Can't decide to help Cicero, or falsely accuse him

This is the Wagon Wheel one. I just can't decide. I'll be honest I've never played the DB questline, but I think I've learned before that he does something bad if I got into it far enough (which I will find out on this playthrough as I intend on doing the DB questline this time around, in part for the Stone of Barenziah in their sanctuary).

What I have learned is if I report him to the guard, Loreius and his Wife get murdered. Knowing the dire consequences ahead of time if I choose not to help him, might sway me to help Lorieus avoid getting killed by that maniacal, well, maniac.

But for those that have done the DB questline, do you think I should go ahead and screw him over anyways? Dialogue might be more interesting by the time I join the assassin's guild with him and I royally screwed him during the wagon situation?

For now I'm not going to do anything with this quest until I get some answers from some forum members. I believe I've done both before but never returned to find Lorieus murdered, even though in the back of my head I know that is what will happened.

BTW I'm trying to keep NPC's alive on this playthrough. Already used the resurrect console command a few times on some hunters I found dead.

I always help him regardless of my playthrough. Despite him being an assassin (Your PC doesn't know that) he adheres to the strict traditions of the Dark Brotherhood whilst the other members of the Skyrim sanctuary are reduced to mere common cut-throats with a leader who has a superiority complex and basically throws a temper tantrum because by Dark Brotherhood law/tradition she isn't the leader anymore, you are. He is also a likeable guy if you're his friend lol, and like the dialogue says, he's just a stranger that needs help, albeit a weird stranger :p

your character does not know he is an assassin...now what would a good character do and what would an evil character do to some stranger they met on the road? ask yourself that. are u good or evil their is your answer.

maybe...
I've always helped him,(except one time because I was just feeling mean atm) because he's someone in need, and Loreius is/was just being a di** and not wanting to help because of what he looked like and was just using what he was hauling an excuse not to help (that's what I got anyways), and another reason I always helped is because after finding out what happens when you don't I felt bad for the wife, as she didn't have much to do with it and she got murdered too

I've always helped him if my character bothered to stop to talk to him. I figured a really evil person wouldn't be bothered to stop and a person good enough to go talk to the farmer on his behalf would push for the help (seeing how they don't give an option to fix the wagon yourself). It was also an easy way for some early cash in the game.

Help him.

Also, my opinion, when you do the DB questline, DO NOT kill Cicero because of Sithis and the Night Mother.

I won't give anything away, but during the quest when you're put in a position to go kill Cicero, cast the spell Spectural Assassin when you enter the Dawnstar Sanctuary and go looking for him. You get that spell from Astrid during an assassination if you do option that takes more work (you have to kill a certain somebody when she's in front of people, not inside). So MAKE sure you get that spell. When you cast it in the Dawnstar Sanctuary while hunting Cicero, the Spectral Assassin Lucan will be summoned. He will make comments concerning Cicero, very important comments if you take the DB seriously in regards to Sithis and the Night Mother.

Plus you'll see that the reasons you're being sent to kill Cicero are only to help a certain person that is wrong.

Take the money.

It costs you... nothing to help him, you even pick up one of those rare Speechchecks which will always help you. No reason whatsoever not to help him from that perspective.

However... when I first saw him... I knew he was Dark Brotherhood. Somehow I just knew it. Which means == do everything you can for him.

And also, who are we to judge? He's just a man in need and compared to alt, everyone gets paid by helping Cicero.

Not helping him is just being pretentious, me thinks... you'd have to be. :D

And this too ~ I saved Cicero in the quest itself, which is what I thought this thread was about. Nothing wrong either way, just saying Cicero didn't deserve to die and even if he did, he makes for one kick a$$ companion. If nothing else, I'm glad you're not forced to kill him.

I don't accuse him or help him. I just leave his crazy butt standing there and steer a wide berth. I don't generally get into the DB questline, so there's no reason to help him out, but falsely accusing people does not sit well with me, so "have fun standing around forever, Cicero."

I accused him at least once, maybe twice........ I don't really know if I did so more then once. I'd say it's up to you. I don't think I've ever helped him....

First time in many playthroughs that I actually got this particular quest. I did help him partly because my mage is a killer but still kind hearted. Only the bad guys die, well apart from one unfortunate courier and the whimpering nord in the abandoned shack. Hey she got the DB invitation but she probably won't take them up on their offer unless she has a change of heart. All she saw was a man, albeit slightly whacked, in need of help.

Cicero adds a Uniqueness to the battles in Skyrim, but he earned my respect by being the devoted protector of Night Mother on a grueling, lonely journey.

Reading his journals also reveals he was once a sane man but became crazed gradually as time passed and other spoiler things.

No perks by getting rid of him, only that lingering feeling of guilt.

I really really really dislike Cicero (and the DB in general) and never help him, but falsely accusing somebody isn't something my character would do either, so I just let him sit there. Besides, it's not like I have my hands empty. Don't know if you've noticed, but there's a dragon crisis going on :p

I'd go by what your character would do. Still I wouldn't want to make a guy like Cicero mad... I guess angry would be better word here.

Spare him and help him. Cicero has some of the funniest dialogue in the game, in my opinion.

I love Cicero, so I always help him out. He's my all-time favorite Elder Scrolls character. I even named one of my cats after him. :D Plus, what he did at the DB Sanctuary was not the slightest bit bad IMHO. The dialogue does change a tiny bit in the beginning, if you screw him over, but not much.
