A While ago, I purchased the Hero's Guide to ESO in anticipation of the games release. Despite my complete and utter disappointment with the game itself, and its rather contradicting lore, the set of Tomes actually fits in quite well with original ES lore (as apposed to ESO). One of the tomes, Kyne's Challenge, was particularly interesting to me, as it was a journal of a group of travelers. They sought out beasts throughout Tamriel, and chronicled their experiences with them.

Now, I quite enjoyed the tome, and the fact that it seemed like a journal of the group's leader, rather than just a story. That's when I got the idea to maybe do an RP of this adventure. Each member would play as a certain character on the journey, and outside of the beast hunting we'd follow from the tome, it would allow us to actually Role Play pre-made characters. I would plan on adding more monsters to hunt in between the ones mentioned in the story, and maybe continue on outside of the story written.

This would not be tampering with certain story elements (like encounters, strategies, etc.) or character traits, we'd simply be reenacting both the scenes captured in the story and otherwise, as well as add our own additions (so sort of a Spin off or maybe even group written fan-fiction. I wasn't sure about this idea, because it would limit a lot of creative freedom when it came to the characters. However, i wanted to ask all RPers out there, to see what ya'll thought.

If i see that you guys like the idea, I will put up an OOC for recruiting. If not, doesn't hurt to ask, does it?

Thanks, and I look forward to see what you all think!!!!!!!!! :D

I think its a fun and unique idea. I'm not that familiar with the text myself, however depending on how specific they are about the character it would be hard to write about a personality you didn't think of yourself. I think you would also have a problem with people not quite agreeing how the story went, or how you should role play it.

As are the same issues with other RP's of the sort. I am working in some sample CC's from the descriptions given in the text for others to use in the RP. But I may also encourage them to attempt to create there own. Like I said, this wont be an exact reenactment, more like a spin off retelling. That way running the RP can fall to the hands of all of us.

I appreciate your input too. Follow up: if I end up posting an OOC would you be one to apply?

I would defiantly consider, however like I said I'm not to familiar with the text so I would have to read up first.

Wouldn't be necessary. As the head of the RP, I would be in charge of organizing the writing direction So that it all corresponds to the book. However, reading it wouldn't be a bad Idea. Im not sure if you can get it anymore, as I believe it only came with the entire set, which there are only 10,000 of. It was limited edition. However, there is a chance of existing PDF's and even Ebay.

You can buy it from the Bethesda store online. However $100 is a little much for RP research. But, yes I would still be interested in the RP.:D

Ya. But thats the entire package. I wasn't sure if they still sold it or not so. :D

I was talking about the single tome alone.

Ohh, sorry misunderstood. I just figured if I was going to read part of the collection might as well just go all in and get the whole thing. ;)

Well, if you are as obsessed as I am with ES Lore, then I highly recommend it. 2 books, a signed lithograph and awesome collector's box? Ye ma'am. Its a great buy.

Im also glad you are interested. Im gonna wait a few days ti get some more input from other users, before making my decision. :D

    Hmm this seems interesting.

I found a nice place for guidance and research at least, however I would guess it's small in detailed comparing to the tome.

    http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Books:Kyne's_Challenge:_A_Hunter's_Companion_Characters_and_Summary

Do all eight main characters would take part, or would we have less (over time I guess we do)?
I mean I wouldn't mind taking part as the Redguard. Namasur.
Even though I only know he comes in and stops the group from being arrested when a certain somebody turns werewolf in a public market. But then I think he comes in pretty late?

From what I understand, the journal first appeared to Grundvik in a dream of sorts and the same goes to his friend, Ingjard?

Well. If this did happen, odds are it would be the characters that started the journey with Grundvik. As I stated before, this is only a spin off of the story, so there would be some story changes:
    1. No character deaths, like in the story,
    2. None of the Daedra stuff.
    3. Charcters that vome jn later likely will be NPC and only be with the group for a short time.
    4. Its not the same story. Its a story based off of the travels in the story, as well as encounters.

    More info soon.

You can go ahead and do your own thing. But as soon as I am done with school I will likely start up what I have planned.

Looks like I'm waiting then. You did say you had a lot planned, made it sound like a revolution. I can wait :)
