an illusion thief is probably the funnest character of all time in skyrim..

Alteration. Four Words: Paralysis and Mass Paralysis

I think it's fun to mess with peoples heads ( look at my profile pic), so my favorite is Illusion. My second favorite favorite is destruction (frost, then fire, then shock, then ash) because I also think its fun to impale (pun intended) people with ice spikes and chillbolts. My third favorite is Conjuration because I think the Artonachs look cool and I think the idea of being able to keep someone alive forever is cool. My forth is Restoration because it's very useful but kinda boring. Alteration is last for the same reason why restoration is second to last. It's useful but boring.

Mine used to be Illusion. Than I found out how fun Dead Thralls are! So Conjuration is now my favourite. Destruction is easily my least used and least favourite school of magic, its so useless on high difficulties until you get high level spells.

Destruction is my primary magic, and then as a small secondary would be Restoration (for it's fast healing and ward spells) Especially when I'm travelling into a den of Necromancers.

It's a big hammer.
I really like when threads get revived that are older than I am on the forums. It makes me feel young. Plus, it always impresses me how people find these threads with like, one or two posts... or no posts! I'm like, "That's epic!"

Meanwhile, to the thread's actual question... I'm leaning towards Restoration because that's all I've played with right now. Alteration sounds really nice with paralysis. I think if Restoration had some more poison spells, which would make sense, then that would easily be my favorite. It's really fun running through a dungeon and completely wrecking draugr.

I keep playing with magic like I am with my characters then I'm bound to try a pure mage again. This time, though, I would rely heavily on Restoration and Alteration. Defensive minded first, offensive later.

Lately it's restoration because i don't like healing my followers after a battle, and it's fun to scare off undead things. just wish it wasn't so bloody slow.

My favorite, as in me "ooooh"ing and "aaaah"ing like a kid, destruction. My favorite, as in used the most because it's most effective for me, conjuration.

I would have said Destruction. Then I found a Mod that enhanced Conjuration by following ESO's lore and allowing you to summon the Dremora of Cold Harbour. Nothing felt better than using Cold Fire Spells and summoning a Dremora that genuinely looks dangerous.

It's definitely the school of Destruction for Dr. D'Irsei. Of course, that's what you have to call it when you have no advanced studies in Dentistry, because if you did, it would be called the Advanced School of Endodontics.

This school has been a natural choice for Dr. D'Irsei since birth, as the tendencies run in the family. It was so engrained, and semi-famously to be sure, that endless cycles later, similar fictional characters were still being based on her and her siblings :

This has been fact checked already. NO NEED to do it again.

Why no Enchanting. It's a perfectly valid school of magical arts.

Medea

The Shadow Queen
Illusion.....too bad it got nerfed since Oblivion though.

I just really miss being able to cast domination on someone in town....luring them out to the woods..... and murdering them. lol

Kalin of High Rock

Faal Lun Vahdin
To be fair, I really don't think there's a single aspect of magic Skyrim that hasn't had its teeth totally blunted (or removed) compared to Oblivion.

Conjuration for me. Conjuring 2 Dremora Lords, then my Bound Bow, makes even Draugr Death Overlords beatable.
