So, I was fighting an orc with a battle axe. He started to do a killing animation where my head would have normally just been chopped off and I would die. I went to drink some potions the second he started it and this happened. My body just stood there and a head appeared next to it. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now this is really bothering me. I walked into Whiterun and my head was rolling down the hill. I could even change the helmet I was wearing. I tried sleeping, restarting the game, starting quests, and waiting. None of those worked, so I don't know what to do.

ughh............... this seems to be a little well to made to be a bug.......................... was the orc wielding special axe or something? try praying at a shrine or something. Then again this might be the start of some side quest................... Good Luck!

omg, please post again if you find out if its a bug, a quest or something else, ive been going around the net and havent found anything, anything similar with your two cases aside from the rolling head? like the way it got chopped off maybe?

its definitely a bug, i tried a ton of console possibilities, which put my head on, but the line around my neck stayed and then it reverted to headless when i fast traveled. its some variable that i have yet to find.

edit: i also dont voice shouts anymore.

This exact same thing happened to me while I was wearing one of the dragon priest's masks and my robes had a hood on them. It made my head disappear!

No this is different, our bodies are decapitated, not just an invisible face/head. I don't know if you can distinguish it, but my head is lying by my feet in my first pic.

this problem should definitely be addressed for a fix from the developers. i hope they have it for you guys soon. as much as it is fun to look at the novelty wears out eventually, and i for one do not want to play headless

please share asap if you figure it out on your own thanks

like i said earlier its probably some scripted variable, once the creation kit comes out i will be able to isolate and figure out how to fix it, until then i can wear daedric armor to not see my decapitated body.

So glad to hear that mine was not an isolated case.
I have had the exact same thing happen to me, and have some info:
-It's a result of surviving a killing animation
-When you boot up a save, your head will not be there and a blood spray will appear.
-When you die and load a save (or quick-load, I think) your neck will over stretch and sometimes roll around
-Transforming into a werewolf can temporarily remedy the problem by granting your head back to you, as can showracemenu.
-Armour that shows your face will cause your head to glitch out if you have it, and nightingale helmet causes it to disappear.
-Daedric helmets don't glitch out because your head is completely obscured.
-As of now, I don't think there is a fix, but fingers crossed. >.<

Yeah this happened because the orc would have decapitated you. He did the move but you didn't die....so this is the result. And I thought my characters name being Prisoner was bothersome....lol youre like a zombie

I have to admit though, it does look pretty cool like this:

Also, for some reason, mine doesn't have the rim around the neck. He just doesn't have a neck. Strange.
