After a long, and much needed break from skyrim, I am ready to start anew. What are some suggestions in order to keep the game fresh and challenging. While still being fun. Permadeath? Builds? RP Advice? PS Sadly I am on console.

When in doubt, follow the fox.
Just don't be in a hurry to do anything. Quest lines can wait.

yeah I was planning on taking it slow and role playing after my last character I discovered that doing a ton of quests in a row killed the immersion especially because of how much fast travel I had to use

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Explore everything. Since it's been a while, don't start immediately on Legendary. I suggest Master if you like a challenge. I agree with Colleen. Just play and don't worry about the quests. Personally I pretty much ignore them unless I happen to be in the area or run in to them. You may also want to try a totally different build - maybe something a bit out in left field? A Nord Necromage. An Argonian priest. A high-elf thief that doesn't use magic.

I'm not a fan of permadeath myself since I have a tendency of dieing A LOT when I play on Master for my first 20 levels or so until I get the feel of the character, but I do use a lot of rules like: no fast travel, always eat and sleep, etc... It depends on whether you're console or PC, of course, but I'm on PS3 at the moment so I have to make my own rules.

I'll be returning myself in January after a 9 month hiatus (maybe sooner) since 4K hours kind of burned me out. For the time being I'm developing my character Gideon in other games so I have a really good idea what I want to do with him when I get back to SR (after all nothing encourages RP like SR!).

Thanks Daelon, I decided I would role play a werewolf but I would transform every night or when my health is below half. At least until I get the ring of hircine. Yeah I don't think I'll do permadeath I would hat having to lose hours of game play because a bear killed me. I'll be sure to incorporate some of your Ideas!

When I play the wolf, I make sure to do it very early (it only requires going toward whiterun and speaking with the companions fighting the giant) and do something similar (nightly transformations and hunting the plains), that way I can visit Falkreath and get the ring before level 10 and then the fun can begin! I have had some truly epic struggles with mammoths and giants on my nightly forays.
Good luck! Enjoy. Keep a journal so we can read all your adventures. For some reason we love to read other people's. :)

Do you play on PC? If so and you want to roleplay a Werewolf I'd suggest you download 'Moonlight Tales'. Offers the ability to infect followers with Lycanthropy, transform 100% on a full moon (The mod makes use of lunar cycles), different skins, werewolf/hunter events. Really, really adds to the immersion of being a werewolf :)
