Okay, so I haven't played Skyrim in a year, because of my fear of Frostbite spiders. Despite that, I decided to start playing it again this week, when I remembered that my Shadowmere had died/fallen somewhere during that year. All I remember is that it was either near Riften, a place I hate going to, or somewhere near Mount Anthor. So far this week I've gone to the DBH's first sanctuary multiple times after waiting 10 days, and then after waiting 31 days, and there was only a Pentoculus Agent there..I checked Mount Anthor and all the stables more than once, and she/he wasn't there..I went to Riften but I didn't go any farther than the stables..Also, when I was at Whiterun's stables, a horse that I hadn't bought was marked as mine..I ended up killing it and going back to the 1st sanctuary, but nothing'd changed. Before posting this I had gone to Riften to start searching but then I'd decided not to..Any suggestions/help :/?

I'm not sure if your on PC or not (It doesn't say). If you are then you can type in "prid 9CCD8", this will select Shadowmere so you should see an ID code appear at the top of the console command window. Next type in "moveto player" and he should appear near you (If he is dead just type in "resurrect" while shadowmere is selected and he should come back to life). Also if you have a fear of the spider this should help. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28/? Little but silly but oh well.

Shame then, I suppose you can only look for shadowmere or load an old save file/new game. I know you can connect your PC to your XBox but its a lot of hassle just for shadowmere. Hope this helps someone else though with the same problem

I got her back!!! I waited 10 days, went to the original DBH sanctuary and there was an agent there, but I didn't go up to him and next thing I notice was her racing off from somewhere behind me, (supposedly the black pool) and I killed the agent with her!!! I'm so happy to have her with me again aghh

"Reunited and it feels so good...."

Glad to hear that Shadowmere turned back up. She usually does.

I've always thought if Shadowmere as a "she". Lucien uses a female pronoun. Astrid uses both male and female. I guess it's another thing left to the players preference.

I'm on an Xbox, sadly :/ If I wasn't I'd be playing Skyrim everyday, haha

I lost Shadowmere for awhile as well for a couple of months. Then one day I was running by Falkreath, and near the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, and there he was next to the pool.

I also lost Shadowmere for quite awhile and yes when I went to the sanctuary by Falkreath it was there amongst a lot of horses marked stolen.

Good to hear, but is shadowmere a he or she? I never really found out.
In Oblivion Shadowmere is referred to as a Female, while in Skyrim Shadowmere is referred to as Male.
why this is so, I have no clue.... but I think... to each their own... I have always said "He/Him" even in Oblivion.

Interesting. I cannot kill off Shadowmere. We battle dragons. gallop down near vertical cliffs and
swim in the floes and the biggest response from Shadowmere is a squeal now and then. I do try to remember where I stashed him when I go afoot. I do wish there was a mechanism for locking him in a stall now and then, but hell anytime I fast travel, there he is.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a spell or shout to bring your follower or horse to you?

I love the ability to call for my horse in some Legend of Zelda games, and I wish for it in just about every other game with horses. In Skyrim I rarely use mounts, and am surprised to find Shadowmere or Frost (depending on the character) waiting for me after I fast travel (also rare).

I feel so silly having recurring "Oh yeah, I have a horse" moments.

The obvious work-around for calling my horse or follower is to simply fast travel to your current location. It takes a bit longer than a spell but it usually works.
