Well, I tried the elder scrolls on-line game. First, don't get me started on the 27 gig download. Then as you adventure, there are always people running around, even in the countryside. I'm working a dungeon and get to the primary villain, someone else comes in attacks him and I have to wait for him to respawn for my turn at it. What a mood busting moment.

They should set it up so that when you leave town you are on your own -- or is that an option?

Well, I'm back to regular skyrim for now where solo is solo.

That's MMORPGs for you. Main reason games like Skyrim (TESO is not Skyrim online btw) are still feasible--some of us hate that crap.

Agreed, ESO not Skyrim online. It's an MMO set in the Elder Scrolls universe. It has the pros and cons of a MMO, which are all about personal perspective and preference. I personally like it more than other MMOs I've played, but less than single player ES games.

Yes, there are people jumping and riding all over the place, some are overtly annoying, you collide with their pet-followers, they "steal" kills and crafting items out from under you, and run their mouths in the chat. It's not necessarily lore friendly, and rp immersion is challenging to say the least. Again, it's not Skyrim online, and it will disappoint anybody hoping that it is.

But it's redeeming in its own right. Sharing your gaming experience with the world doesn't always suck.

Gee - it sounds like Dragon's Dogma! I've tried TESO up until about level 40 (I think, it was someplace after the MMO kicked in, the first 20 levels or so were kind of lonely) and I agree that all those other folks running around can be annoying, but, I actually found it kind of realistic. As a person that enjoys the single-player/local co-op games, I never thought I'd enjoy an MMO, but TESO is slightly different from most as the cliques haven't quite firmed up yet so you basically have a bunch of strangers running about doing what they want to do and competing for limited resources (kind of like real life!).
While I won't be getting TESO for my PS4 when it comes available, I have to say, for my first serious MMO try, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Of course, when I got really pissed off I tried to go after the yahoo's (to some success and failure, I might add).

Lucid is definitely right. While it looks a lot like Skyrim, it really, really, really isn't Skyrim online. :)

The Elder Scrolls could definitely benefit from limited co-op features. You and up to five friends adventuring around Tamriel would be great! It would have all of the charm and soul of an Elder Scrolls game with out becoming a giant MMORPG, which is a turn off for a lot of people.

When it's just a handful of players, you don't have that over-trafficked feel. You're each heroes and you're working together to save the world! Very dungeons and dragons. And you don't have to form a queue to kill the bandit lord because Dr4g0nbrn14 beat you to the bottom of the dungeon.

There have been attempts to make an On-line co-op mod before, with little success. However, some people working on the Skywind project have told me that a new workable Co-op mod is in the works, and that it will be glorious. It's not even really in alpha yet, but I tend to trust these folks, so here's to hoping.

I was a beta tester for ESO and I must say that I was NOT impressed with what I saw. I can't believe that the developers have the audacity to make this game a paid subscription. What a rip off!

Bethesda could of very well used the very plot concept to create the next Elders scrolls game, or turn it into an expansion to Skyrim.. instead they let this plot get turned into a cheesy MMORPG that is ultimately going to fail.

I really wanted TESO to be a success, and that being said, I don't believe it is a complete failure.

The truth is though, the fact that it is struggling, and not a complete and utter success is just going to ensure that TES:VI is going to happen :)

Bethesda, unfortunately isn't in much control over this MMO. Sure they developed the Elder Scrolls as fans know it, but Zenimax was mostly behind this... Well, most would call it a 'crime' or what not. Some have, from what I have seen, venomously defended it as well as the paid subscription. People such as Joe (Angry Joe) are getting praised and also fired upon their negative opinions on this game. Calling them whiners over the 'money grab'.

I had a feeling it might have been a money grab from the beginning. I knew I wouldn't be able to afford it, (I have other higher priorities than an MMO anyway, even though I have a bit of free time on my hands) but nonetheless I kept an eye on it. I admit I was curious as to how it was going to go about all the speculation early on. Then I saw the factions and face-palmed. I don't know a lot of lore on the series compared to some dedicated fans, but the factions really had me shaking my head. But I let it pass due to multiple reasons.

I imagined myself paying every single month. I did that with Runescape and it was fun, but it felt like I was being forced to play my membership time almost. Almost being, I could just wait until it was over and not be a member but still play the game. I tried it out, wasn't really for me, they got some money but I could still play. Win, win.

I also saw that they asked for credit cards even when you made the purchase so they could charge you every month, with no other payment option. I don't know if they changed that rule or not but maybe they should. That really set me off and made me uneasy considering theft is all around. (My dad has been ripped off a few times but he got his money back, and a few scared people running to boot) I'm not saying Zenimax is full of crooks, I just don't like the idea of having credit card information on the INTERNET. You know, that place where once you put something online it stays there. For like, you know... FOREVER?

As for game play and experiences on exploring I cannot comment as I haven't played it obviously. I have seen play through videos on them, YouTube, blogs, etc, and I'm kinda torn. PvP looks neat, but would ultimately crash my computer and laptop. It looks like there is constantly people stealing kills and items under your nose (it happens to the best MMO's, can't really be helped most of the time).

I don't know, I don't see it lasting too long. Apparently it did ok after launch regarding sales and pre-order (or those could be lies cooked up by supporters or Zenimax themselves, who knows) but I wouldn't be surprised if this went south.

I hope I didn't upset or stir up any people who like the MMO, I'm sure there are good points to the game, it looks like they did put some kind of effort into it. The look of Molag Bal made me want to hide under my covers (not really) and some of the scenery looked great. But as we know... Having pretty colors and beautiful scenes will not save your product if it does not meet overall standards of the customers. We'll have to wait and see.

I obviously don't know all the facts on how things are going but if I need to be enlightened, then by all means share information. I'm curious on how this MMO is going to go and where it is at now.

Those things being said, this game has a long way to go and has some potential. The staff can learn from their mistakes and maybe make changes that will help the game and fix things up a bit. Only time will tell.

To do this, they'll have to bump up difficulty and populate the game more

I don't ever plan to get TESO, doesn't interest me. When it comes to Elder Scrolls I like to relax and be able to enjoy myself. Getting kills, resources, loot and what not stolen by bitches who often can't type, don't know the lore and constantly talk plops would piss me off to no end.

If you could have your very own server with a party you want, then maybe. I wouldn't mind exploring Tamriel with about six people who also enjoy RP and the lore surrounding ES.

I'd make dungeons that would require a team of people to clear out rather than just the Dragonborn and Lydia if I were making an MMORPG.

I won't pay $240 in my first year for a game though. I got better things to spend my money on.
