I am far past Dragon Rising, playing on a PC as a Nord, and about level 30 now. I have not had one single random dragon encounter thus far. The only dragons I have encountered were the one in dragon Rising, and the ones at the Dragon peaks? Is this normal? Is it a bug? It's truly bumming me out, because this was one of the main reasons I bought the game. :c

I am sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm rather upset by it.

seems unusual that you would never get a random dragon encounter...i get random dragons so often.
I would guess that it's a glitch, but you are on PC so there are probably some console commands you can do to fix it.
My first random dragon encounter was on the way to Kynesgrove to fight the burial dragon with Delphine.

I've looked everywhere for console commands, for patches, for anything, but like I said, the only dragons I've encountered anywhere besides the first quest ones are on the dragon peaks. :c

... Take some of mine... I get far too many. Including one that ALWAYS attacks Solitude as soon as I fast travel there.... happened 4 times already!

Shiney, let's be bad guys.
I had a somewhat similar experience with my second go through I maybe saw 5 dragons by time I got to level 35 but my current character killed 9 by level 8 and gets attacked every time I go to Falkreth

There is one that spawns constantly whenever I go to winterhold, that was a lot, (all quests in that town) I have like 20-30 extra souls

i wish i had your problem. Honestly, I get absolutely SICK of random dragon encounters. Especially since they are not very "random" any more i pretty much expect to have a "random" encounter every 3-4 times I fast travel and EVERY TIME I come out of my favorite general store from selling my loot(riverwood)

I just want to see more dragons, I hate that the only ones I see no matter what are the ones I have to hunt down are the ones at the dragon peaks. I want to see random attacks. I want to see cities demolished. I am really upset. :c

Do you have any mods installed? How far in the main quest are you at this point? Can you tell us the title of the current main quest portion you have in your journal?

Unfortunately, your first step is probably going to be to use the process of elimination and make sure that none of the mods are causing the problem. You may also look at the mod site and check the notes and comments for each mod just to see if anyone else has experienced something similar.

With me, Dragons seem to gravitate around Riverwood. Whenever I go, a dragon attacks, then the next time I come, the bones are in the garden of, or on top of, the tavern. There's three now, it's just weird, like some demented tourist attraction.

If you have finished the initial visit to Hrothgar, you can ask Angier for the locations of Word Walls. Many of them are guarded by dragons.

I seem to get at least my share of dragons - and while I don't have a solution to the "no dragons" issue - I do have a solution to dragon attacks near town. I'm trying to prevent the death of named NPCs as much as possible, mostly because I'm afraid I may miss something - if only dialogue. I found that if you go through what I call a "transition door" (where the game stops and loads) then the dragon attack ceases. You can enter the Riverwood Trader if you're attacked there and don't want to deal with it (or have folks die), then immediately exit, in every instance where I used this tactic the dragon was gone. Some, or even most of you may know this - but those that dont may appreciate it :). I play on PS3.

Man should have used that trick long ago...

I can't seem to find any random dragons either. The dragon peaks I've been to (Anthor and skyborn alter) gave me precisely one dragon to fight and now they're barren. I'm level 19 and the main quest is completely finished.

Does anyone know if the revealing the unseen, j'zargos experiment, forbidden legend, discerning the transmundane, taking care of business, in the time of need, or the golden claw quests disable the dragons?

Are you on PC? Because im on the X-box and as far as I can tell after beating the main quest dragons are still appearing for me pretty frequently. I think they become a persistent part of the game even after the main quest is over.

If you ARE on the PC do what others have said here and make sure the mods you have aren't screwing with the trigger for dragons to show up.

Nope, xbox. If I WAS on pc I would probably be just spawning dragons everywhere and fighting them all.

Also, Nightingale Archer, I appreciate the fact that you like peace. Do you have a 360 save that you could send me somehow? Because I got into this game for the dragons. The main thing that kept me engaged were the dragons. I'm level 20 with the main quest finished and there are NO dragons. Except for Snow Hunter Wing, and he's scripted to fly around the throat of the world.
