a role model, making him want to join the Army himself.
Upon turning 18 Duncan unexpectantly ran off to join the Army, leaving everything behind & taking on the false name of 'Mac'.

    Teen/Adulthood:
After enlisting & passing the entry examinations with flying colours Mac began his 14 year long career in the military, hoping to eventually encounter his dad when the Middle-East crisis broke out.
Finally learning of his Parent's whereabouts Mac requested to be re-quisitioned to that camp. As he & a small platoon arrived there they found the place destroyed. After their evacuation Helicopter was shot down by unknown assailants the crew were suddenly attacked by hostile aliens, nearly being driven to the brink of death due to inferior equipment. Finally early XCOM specialists arrived & helped to cover a second evacuation.
Deeply grateful of his saviors yet greatly depressed by his Fathers apparent death, Mac decided to enlist into the XCOM squads.
Beginning his paramilitary career in the early months of 2015, Mac proved to be efficent in countering the alien threat. With his high survivability rate he eventually rose to the rank of Corporal, entitling him to lead his own squad.

I never have reached Field Medic. The average for how many missions my troops survive is currently less than two. Which class is it under?
I was playing in between making that CC, went into the alien base with 6 people, & was down to 2 by the time we reached the heavy Floaters. Despite these two survivors (Assauly & Heavy) being low on health, they (using laser based weapons) Killed the 3 remaining Heavy Floaters, 2 Muton Elites, 5 drones, the Sectoid commander & my first ever (to kill) Sectapod.

I'm gonna cry when those two inevitably die.

Those kinds of moments are what make XCOM great. Are you playing on Normal or Classic?

Normal. Get my ass kicked otherwise.

Epic, what platform do you play the game on?

I'm normal too. Did it for EU and I had fun with it. My casualties for the entire campaign were fewer than twenty and I was very patient with my advancement of the story. I always made sure my guys were rested, leveled and ready. Sometimes save scumming after a really bad mission. 2+ casualties usually. You lose three colonels it's very difficult to recover. My first shot at EW was kind of funny because I was reckless with my orders. I figured "exact same campaign with more stuff to kill with? Hahaha, easy mode!" Than I remembered some things I rely on got nerfed, there are some tough new enimies and I'm back to bare bones gear and baby rookies. I also decided to ignore a UFO contact to see what happens. Then ignored it again in the hopes that it would shoot down my satilite over the U.S. It did and it was a very bad idea. Nations with maximum panic leave the Council at the end of the month if you don't address the matter before then. Decided to just make a new game after that.

Ethereals might look frail. But they will fl*ff pl*ps up to no end.

I play on PC, because it looks even more atmospheric, can run in 1080p and I can use a mouse and keyboard; which in my opinion, is the only way to play strategy games :p
Field medic is the one where you get 3 med-kits instead of just one, right? Because oh yeah, I don't think I've ever gotten the alternative. Never will, because 3 med-kits is a necessity, really.
I gathered I'm the one that's been playing it longest; T's not fought an Ethereal yet and I know Simus just got it lately, but I'm still surprised. Majority of my missions end with all aliens down, no deaths (maybe a few injuries) and either 1 or 2 meld canisters. I think my best playthrough so far ended with the memorial board consisting of five names; two rookies, a corporal, a captain and a major. I was pretty pleased with that :p

    Lucky.
How'd you do it? Seriously, I just cannot keep up. Just played an abduction at an Australian train station. 2 Cyberdiscs, 4 Mutons, 2 Berserkers & 3 Elites. HTF do I keep everyone alive in that scenario? Two people got killed by an Alien grenade because they were both surpressed by Heavy Plasma cannons, & the rest were all wounded by the end.

In other news, I'm going to start on the IC now as we have 4 squad members. We'll still be open obviously. Do you guys know anyone else who might be interested?
BTW I'll change your cast colour now, Terrik.

I don't know of anyone else who plays XCOM. I'm sure there is more, just that I don't know who does.

Cyberdiscs are fairly easy to deal with if you have a heavy with HEAT ammo; with a heavy laser, it'll deal with most of its health, so another squadmate can finish it off. With a heavy plasma, it'll just obliterate it straight up. Mutons are okay to deal with if you have good gear; lasers are pretty much the bare minimum for dealing with them. Berserkers can be a pain if they get up close, but killing them first can often be a good plan. The elites are always a pain, with their huge amounts of health; laser guns really won't do well up against them. The main thing (and against any enemy that uses grenades) is to keep your squad spread out, so they're not encouraged to use grenades. I know the train station map you're talking about; best way to do that map is to send an assault/sniper through the train itself. Send a heavy and a support round the left, and your three remaining soldiers to the right of the train. That gets a good even spread, and if you've got a squad-sight sniper; you can just put him at the back of the train and let him take out aliens from there without ever putting him in danger.

    Again with the Squad-sight! :)

I'm sorry guys, was unable to finish the opening post, so the IC will be up tommorow at the earliest. My apologies if you were hoping to post tonight, my computers battery is getting old.

Gotta love the poll's maths ability. 75% chose yes and 50% chose no. Sure, why not.

This sites gone funky. I once got 3 akerts for one post in a fanfic. Was thoughroly dissapointed, suffice to say.
Do you two play multiplayer much? Tried it once at a Friends house (my microsoft account got hacked). Kicked ass with Elite Muton.

I haven't played multiplayer all that much, because I only have two friends that play it and with uni, we're all pretty busy. Plus, deathmatches are cool and all, especially being a new kind of deathmatch; but I'd like some form of co-op play. Like, you're told "there's an alien incursion here, but it's too big for just one team, so we're sending in three teams; each of you three command one team and work together to take out the aliens". Now that would be cool.

Totally. I know XCOM is a squad-based strategy game, but I'd definately say yes to co-op, especially if it meant larger scale battles. I would personally lead an army of super SHIV's. Love them, even if I cant afford them.

BTW Xbox, which is a shame because I'd happily play against you.

 Oh well, I guess I'll have to do without crushing you into the dirt :p
Will see what I can do about posting.

Hah. I'd mess you up with my bio-diverse Alien squad!
Seeing as we probably will never battle...
    • 1 Sectoid
    • 1 Sectoid Commander
    • 2 Floaters
    • 1 Heavy Floater
Won 2/3 batles with this squad! Screw humans!
