PC Items disappearing and reappearing bug

Hi, I've had a problem since I've had skyrim on my pc... Sometimes when I see a group of items, they'll all disappear suddenly. They'll still be there, and will reappear when I move them. I've toyed with a bunch of settings and I've tried a lot of "fixes" for different texture issues, etc., and nothing works. I've tried multiple clean installs. I've tried changing textures. Updated all drivers, chipset, everything. Nothing.

I thought it might be something to do with my video card drivers or similar, yet I could run the game perfectly fine in the consumer preview of Win8.

There's also the problem of a spell not rendering in the character's hand, or shouts not animating or creatures not conjuring. In the case of shouts, the voice still happens, but there is no visual so the shout does nothing. I usually get a "you can't do that while shouting" message, or something similar. When creatures don't conjure, they just don't appear for some time, usually after I've already killed everyone in the room.

Attached are some examples of the items, the spell, and my system specs.

I haven't really seen anyone else with this problem, and I probably should lurk more... but I'm really hoping to get some help on this. I'll respond to any requests for information as soon as possible.

The particle rendering glitches may be video card related. Several players with ATI/AMD video cards have reported similar issues. If you've been reinstalling off of a disc, make sure you're verifying your game cache afterwards through your Steam account. If you've already done this or it doesn't resolve the issue when you do, then you may want to try a fix that one player posted on the Nexus forums. That player posted a link to a download site for a d3d9.dll file as a solution. Apparently this file "fix" causes a false recognition of the video card as an NVIDA card and resolved the issue for some players.

Did you buy your copy of Skyrim or is it a cracked version?
Bought it when it was on sale. Just got an update today, too.

Just completely uninstalled my video card drivers then reinstalled with the most recent drivers, and I verified the game cache even though I installed through Steam. It was still happening, so I'm trying the .dll fix. Thank you for responding so soon, and I'll let you know if it worked in a few :D

Ok, so a couple conjurations and spells took a little bit longer to pop up, but they rendered a bit quicker. And from what I could see, there weren't any items disappearing out of no where, but there was this really weird shadows glitch that came from it.

It pops up everywhere when I'm moving. This gets pretty annoying...

The d3d9.dll solution only relates to corrupt DirectX files and you are running windows 8 that comes with directX 10.

You weren't clear if you updated to 1.6, as 1.5 has a shadow glitch.

Also in SkyrimLauncher / Options / Advanced you might want to drop the shadow quality.

Windows 8 has problems of it's own, lest you be aware of this. Another thing would be to set the compatibility in Skyrim to Vista or Win 7.

Sorry,

I just updated before we attempted this. And I realize I might not have stated clearly the operating system. Currently I'm running 7. The game ran perfectly fine, without any problems at all, in Windows 8. I will attempt running the game in compatibility for Vista and XP.
The shadow quality is already set to low as well.

I'll let you know the results soon. I'll try it with and without the Nvidia library, too.

I meant to answer this a few months ago, but I believe it was caused by a problem with DirectX. A complete reinstallation of Windows 7 completely solved every problem I had.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. Except that the .dll file does not solve it.
I find Skyrim unplayable when these items keep dissappearing and reappearing. (It happens literally every time I pick something up.) It's extremely annoying.
Is there any other solution than a total reinstallation of Windows yet? I'm not going to reinstall my entire Windows, just in hope that it would fix this.

I've encountered the same problem on many systems, but it doesn't seem to be chronic. One of the things that may help is getting the full directx runtime. Or, more specifically, the runtimes for directx9 and above. Sometimes, when installing new drivers, or completely replacing them, it just installs the latest version of directx, not the complete runtime library, as a matter of fact, there are certain graphics mods/ENBs that will prevent the game from launching altogether if not installed.
