I didn't notice then, but I did it at the same time I did my worldwide 30 day wait. My load screen times got ridiculously short for a while, after that, so I can only guess both contributed to that. Are you on console or PC?

After learning that the "autosave bloat" was just a myth, I turned them back on for while, recently though, I was having freezing issues when fast-traveling, and I figured out it was the game attempting to autosave before loading all of the modded textures, causing Skyrim to flip the F out. So I have since disabled the Save on Travel function. I still forget it's off sometimes, and that it is not, in fact, saving every time I go from one area to another, and have been caught with my pants down, having no recent saves, on more than one occasion.

Speaking of load times, when I first got my SSD, I felt like a king when playing vanilla Skyrim on PC. The load times were almost instant, but once you start adding a bunch of mods and crap, it goes right back to normal HDD speeds.

Turning off autosaves makes a big difference in load screens. Yes. I don't see the 'myth' as I've witnessed the difference many times for myself. Less freezeups as well.

Particularly on consoles?

I don't mind the load screens. Gives me a chance to stretch, pee, or just get something to drink. if it cuts on before I get back. My wife will either grab the controller and pause it, go through and looks at my weapons and stuff, or play until I get back.

I've turned off all auto saving and the loading screens are much much quicker. Some are almost instant. I've had them off for a while now and don't plan on re enabling auto saving. I remember to save every five or ten minutes most of the time. I've had loading screens that would take minutes, sometimes up to ten minute in the past. Now the longest is maybe 30 seconds. I'm playing on PS3 btw.

The myth I was referring to was that on PC, using auto and quicksaves caused the size of your saves to increase to 10-20x their normal size, and eventually corrupting your game. There were (and still are) a few mods that came out to combat this issue. It turned out that certain combinations of scripts that would run simultaneously would conflict with one another, and these conflicting scripts would run when using fast travel, so if you had save on fast travel checked, it would appear in your save folder that the problem started during an autosave, when in reality, saving during these script conflicts could occur at any time.

the only auto save i have enabled is the save on character menu, i have that on 10 minutes. i only have that auto save enabled because i always forget to save lol
