I think all of us have derived influences from known or obscured music artist that served as inspiration and identifying our own music signature. Who are your musical influences?

I took up guitar playing when I was a youth in our local worship church. But since I have deviated from religious practice, the practice of playing the acoustic guitar and singing I still continued.

Nowadays, I'm confined to playing just for myself and playing for the local orphanage, small town gatherings or children's parties. I sing acoustic folk songs, both classical and contemporary by the way. It includes American, British pop and Irish / Scottish selection such as (Boni Portmore, Until I take you home Kathleen, When Irish Eyes are smiling and Loch Lamond.)

Here are my musical influences:

Judy Collins
Peter, Paul & Mary
Sheryl Crow
John McDermott
John Denver
Cat Stevens
Vienna Teng
Mocedades

My trusty acousting guitar: :)

Nice Fender you got there Clau.

My main influence has always been Jimi Hendrix. Sure you could say that "It's just one guy" Yes, but Mr. Hendrix was a sponge. He absorbed everything, then cannibalized it into something completely new, kinda like taking Catfish Blues and turning it into Voodoo Child (Slight Return). He literally could play any style of music, and do it well, so in a way, I'm influenced by all of the people he was influenced by. To list all of them would take a really long time.

And since we're sharing pics of our instruments, here's my Number 1 guitar a Squier Classic Vibe 50's Strat. I've done a few mods to it, 57/62 pickups, a CRL 3 way switch (just like any strat built between 1954 and 1975 or so would of had), and new knobs. I do have a much more expensive stratocaster, but it doesn't play as well as my $350 Squier.2014-08-02 16.39.58.jpg

I once rented a DVD of woodstock 69, and that must have been one of the most compelling guitar solo I have seen. My interpretation of Hendrix is that he makes the guitar wale, weep and resonate in ways that leads to multiple interpretation.

That's a great Squier there! Quite a story too.
