Now that I think about it... When the greybeards recognise you as Dragonborn they show how you can stand up to their shouting, as if you have a resistance to the effect. YET, when some random Draugr shouts at you it has full effect.
Perhaps some of the more ancient draugrs, (deathlords), have developed their unrelenting force shout to a greater degree than the Grey Beards. Sigdis Gauldurson is the most pesky in this regard, repeatedly blasting me across the screen or disarming me. I have sent Sigdis and the other Gauldurson brothers to the Corpse Ripper. They'll be a bother no more.

What if I played Skyrim with an arcade stick...would it be possible?

You could, but only if you configured 4 of those buttons to be movement based. Think: WASD.

Or you could have just one of the buttons be a modifier that changes the stick from movement to aiming, it would be tedious, and not very functional.

Either way, to have the game be playable, you would not be able to play without movement being separate from aiming. So for decent gameplay, the answer is no. You would have to forgo a lot. Item Menus, pause screen navigation, not to mention the gameplay stuff.

This is an arcade stick. You have the joystick and the buttons on the right. I was looking at it today and was thinking if it was possible to play something like Skyrim. But I found a way to make it possible. I can easily do WASD with the joystick. Then I can assign one of the buttons as the confirm button, another as the sheath button, a back button, attack button, run button, jump button and special ability/shout button and maybe the eighth can be as a block/zoom button. The only thing I can see that will be trouble is that i wouldn't be able to freely change the camera or crouch.

I don't know about that...it's not just changing the camera. WASD move you in the four directions, but unless you have a second control, you're always still facing one direction. That makes it hard to attack anything, block, etc. You'd probably be better off using the stick for looking around, and keep the WASD keys for movement, if you can use both keyboard and stick.

Mind was just blown.

It wasn't until tonight when I was picking up clutter in the manor, (not the job of a thane, yes yes.. but Otar the Mad would make a better house keeper than Lydia, who is seemingly only good at fighting and fetching wood.)... Anyway, I realized for the first time that one can duel-wield with a fork and knife! The possibilities began to occur to me. I was imagining double enchantments on each, upgrades, equipping Jenassa with her own fork and knife... Imagine the boost to reputation that would grant to Malkjar the Malignant, but as it turns out that isn't really his style. It would be perfect for a follower of Namira, however. Has anyone actually done this?

Like joe and I have said, you are going to have to have movement be separate from aiming, or you will be facing the same direction forever.

There are only two ways that could work.

1) Have a modifier. Meaning, assign one of the buttons to change the function of the joystick from moving, to aiming, but you would have to stop walking to look around/aim.

So no button=joystick moves you around.

Button + Joystick = you aim.

You couldn't do both.

2) Use the buttons as a WASD, and Aim with the stick.

Without getting really, really creative, you would lose almost all character functionality.

That's like trying to play mario on a smartphone. The controls have not been designed to be used this way, don't try to force it :/

Smash is probably the only fighting game where they use both joysticks, but competitive players don't play it with a fight stick, they just use the gamecube pad. So I doubt you'll find a fight stick with a second joystick.

With every hold in which one becomes a thane, one should be able to utilize an additional follower. Also, for every ten levels one gains after twenty, an additional follower. So by the time one reached level 50 or 60, one could command a deadly band of followers. Of course, one would need a hall big enough to house them all, as well as ale and food... and if one tried to command too many followers without such provisions, any one of them could step up and challenge you.

So, tonight I learned that beating up Hadvar whilst sneaking through Helgen Keep is a great way to level up. I really didn't intend to be level 9 with a sneak of 51 before reaching Riverwood!

How do you backstab a Dragon?

While cool, why are you beating up Hadvar? The other guy maybe, but Hadvar? He's a nice guy!

Getting threatened with execution does things to you.
At least he's apologetic. I never do the Stormcloak side, but, I should since there's is something wonderful about killing that stupid woman in the heavy armor (I forget which legate she is). She's just a b**ch!

Well, for one, he was there, Ralof wasn't. It was accidental at first, during the fight in the torture room, I got a little overenthusiastic and hit him, then realised I could sneak up on him really easily. I'll buy him a mead to apologise and maybe not steal all his family's stuff.

Do you always kill the torturer and his assistant? I do.
