I like it, but...

I will not tolerate failure...
u know many of the kill cams are like that, but what is with the unarmed wrestling moves? those animations in that clip do look alright if a tad unrealistic to me.

I think if a modder somehow changed the game's fighting by trading the regular attacks with those of the kill cams and only had them do a certain amount of damage it may be possible.

I know! A big reason as to why I haven't played a Khajiit monk yet, is that anytime I'd get a killcam, he'd suddenly turn into a wrestler! Why no Kungfu-esque killmoves?

You know how unrealistic this is?

Dovahkiin doesn't use a banded iron shield.

And you think what Bethesda gave us is realistic?
It was a joke. Although I find it too unrealistic for my tastes.

Good luck finding a way of pulling off the Gameplay aspects without changing what Elder Scrolls is to begin with. You should play Devil May Cry or Bayonetta for this kind of thing.

Or Resident evil and their stupid QTE the games.

Better animations don't always make a game. It's the mechanics behind the animations. And that's coming from someone who studied animation for 3 years.

Moves like this would be very hard to pull off without button combination inputs. Inputs basically mean Ninja Gaiden or God of War. If the dragonborn could do moves like this then there would be far less of an emphasis on the role-playing and leveling-up aspects of the game, and much more emphasis on the action.

However, I do agree that the attack animations, whether it be the attack itself or the animation of the enemy after getting hit, needed to be tweaked a bit more.

At least it's not Oblivion. The melee attacks in that game were awful looking, and didn't feel right. Oblivion was superior to Skyrim, imo, in almost every way besides physics and melee fighting. It just seems like Bethesda needs to work more on the physical aspects of the game, BUT.... without turning it into a generic action game.

This would be awesome, if bethesda had the skill to do this. I personally liked when the giant broke the shield, they should have rethought something like that, we are dragonborn, we would/should have immense strength to withstand a giants blow to the shield instead of being flung into space. Wish they added weapon condition, and the animation of a sword/shield/bow even arrows breaking, and we would have to repair them like in oblivion.

Realistic or not, it's pretty impressive. I'd like to see some Aikido in the unarmed, and maybe get rid of that really slow fireman's carry one.

Some people are just never satisfied.

You want a massive world-space? Done. -"Not massive enough," whine the gamers
You want better action and animation? Done. -"It doesn't look like [insert action game]," whine the gamers
You want expanded vampires and werewolfs? Done. -"Now they're killing all the NPCs," whine the gamers
You want the ride the dragons in a game that wasn't originally designed to do that? Done. -"But I can't control where he flies," whine the gamers

"When is the next installment coming out?" whine the gamers. . .

Be aware that what you see in that video are not game mechanics. They are a series of animations made in a 3d program. The animations are equivalent to a cutscene in a game, not to a game itself. Could that be made into a game? Potentially (not Skyrim - since the game engine is not designed to handle that type of play). But it probably wouldn't look like that when you are fighting because you would have missed the timing on at least one of the hits/blocks. It's easy to say Bethesda skimped on the animation or dialog or whatever, but you have to look at what they actually provided in terms of what you didn't have before. Skyrim is massive. It is deep. It is a marvel of game-making. Is it perfect? No, not by a long shot. But it is awesome and it is my favorite game.

I don't get it. None of my animations look like that.

It's a demo of animations made by someone else, to show what they could do for something like Skyrim. I wonder if that guy would be interested in partnering with a modder to make mod that introduces new animations to the game.

wouldn't be possible with Skyrim's Engine. The mechanics needed would involve making skyrim HEAVILY script based with the engine. Something that makes skyrim unstable enough as it is. Not to mention adjusting proper gameplay and all the different weapons. No one is going to bother.

OIC. The first time I watched it, I thought it looked primitive, and I thought Skyrim's animations were much better. Then I watched it again, and now I think it's stylistically just different and whichever one likes better can be chalked up to preference. I for one don't want the whole anime-style sword flashes. And in this vid, nothing FUNNY happened like what happens in Skyrim. In the end, I'll take Skyrim the way it is.

Take the approach with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood combat system and integrate it, you will have some seriously impressive fighting scenarios in the Elder Scrolls from throwing/kicking dirt in people's faces, using spears and can sweep with them, more versatility with various weapons and a counter system which would work very well. Dragon, mammoth, and Giant fights would certainly be phenomenal had they taken more liberty and time with it. Sure it wouldn't have come out in 2011 but a year later and it would've controlled even better. Watching folks fight is boring because each swipe does damage to HP but that's about it, I want to see pain and response for getting hit with something.

The climbing in the game... there is no real climbing, hop around and if you can't clear your feet over it then you won't be getting over it which annoys me greatly that a simple TABLE or ledge can keep you from progressing and forcing you to go around. If they take the climbing from other franchises into consideration then using the hands as well would've made things a lot easier to maneuver.

That's a cool video. But if I want to play Assassins Creed, I'll play Assassins Creed. I really don't get why people think you can add all this stuff to Skyrim with out giving up other things.
