Honestly? They're all bloody awful. You marry them and there's nothing to do afterwards. They don't interact with your kids, you can't even tell them you love them, or hug them. Getting married doesn't offer up any missions, or interesting sidequests.
They're basically useless, and just hover about your house like a ghost

They're pretty much a means of a free meal and free money

Commodus has it right on the money. Even with Hearthfire the marriage system is pretty shallow. The only difference is the appearance of your spouse. The "spouse" dialog is shared amongst the various voice actors.

The wedding ceremony is amusing as in you can try and see who'll show up at the temple of Mara in Riften. But beyond that there's not much to it.

Just pick the husband or wife you find most attractive, usher them towards the kitchen so they can whip up your one free meal a day then forget about them until the next time you're hungry.

Well, there are the occasional kidnappings. :)

Since you don't have to eat anyhow and the money the bring in is a pittance, that's really not an excuse.

I tend to prefer Maven Black-Briar. She's just so good at keeping a steady flow of mead coming :p

But that's it.....
Or Hemming? Oh wait... he just acts like a girl... :)

I have not asked my wife for my share of the store profit for a very long time. And I won't, for a very long time. When I do finally ask her it'll be after I've completed the main quest and both DLCs, which I'm in no hurry to do. By then she'll have amassed a small fortune. :beermug:

It's true, what was said above by Commodus and Kalin regarding the relative uselessness of a spouse. Perhaps the next installment will expand greatly on this aspect of the game. Or... perhaps ditch it completely, like horses armor.

I do tend to agree about the mechanics of being married not being the greatest. I try to make up for it with RP though. Like with Mjoll, no she's not a great housewife but she's a great warrior and that's the type of thing my character loves. She doesn't want a housewife. She wants someone on the same level, a equal. That's my head canon anyways. :) From what I remember though, Bethesda was close to bankrupt when they made Skyrim. I think honestly the game would've been ten times better if they had had the capital to make it so. Also considering the already huge size of the game, I mean to much more content and I wouldn't be able to play it on my tiny PS3's HD you know? I dunno. But hopefully they will make up for it in the next game.

Well I'm sure you would have a lot of Money if you had my account since I had just finished the DLCs and the main quest :3

Zora Fair-Child from Interesting NPCs. Her voice and her story just make me melt.
Who dat?

She's one of the first followers I ran into after downloading Interesting NPCs. She's got an adorable voice, and a really moving story.

She's my favorite. Her scars are pretty much the basis on her story, and it's really well done.

Actually, I have it. I just haven't had the motivation to set everything up and frankly Steam and Nexus freak me out.
I've been playing Dragon Age, Dragon's Dogma, Oblivion, Assassins Creed and Blood and Fire but am getting a Skyrim itch. Perhaps I'll set it up this weekend.

It's really easy. Steam is amazing. I'd also be willing to help out with modding, i.e. what you want out of mods, and what you do not. I've used literally thousands of mods over the years, and feel I have a decent enough grasp to help get someone the skyrim experience they would want.

Cool. I'll let you know as soon as I have it set up. Thanks for the offer!
